Spring had finally come and that meant the warmer weather would soon follow. The transition from winter to spring was always on the chilly side, but the promise of a warmer tomorrow always made for a smile on Victoria’s face. A smile from her, sadly, was a rare thing, though there were a very few number of people that knew how to produce one on her usually tight-lipped face. She didn’t usually have much to smile about, though she always kept a brave face on whenever she was around others. She might not smile often, but she did her best not to show her frowns and sadness either. There were times when she felt like a lost soul just wandering the earth without a purpose, and with none on the horizon. She was still only a fifth year, and she had another two and a half years to go before she’d leave Hogwarts for good. She had a few thoughts about what she wanted to do after school was done, but nothing concrete as of yet. Seeing the sun out and knowing that it was a bit warmer today than it has been, Vicks decided to head on outside for a bit, to take in the fresh afternoon air. She picked up her guitar case and her bag that contained her lesson book and a few bits of sheet music she’d gotten from the orphanage and used her wand to shrink them down so that they would fit into her pocket. Once they were secure there, she left her dormitory without a word to anyone. She could have just carried the case and bag out in her hands, but the fact that she even played was something no one knew about, unless you lived at the orphanage with her, which even most of those inhabitants didn’t know she’s been teaching herself how to play. She’d always wanted to learn, but never had the means to, until she came to the orphanage. Unable to take proper lessons, she bought a few books that taught her everything she needed to know. She was doing okay so far, though she was far from a great player. When she walked outside, the warm breeze hit her face and her lips parted into a smile as she made her way across the grounds and towards the lake. Normally she’d have found a classroom inside the castle and cast some spells on the room so no one could bother her or hear her playing, or singing, but the weather was just too inviting for her to stay inside today. She figured the Black Lake would be a perfect place since it was large enough for a bunch of people to be down there and not bother anyone else. Plus, she was sure no one would come near her because she was known for being quite a bitch to pretty much everyone. There were a small number of people she was actually on good terms with, but even that wasn’t an all the time thing. Vicks had a lot of issues, all of which stemmed down to her childhood and the life she lived before she came to the orphanage and Hogwarts. She might have had a few years to fix them, but it isn’t always that easy. She found herself a spot on the grass just under one of the large trees that bent over the lake. She pulled out her wand and dried the ground first, since it had rained the night before and she didn’t want to take any chances on getting her pants full of mud. Once that was taken care of, she pulled out her bag and guitar case from her pocket and brought them back to their full size. She opened up the case and pulled out her guitar, resting it on her lap and she dug through the bag and took out her lesson book and then some of the sheet music she had taken from the orphanage. She tuned up her guitar and then sifted through the sheet music looking for something to play. She pulled out one piece, a song called Lullaby by a band named Nickleback. She had no idea who they were, but they were apparently a Canadian rock band from the 1990 that the woman who ran the orphanage liked. Vicks scanned the music, making sure that the notes weren’t too hard for her and then she laid it all out in front of her and took a deep breath before she started to strum the strings. As she played the opening chords of the song, she felt herself starting to get emotional as she knew what the song was about. She’d only listened to it a couple of times, but it made her think of her parents, and strong negative feelings she has towards them for what they’d done to her; she also thought of the family unit she’d never get to experience. “Well, I know the feeling of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge,” she sang softly as she kept her eyes down on the paper. She didn’t know all the words, so she had to keep an eye on the page so she knew what to sing next. “And there ain't no healing from cutting yourself with the jagged edge,” she continued as she strummed slowly along through the song.

The foolish back to school dance had past, and he found himself more lonely then usual. Luca walked the grounds in nothing but a pair on black jeans. His bare feet in damp, cold grass unaffected by the weather conditions. It was the weekend and he didn't feel like staying in the common room, he never really did these days. The Luna cycle read that the full moon was a good week away and he was started to feel venerable, and temperamental. Luca always acted this way but when the full moon was so close to making an appearance, it was imminent. On top of it he was forced to drink the bloody Wolfsbane potion, it just added on to his reasons for moodiness. Luca looked down at his toes in the grass, the boy stood there shirtless without a soul around him. Luca only allowed socializing when he wanted company, other then that he was brilliant at scaring people off. It wasn't that he didn't like company, it was more along the lines of he didn't like people getting too close now a days. With his past who would?
The spring weather always had him think there was more to life then getting revenge. The small birds crirping in the trees, and the small flower buds on the trees were share signs of spring. The air was fresh but crisp, filling his lungs he started to make his way to his serenity. uca made his way to into the forest, his destination the black lake. This would be the first time in a while he headed into the forest with out having to go through the pain of transformation. That was normally why he headed in such a place. Luca looked at it, as Hogwart's way of trying to save the students. Yet it was just another way to put shame on being a werewolf, banishing them to such extents. In more ways then one he was like his father, however he dread that thought as well. At least he liked the rush of danger and the creatures that lurked within, the spring obis.
Stuffing his hands into his pants pockets, his feet sunk in the mud causing him to smile. There was something about the earth under his feet that made him powerful in his mind. It felt in control, he enjoyed this as one of his own alpha qualities. The sounds of the forest caused him to narrow his eyes, there was no fear in his heart but he was never aware of his surroundings. A human scent was not far away and it was vivid it was a female. Luce wondered if he felt like he wanted company, as his green eyes drifted to the awful potion that he held. If the boy had it his way he would never take the potion. It was said to make transformation easier but in Luca's mind it made the wolves weak. Weak so their senses were dull, as if it would stop them from ripping into something. The boy was always in a negative mind state now a days. Perhaps he did need to stop dwelling on his past and move on. Emotions were for the weak, he had made that clear to himself, but he wouldn't mind some interaction. It could be good for the wolf's spirits.
Luca walked toward the scent, his heightened hearing capturing music. Music would sooth the soul of any savage beast. The boy closed his eyes and followed the music humming to himself. Why did he know this song? The boy loved some muggle music, and secretly to himself he'd sing and play piano. It was a hobby but one that very few knew of. Coming out of the trees his green gaze locked on Vicks. Well this was a shocker, he didn't know she could actually sing. As she started the song and got to the third line he walked close and started t sing as well. "I'm telling you that, it's never that bad. Take it from someone who's been where you're at." He sung taking a seat beside her insisting with hand gestures that she continue to play. "Laid out on the floor, And you're not sure you can take this anymore." After finishing the first verse he smirked looking over the water for a moment. "I didn't know you could sing, then again everyone likes music." Luca stated in a dazed state allowing the water's crystals to capture his attention. For a moment he felt odd sitting beside the girl most grew a strong dislike for. In honesty he disliked her at one point himself and the two broke down walls becoming not quite friends, but something close to the standings. He glanced up looking for over for a moment. "What's on your mind Vicky?" Luca didn't care of she corrected him on the nick name of his choice, he was probably one of the only people to get away with suck things. The wolf boy lay back looking at the sky enjoying the feeling of nature so close to him. TAG;; Vicks Thorne WORD COUNT;;853 CREDIT;;Krys! NOTES;;And so it begins

Just as she had started to sing the next few words of the song, she heard another voice cut into the song and she turned her head to find none other than Luca Greyback approaching her. She almost faltered with the notes when he sang, but she managed to keep it together as she joined him in the song. She never knew that he could sing, though she figured he was thinking the same exact thing about her right now. He gestured for her to continue playing so she did, and the two continued to sing the song together. She wasn’t sure if she should admit it or not, but they sounded pretty good together and she made sure to harmonize with his notes, which only made it seem as if they had practiced this song together before their current improvisation.
When the first verse came to an end, she stopped playing when he spoke outside of the song. She gave a small smile when he told her that he didn’t’ know she could sing and slowly nodded her head at him. “Music is a universal language,” she said to him when he added that everyone liked music. “Most don’t, but that’s just the tip of what people don’t know about me,” she said as she turned her head away from him and gazed out at the water before them. Even Luca didn’t know a lot about her, though he knew a bit more than most people did. The walls that they both had up were brought down a bit last year and they’ve had somewhat of a better understanding of one another since. They weren’t the greatest of friends yet but they were more than what most people were to her.
He asked her what was on her mind and she turned to look at him when he chose the nickname Vicky to call her. She didn’t really do nicknames and it was rare that anyone other than Harley called her Vicks or anything other than Victoria. Normally, she would correct him and tell him not to call her that, but she didn’t care right now. It was inconsequential at the moment so she saw no need or desire to have him call her anything else. He was one of very few people who she would allow to call her anything aside from Victoria. There was a part of her that wanted to tell him that there was nothing on her mind, but that would be a downright lie and, considering that he was one of her few friends, she didn’t want to lie to him.
She didn’t want to tell him the whole truth either, though she was sure he knew even a little bit more than he let on. “I want to say nothing,” she admitted to him, unsure of why she had even said that, “but I can’t to you,” she said, her eyes watching the sun reflecting off the water. “but, at the same time, I’m not ready to share it,” she told him as she then returned her gaze to him as he was now laying down on the blanket that was beneath them. “I decided to come out here and practice a bit,’ she told him, gesturing to the bag she’d brought with her containing her music. “I’ve been teaching myself for the last couple of years… I’ve never had the chance to learn before now,” she told him. “What about you? What are you doing out here by yourself?” she asked.

Music was a hidden passion of Luca's. It was something he could find peace in even with the circumstances he was dealt. The beautiful lyrics of a song writer, that could change one's mood instantly was amazing. Comparing situations, and relating to the music was also something he could do. This just being one of the many reasons he was passionate about it. Many nights he would have been strutting around the Greyback manor, singing while doing everything. Cleaning was easier, even showering was. When Vicks claimed music was a universal language he saw truth to her words instantly nodding. When she finished her statement on how people didn't know things about her Luca shrugged it off. The boy wasn't really in that broad of standing with her. On one hand he didn't know her story, and on the other he knew there was a reason she acted the way she did. There was an understand but he dare not pry at something so tender.
Luca wasn't a councilor, he liked his own privacy, so why would he go into the mind of another? Personal things should be exposed when the person holding them was ready to do just that. Though he was persistent and highly stubborn, Victoria trusted him for the most part, from what he could tell, just to be be close enough to coming to an understanding of her. Friendship with this girl wasn't something everyone had. Luca guess he had warmed up to her with all the bickering in the past. Although they were both head strong, and had their own beliefs but there was some common ground that bonded them. Hence why he was sitting here so close to the girl singing by her side. The lake was beautiful and originally he could walk out here, and put his feet in the water unaffected by the temperature. It was nice being around nature was something that just soothed his inner beast. Not that he could put those feelings into words most of the time.
When answering his question he quirked an eyebrow at her first thought escaping her full lips. He stared blankly at her for a moment letting her finish her thoughts. Her words sinking into him for a moment. "You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to Vic, No pressure. And I don't mean that to be one of those when someone says, no pressure and there really is pressure, type of things." Luca stated he knew if something was bugging her she could deal with it herself. The girl seemed independent enough, although he wished he could understand, with time he might be able to. As she spoke of her intentions for the day he thought it couldn't be too bad. Practicing something you were good at or dedicated to was always ambitious in his view. It showed dedication which was impressive in its self. Vicks turned the the question back on him and he looked at the lake's ripples. "As much as I don't like this expression, my time of the month is coming up, and it's best for me to start distancing myself from others. It avoids fights and physical interactions." Luca admitted calmly. "I always find peace in the forest and I hid a bottle of rum in there, I was going to retrieve it but music caught my attention, so here I am." Luca added looking down at her as she now faced the sky.
"Since when am I not by myself Vicks? As you know I'm not Mr. Popularity, and I don't surround myself with others, it's foolish." Luca hissed unsure why she made it apparent he was out by his lonesome. Luca was always a loner unless it came to being surrounded by his family. Now a days he changed, became cold. Most couldn't handle his attitude and if they felt daring he'd have no problem putting another in their place. "You know, I am so sick of these fancy balls and being alone at them, though I like my space it's sort of depressing." Luca stated looking over to her, wondering if she ever felt the same. He was just making conversation, naturally he'd base his concerns to her. "So are we going to sit here and chat all day or shall we go on a nature hike and get this bottle?" Luca asked he wondered what a drunk Vicks would be like. It couldn't be too bad, but he was also not a baby sitter. "However, I think drinking would impair your ability to teach yourself, and play." Luca stated unsure of his next moves. TAG;; Vicks Thorne WORD COUNT;;796 CREDIT;;Krys! NOTES;; :]

She didn’t bother to suppress the smile that pulled at her lips when Luca told her that she didn’t have to tell him anything she didn’t feel comfortable telling him, and had even gone on to say that he wasn’t putting pressure on her like others would for such information. “Ah, yes, the elusive ‘no pressure’ statement,” she said with a smirk. She knew that sentiment well, even though she never caved into such words. She’s heard it said many times over by people, those who still wanted the information but wanted the other person to think that they were actually giving it freely and on their own volition. Reverse psychology was a glorious thing, when it worked, and Vicks has seen it used on many of occasions. “And thank you. I hope to tell you some day,” she said genuinely.
There was a part of her that wanted to tell him, to tell someone, about her past and the things that she’s endured. Well, okay, so Harley knew about it, but the Gryffindor’s memory wasn’t the best so she probably didn’t even remember what it was in the first place. Not that Vicks minded though, since she wasn’t usually open to sharing such intimate details about herself. Even Luca’s half-brother Kieran didn’t know and the two of them lived at the same orphanage. Vicks wasn’t overly close with most of the people there though, Kieran included, though they did have some more civilized conversations than she did with most of the other orphanage inhabitants. They both seemed more than okay with that though, so she didn’t see a need to change that just yet. she wasn’t sure Kieran wanted that to change either, so there was no point to think on it.
Vicks smirked when Luca told her that, while he hated referring to it in such a way, was closing in on his time of the month and needed to distance himself from people. She could appreciate that idea, and even more so for him and what he became every month. She was sure it wasn’t easy for him, but she also knew that there was no way to help him either, as much as she wished she could. “Well, if you ever wanted company for that time, I’d happily transform and roam the forest with you,” she said with a grin. She didn’t know if he would accept such an offer, but he wouldn’t be able to turn her if she was in her animagus form. “And you’re always welcome to listen, or request a private performance,” she told him with a slight smile. It was rare that she spent time with people, so she wouldn’t deny it when it did come about.
She felt her smile falter slightly when he asked her when he wasn’t alone. She knew he was a loner, just like she was, but she hadn’t meant anything by it. She looked away from him, hoping he didn’t see the hint of hurt in her eyes as he seemingly took her words in the wrong way. She knew better than to say anything else about it though. It would only spark an argument and she wasn’t in the mood for a fight today. She turned back to face him when he said that he disliked being alone when it came to the balls the school held every so often. “I know what you mean. It’s as if they are just a constant reminder that we’re alone and have no one else,” she said bitterly. She was sure her personality was also part of why she was alone, though she liked to believe that she was alone because she wanted to be.
She smirked when he asked if they were going to sit here and chat all day or head into the Forbidden Forest to get the bottle he mentioned he had stashed away earlier. “I’m game if you are,” she said as she then took her guitar and placed it into its case. She didn’t drink too much, but she could hold her own when she did. She’s never actually had the pleasure of sharing a bottle with Luca before and she was sure that it would be a most intriguing event indeed. She chuckled when he told her that drinking would impair her ability to play and practice her guitar. “That’s all right. I can practice anytime I want,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders as she then closed her case and began to gather up her sheet music. She then took out her want and shrunk down her guitar case and bag of music so she could stick them in her pocket. “Lead the way then,” she said as she gestured for him to take her to his bottle.

It was never him to force the issue, Luca was simply one who dealt with a lot himself. The boy felt if someone wanted to speak on a matter they would address it, forceful was never his style. In a way he hoped someday he could pick up and learn the pages that where Victoria Thorne. Til then he would let her speak and unfold on her own terms. She seemed grateful for his patients. It was really so trouble at all but he shrugged it off not speaking more on the topic. When he walked up she may have been singing but there wasn't that normal sparkle in her green eyes, therefore she must gave been down. Luca was only one to have fun once in a while. Since he found out his mother died he wasn't much for normal conversation let alone fun. So Miss Thorne better be happy with his kind gesture of taking her away from her sad place. Luca didn't want to seek praise of any sort, he remembered the loyalty of friendship and how nice it was to have someone care. Overall betrayal stung him deep enough to produce trust issues that Vicks broke at a bit. In time he may value her true to him, but he just was cautious around women.
Vicks addressed she'd be happy to transform and go with him on his transformations. Then came his moment, Luca wasn't one to bring people around his transformation. It wasn't safe, he would run into blind rage, things he didn't know. Everything that once hurt would surface and he hated what became of him. The monster inside would want to hurt anyone for existing, and he could never quite grasp himself in those moments. It was rare Luca didn't control himself, but when angry he'd snap. Do things he normally wouldn't. The last girl to stay by his side became his lover, he even pushed her away at the right time. It wasn't safe, and he refused to put one of the only people he cared the slightest amount about in danger. Luca wouldn't even let his siblings that didn't inherit the gene in the forest on that night, the guilt he'd feel if Vicks ever got hurt would consume him. "No." Luca stated blunt shaking his head looking directly into her eyes. He narrowed his own green orbs focused on her in a moment of harsh reality. "You may be a little adventurous, and totally independent but I will not take on the burden of what could happen if you came with me. I just...erm, care? I guess and I'm not putting you in danger." Luca was trying to be nice, showed he cared but he wasn't good with words of compassion as he blushed at his own thoughts. Pathetic he reminded himself going into a dazed state.
The boy ruffled his hair and looked around at his surroundings. What are you doing Luca? He mentally addressed himself staring into the forest. Times like these he wished he could run away and just sulk or hit something. How stupid he felt whenever he tried to make things clear, and show feelings. It was enough to make one want to scream, but if no one was around, who would hear? Luca didn't need help, he needed that drink, it was imbedded in his mind. When Vicks spoke on his comment about the ball, and being lonely he snapped back from his state of mind. "That it is, I don't remember the last time I attended one of those events honestly, nor do I really think I'd miss the anxiety of being in a crowded space." Luca added. Luca was once popular, even with his last name before he found out his life was a lie. Despite his last name he used to have a great personality, a little broken around the edges but never the less not the cold person he had become. It wasn't something he wanted to over analyze. He lost everything due to his cold behavior, he didn't need to dwell on misery.
Vicks mentioned she'd play for him privately if he requested it, and it made him think about how his ex used to sing for him. Quickly he pushed away his thoughts not wanting to remind himself of the past. "I mean the day after the full moon is the hardest, I usually feel pretty low not to mention I'm in a mass amount of pain, maybe we could come out here to the lake and I can lay down and you can play me something soft, while I recover?" Luca asked looking over to her. The boy wasn't sure if Vicks would have plans of any sort but, he figured it would be a time he'd actually lay down and listen. Luca would have appreciated it, but he could always recover on his own. It was just a suggestion however, he got mad at the thought of being rejected or denied. Nothing could break his ego, and pride but the words of a female, how pitiable.
When the girl agreed to go into the forest with him he smirked. "Now all your missing is the red hood." He teased his reference to Little Red Riding Hood, a girl going into the forest with a wolf like himself, it was humorous to him. A muggle tale of course, but he had nothing against that. Luca started to walk into the woods, he was barefoot avoiding sharp rocks and broken glass as he weaved his way to where he stashed the bottle. Even through the bottle he could sniff out the alcohol. Being a werewolf was amazing at times, at least he'd never lose an item. Luca took out a backpack from one of the hallow trees. He reached in putting out a bottle with a couple glasses. The boy filled both, handing one to Victoria, he took a drink not cringing from the liquid. "So now we drink away the lonely feelings, and you come over here and sit close to me." Luca stated pulling out a blanket from the bag, spreading it over the leaves that would provide cushion. The boy took a seat and and sipped his drink once more, it was rare Luca let people close to him, but he wasn't even sure at this point she was going to follow his orders. The younger girl may have took his words wrong, or anything could flow through her mind. What happened, he used to be so charming but now he was painfully awkward, at least to his viewing. Victoria hadn’t expected Luca to accept her offer of some company during his ‘time of the month’ since she knew him to be a loner just as she was, but even she had to agree that some company when one was at their worst wasn’t so bad. She didn’t usually care for companionship, but she doubted she would decline spending time with someone she cared for, or felt close enough to. However, when he answered her with a resounding ‘no’, Vicks had been a bit taken aback. She was about to question his initial response to her offer when he elaborated on his answer. She understood why he was afraid for anyone to be around him when he was transformed. He could easily hurt them and he didn’t want that on his conscience.
Vicks had no way of knowing if being bitten while in her animagus form would turn her into a werewolf, though she was sure that she could put up a pretty good fight if he did try something. She couldn’t’ help but smile slightly when he admitted that he cared about her and that he didn’t want to put her in danger. “I totally understand,” she said softly with a nod of her head, “but the offer will stand for when you feel like you do want some company,” she said to him with a soft smile. Victoria ran one of her hands through her hair, her fingers getting tangled in a few of her dark locks. She wasn’t trying to flirt with him or anything; Vicks didn’t flirt, but Luca was her friend and she would help him if he needed it.
When the topic of being alone and school social functions came up, Victoria felt a slight pang of guilt and regret hit her deep within her core. There was a part of her that wished she had been the opposite of what she was, a bit more sociable and forgiving of a person. She nodded and snickered when he agreed with her, though she found herself frowning when he told her that he couldn’t remember the last time he attended one of them. “I’ve never attended one,” she said as her eyes cast out over the lake. “Maybe we should go to the next one, for shits and giggles,” she said as she turned her head to look at him. “As friends, of course,” she added, though regretting her words immediately after saying them.
When she had offered to play for him if he wanted, she hadn’t really expected him to take her up on the offer. She wouldn’t be upset if he didn’t, but she was surely surprised when he did. He had told her that the day after his transformation was the hardest and that he usually felt his lowest then. She frowned at his words, but said nothing as he continued. She nodded her head when he suggested that she come out to the lake and play for him while he recovered. “Of course I will,” she said to him as she laid her guitar to the side and brought her knees up to her chest. “what are friends for if they can’t help a friend in need?” she said rhetorically as she gave him a half-smile.
Once the plan had turned into them heading into the forest to have a drink, she started to get her things together so she could follow him into the forest. She laughed when he told her that all she was missing was a red hood. It had taken her a moment to realize what he meant by that, but she found it rather funny once she understood it. “Mine would be black if I had one,” she said with a smirk as she followed him into the forest. “Can your big eyes find our destination okay?” she asked him with a smirk, carrying on the Little Red riding Hood joke he had started. She watched him take a backpack from a hollowed out tree and her eyes fell upon the bottle he pulled out of it.
Her eyes followed the dark liquid as it fell from the bottle and into the two glasses he pulled out along with the bottle. She reached out and took the glass he handed her, pulling it closer to her body as she watched him for a moment. He took a sip and she did the same thing. The liquid burned on the way down, but it didn’t bother her much. She watched him pull a blanket out of the bag and couldn’t’ help but smirk when he told her to come over and sit with him on the blanket while they drank away their lonely feelings. “Then here’s to walking our lonely road,” she said with a grin as she moved over to him and lowered herself down next to him, clinking her glass against his before taking another sip from hers.

Luca wasn't the type to bring others around danger. Being in his werewolf state, he rarely could remember events. Often he'd wake up nude the next morning, with some dead animal corps beside him, and a bunch of his pack sprawled out in the forbidden forest. Those mornings it was hardest just to motivate himself to find his clothing, and get to the hospital wing, to treat his aches. The mood swings were horrid as well, he was often saddened in reflection of his past the day after. Not many knew his story, not even Scarlett, which was probably why she cheated on him. The sudden coldness in his behavior, due to the guilt that consumed his mind was overbearing and he didn't have many he'd speak to. Often he'd grab Star or Kieran, whose who knew his story and they'd exchange details and feelings, but Luca was far from an emotional being. Somethings were better kept inside, til he had the strength to handle them on his own. Luca's morals wouldn't change.
At Vicks telling him she understood, he quirked an eyebrow wondering if she was just saying that. Her second words made him wonder if she was still on topic, or just speaking in general. Both of them were loners, and he knew that to be true. She wasn't like most females surrounding herself with friends of all types. Rather then that she had very few. The bubbly Gryffindor girl, and himself were all he truly knew of, but it wasn't Luca's job to pry into details of Victoria's social life. The boy himself only was close to his pack, and few that had earned a level of respect from him. If you didn't make friends there would be less chances of being betrayed. Less chances of being hurt, which he liked the idea of. Luca had trouble allowing others to get close, but some escaped his impossible standards.
The next ball? Would Luca Greyback actually attend a ball? Dressed to the nine when he was used to just clothing covering his private parts. When not in class he'd often be seen half naked, so for him to get into some kind of suit would be a shocker to most. The boy even bent the rules on his school uniform, often getting detention for breaking dress code, so this would be odd for him to get fancy. Vicks had never attended a ball, this was odd to him. Who wouldn't want a pretty girl on their arm to attend a social event? Well maybe she made it impossible for a guy to ask her out. She wasn't exactly miss popularity. Though he knew her to like her reputation. At her suggestion he smirked to himself, nodding. "Was that you way of asking me to the Sadie Hawkins dance, Vicky?" Luca teased catching her next words. "Of course I'll be your friendly date." He agreed, it may be fun, and it would be nice to be the one she had the experience with. There was something special about being the first one to do something for someone. That had always been the way he viewed it. She agreed to play for him as they ventured into the woods and he couldn't help to smile a bit. Not sure if he'd ask her, out of pride, but if it came down to it he basically exposed his recovering place lake side. It meant a lot but, he didn't thank her, he just nodded. Luca didn't need to say anything else on the topic.
A black hood? "Why black?" Luca asked walking through the forest. At her comment he chuckled and nodded. "If they couldn't see it, I could sniff it out." Luca stated explaining his heightened senses. Once they arrived he got comfortable. The forest set a decent mood for him and when she obliged to sit beside him he put his arm around her shoulders feeling protective. Luca always felt this way in the forest during this time of day. There was no telling what creatures lurked, but he'd sense them before they got too close. Tapping his glass against hers he smirked at her words. "Does the road have to be lonely?" He asked sipping his drink looking into her green orbs. Being a werewolf was never a lonely thing, it was more along the lines of a forever bonded family. Of course there were strays but it was far from a lonely journey. "Your never alone, you'll always be part of my pack, and when ever you need me, I'll be here for you." Luca started rubbing her arm as he took another drink of the caramel colored liquor. In his words there was nothing but truth and loyalty. TAG;; Vicks Thorne WORD COUNT;;792 CREDIT;;Krys! NOTES;; :]

She noticed that Luca hadn’t said anything in response to her comment about understanding his fears of hurting her, or anyone, but that her offer still stood if he ever changed his mind. It made her curious to know what he was thinking about what she said, but she was sure she didn’t need to ask him. She knew him well enough to know that he would say what was on his mind without hesitation, and she also knew that even those who didn’t know him very well were well aware of that fact. If he didn’t want company, then that was his business. She had no idea what it was like to be a werewolf and she figured that he was much more versed in that fact that she was.
When she told him that they should go to the next dance together, she hadn’t initially meant for it as a date, or to actually ask him to be her date to a dance. That was why she had quickly added that they go as friends; she didn’t want him to think that she was asking him out or anything. He asked her if that was her way of asking him to the Sadie Hawkins dance the school was to be having soon and she just shrugged her shoulders and smirked at him. “You can take that however you want,” she said, leaving it at that. He said he would go and she felt her smirk turn into a real smile. “Then it’ll be my first, and probably last,” she told him.
As the two walked into the forest, he seemed a bit surprised by her comment about her wearing a black hood instead of a red one and she just smirked at him. “Because i’ve always liked black more than red,” she told him, “even if I can pull off red really well,” she told him. She didn’t usually wear bright colors, or nice clothes in general. Truth be told, she didn’t have anything nice to wear, as she had no real money to buy anything, so the thought of having to dress up for this next dance actually unnerved her, and scared her too. She giggled when he told her that he could smell if he couldn’t see. “I was referencing Little Red Riding Hood with that one,” she said to him as she followed him.
When they had arrived to their destination, Victoria couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous about how deep into the forest they had gone. She’s ventured this deep before, if not deeper, when in her animagus form, but it was different now. Luca must have sensed her nervousness because he slipped an arm around her after she had come to sit beside him and it instantly made her feel safer. She never usually felt safe in a man’s arms, or with anyone really, so this took her a bit by surprise; she knew she’d never tell him this though, or anyone else for that matter. She had toasted to walking a lonely road and he asked her if it had to be lonely. She looked up at him and tried to find the words to reply to that, but she couldn’t.
She thought about what he had asked and she knew the answer to that, even if it hurt to admit. “It always has been,” she said softly before looking away from his gaze. She’s never told a soul about what happened to her when she was a young girl, and what her parents had done to her. She didn’t want people knowing that she used to have to steal food to eat, or that she had barely managed to scrape by without being thrown in jail or worse. She didn’t want their pity. She looked back up at him when he told her that she would never be alone and that she was a part of his pack, and that he’d always be there for her when she needed him.
It felt nice to have someone say that, even if she was a bit skeptical about it. Nothing against him though; she was just not one to put too much faith in someone, not until they have proven that they are trustworthy. So far, Luca has done so, but what he was saying now was a big deal to her and she knew that she’d need proof of his words to know they were true. “I’ll remember that, though I am not so sure the rest of your pack would think too highly of me becoming an honorary member,” she said with a sigh as she leaned her head on his shoulder, trying to ignore the warmth that his rubbing hand was spreading throughout her body. She took another sip of her drink as she wondered what she should say next.

The mind of the alpha wolf was a confusing one. Luca never said too much, but never really left a questioning to his reason. There were few to go against his word, in fear of his aggressive personality, but never did he strike without reason. Luca didn't need to explain things more then he wanted to, and he would be ever so blunt if others forced the issue. If there was something on his mind that needed to be said, he'd have no problem speaking on the matter. It was just something he wanted to avoid. When being a werewolf, one needed personal time and refection. The word monster came into play, and that's when others started to realize it wasn't the brightest idea to push. Avoiding an argument he decided not to speak more on the invitation to accompany him into the forest. It was only care that made him push her away, though he could tell by her expression she was trying to read more into it all. It should blow over, and that's why he let it.
The dance wasn't a priority of his, but he did want to let Vicks enjoy the occasion for once. Why drain the fun from someone who hadn't let it set it? The boy could see it now, he'd pick up her trying to be as chic as possible, then they could go and dance the night away. When she said he could take it how he wanted he frowned, was that not what she was doing. No Luca was not good with girls, nor the thought of rejection. Calming himself he let her finish her words. First and last, should be feel privileged? No of course not, she should be happy he was attending the bloody event with her. Luca sighed, girls, there were a million ways of saying no, and only some of them meant yes. "Then I hope you can dance, and you have something pretty to wear." Luca stated, he wasn't sure of her wealth status but he made it clear she should be somewhat formal. If Luca was dressing up so wasn't Victoria, and if she didn't know she was not his date, she sure as hell did now. Women, confusion to a whole new degree if you asked him. The the movement happened and the topic was changed.
Black was such a dark and gloomy color, one to match his very own soul. At her words he smirked to himself and lead the way. "So your going to wear red to the dance?" Luca asked pushing the issue. It was kind of fun just getting a reaction but over all he wanted her to know he was planning on attending. Being stood up, or snuffed would probably cause a trigger in his mind, and he wouldn't be so nice on the next meeting. Nor would he talk at all on the matter, putting ones fate in the hands of another was dangerous in general. The boy knew this, but something made his tension feel the slightest but relaxed. At the drinking spot he relaxed enjoying the elements. The nature brought more of a calming feeling and his over all anxiety faded into the sounds of the forest.
After sipping down, and passing off the bottle a couple times he felt a little courageous placing his arm around her. Not a flinch or an objection so it it was assumed she didn't mind his gesture. Speaking on being lonely he watched her look away, and right away he could tell by the pacing of her heart something was wrong. There must have been something that connected the word lonely to the girl, but he would push the issue nor pry at it. The boy himself knew the feeling, being stone cold was not always easy. There was always a longing for someone to share the time with, there were just trust issues on who he'd allow that close. After telling her she was part of his pack, knowing she wasn't of his kind he read her reaction. The brown haired girl must have not held full faith in his words. So be it, if he had to prove himself the time would come were he would do so. Naturally he was protective of those he considered loyal, but offering himself as an alpha was a big deal for him. Giving one so much loyalty he'd do anything to keep them safe, offering guidance and unconditional love. This was the way of the wolf, and at her words he frowned. "No one can second my decision Victoria, your forgetting that." Luca stated, so what if she wasn't of his kind. The boy once offered Scarlett the same, and with respect the pack took her in as one. Taking another drink from the bottle he passed it to Vicks. It was going to be a long evening and he could already see it. TAG;; Vicks Thorne WORD COUNT;;825 CREDIT;;Krys! When he had first asked her if she was trying to ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance, she wasn’t sure what to say, so she said the first thing that came to mind. It was probably not the best thing to say to him, but she didn’t have anything else to say. She hadn’t initially meant for it to be an invitation, but that was how he took it and she wasn’t going to contradict him. If anything, it would be a fun night, her first and last dance at Hogwarts. She didn’t see anything wrong with that idea. And then he told her that he hoped she knew how to dance and had something nice to wear. Her smile faded slightly, though she hoped he didn’t notice. She didn’t have anything formal, or the money to buy anything, for this dance. She didn’t know what to say without making her real situation known to him.
She was sure that he would get upset with her for declining, especially after she had initially said that she would go to her first and last dance with him. She knew that he wasn’t a fan of them anyway, so that should have been a good thing for him so that he could get out of the whole thing. The last thing she wanted to do was insult him, but she knew she would more than likely embarrass him if she showed up wearing something less than stellar or the fact that she couldn’t dance if her life depended on it. She didn’t want to admit it though. He knew nothing of her situation and she wanted to keep it that way, but how could she not explain it now that she just told him she couldn’t go? That was one of the reasons she never went to the dances in the first place.
She didn’t say anything at first though, not wanting to ruin the moment that they were having right now. She was actually enjoying herself and his company, something that was rather rare in itself. The last thing she wanted was to piss him off because she wouldn’t be able to go to the dance with him after all. But how was she supposed to tell him that? She had no idea, as this wasn’t the sort of thing she was good at when it came to interacting with other people. After the comment about her wearing red to the dance, she couldn’t help but frown at the thought as they made their way into the forest in search of the alcohol he said he had stashed away somewhere. She hoped they got there soon. She needed to calm her nerves down. And hopefully, after a few sips, she wouldn’t feel so bad about the dance idea.
“I’m not sure,” she answered, feeling this horrible sensation deep down in the pit of her stomach. She felt like she was lying to him now, even if she wasn’t really doing so, but she couldn’t help it either. It was hard for her to be in a situation like this, especially now that she basically had her first date ever and she would have to decline it. She didn’t want to, but she knew she would rather do it now than to do it later and cause even more damage to him, or her. As comfortable as she was in his arms, safe even, she knew telling him that she couldn’t go to the dance with him would ruin it all. She didn’t want to do it, but she knew that it was inevitable. It was either she tell him now or tell him later, though she was sure held be mad either way. He’d be angrier later though, that much she was sure of.
He didn’t seem to like her comment about his pack not being thrilled with her being made an honorary member, but she nodded when he told her that no one could go against him on it either. She was aware of what the alpha male’s role was in a pack, but she was also sure that the pack wouldn’t like the decision, even if they had no choice but to go along with it. As far as she knew, the only one in his pack she even remotely got along with was Kieran, but that was also because the two have lived in the same orphanage for a number of years now. “I’ll be sure to remember that,” she said. She liked the idea of having a family, even if it was something she knew nothing about. She didn’t know how to be in a family, so having her own was next to impossible for the fifth year.
As they continued to sit there drinking, her mind continued to think about the dance and whether or not she should tell him she couldn’t go. As much as she wanted to go, she knew she couldn’t. She wasn’t going to make a fool out of him there and she was surely not going to make a fool out of herself either. It wasn’t fair to him and she didn’t want to put him in that position. The more she prolonged this, the worse she felt. As they sat in the woods drinking the alcohol he had gotten for them, she could feel herself getting nervous about the whole idea. After taking another sip, she cleared her throat and spoke once more. “I- I don’t think I can go to the dance with you,” she said suddenly, averting her eyes. “I’m sorry,” she said, hoping he wasn’t too angry with her. “It’s not because of you though, I promise. I just…” she said, trailing off as she realized she was about to say too much.

To attend such an event with female company would be interesting. Luca hadn't really connected with another girl since his first love. The female mind was not one, he was really contemplating breaking down. Luca did have an occasional fling here and there, but something about being around Vicks make his guard go down the slightest bit. It was nice being able to conversant, and understand what someone else thought. Not being seen as the monster some would assume he was. Luca was a cruel person when he had to be, there was no hiding that, nor was there hiding the fact he had a hell of a temper. Yet he didn't feel angry or cruel, he felt calm, relaxed even.
The boy wasn't really even sure he could still dance. It had been quite some time since he had attended anything formal. Luca could always test it out with one of his sisters. Of course he'd swear the girl to secrecy, he could only imagine something like that leaking out to the school. Greyback's sister slow dancing, with him. The thought was irreverent after speaking on making Vicks part of his family. Everyone needed someone in the world to keep them from misery. Luca found it nice to have his family there for him, if not anyone of another family line. Werewolves always remained in a pack, though some scattered around during the full moon. It was coming up actually, and he had almost regretted thinking of it while he was drinking. Luca swigged the drink, allowing himself to relax. Then words caused his mind to go blank and he looked into the green patterns of the forest.
Vick's explained she didn't think she could attend the dance with him, after the fact he had been thinking about it. It felt like a slap to the face, and set his ego on fire. Luca's narrowed his green eyes and said nothing trying to control the feelings of rejection and insecurity that now surfaced. The boy left himself shaking a bit, as he shot her a glare. "Not because of me? I'm so sure it's not. Your precious fierce image could be tampered with, by going to such a thing with someone like me." He hissed looking around. The world around him seemed red like blood, and he needed to get away. Get away from pain, and rejection before he snapped. Luca pushed himself to his feet running deeper into the forest. The rage filled his heart, as he ran through trees and thrones. He didn't care anymore.
When he figured he was far enough away he punched the nearest tree as hard as he could. He huffed angrily as he looked around seeing blood stained trees. The nerve of the girl messing with his feelings, leading him on like that. It was his fault for being a sucker, and believing in those green orbs of her's. The kind words, her offers where did he go wrong? Perhaps it was just too complex, to be around the monster that was Luca Greyback. He screamed as loud as he could, covering his ears and crouching down. It hurt, he wanted it to go away, and just for his feelings to be gone. How could he be so stupid? He closed his eyes trying to regain his composure. This was the weakest he had felt in a while, and once again do to a pretty girl. TAG;; Vicks Thorne WORD COUNT;;574 CREDIT;;Krys! Victoria knew that telling Luca she couldn’t go to the dance with him after all wouldn’t bode well with him. She knew that he wasn’t the most friendly of people, which she wasn’t either, but also that his heart was still on the mend after all the bullshit he had to deal with back when his now ex-girlfriend Scarlett had cheated on him. She hadn’t meant to hurt him, or lead him on in any way, but the idea of going at all, regardless of with him or anyone else, seemed less and less like a good idea than when she had inadvertently asked him to go with her earlier in their conversation.
The reaction she got was what she expected, though he seemed a bit more bothered by it than she would have thought. They were friends after all, or at least she thought that they were a loose form of friends, but she hadn’t expected him to get that worked up over it. At first, she thought he would pick up on her trepidation for going at all, even though his words to her about her sudden decline told her otherwise. If she could tell him the truth, she would, but she wasn’t sure it would matter, or that he would even understand her reasons.
She flinched at his words, feeling the harshness of his tone, and turned her face away from him as he stood up and began to walk away from her. She knew that she had quite the reputation for being an ice queen and for not having many positive relationships in her life, but she wanted it that way. Didn’t she? She was okay with that as her life. Wasn’t she? She didn’t even know anymore, but she found herself feeling an entirely different set of emotions right now as she then turned her eyes back to him and watched him take his leave from where they had been sitting together.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered as she felt her heart swell with an unknown emotion. She then felt a tear escape from the corner of her eye and fall down her cheek as her eyes remained fixated on the spot where Luca had once been. He was really angry with her, she was sure of it. She was also sure that their friendship was over now, or whatever sort of relationship they had once had. She wasn’t sure what else to say now, and actually thought of not saying anything at all, though she knew he was owed an explanation. She wanted to explain it to him, which would be the first time she’s ever felt this way. With that solitary thought in her head, the tears began to fall freely from her eyes. She buried her head in her arms as she let them pour out. The last thing she wanted was for someone to come upon her and catch her crying. Most have never even gotten a positive reaction from her in all of her years at Hogwarts, so for someone to catch her crying now would only make it all so much worse; it would diminish the fierce reputation she had, or so Luca had called it, something she felt was just as deserving to him as it was to her.
