Somthin filled up my heart with nothing… …Someone told me not to cry

Can zis place get any louder, Angelique thought bitterly. The Hufflepuff Common seemed to rise in volume with every passing second. Apparently everyone who had free time scheduled for this hour decided that the Common Room was the best place to spend that time. Angelique had chosen the location because she thought everyone would be outside enjoying the rare sunshine that now shown on the grounds, but she’d been wrong. Across the room, next to the fire, sat a particularly loud group of students who weren’t really doing much of anything apart from getting on Angelique’s nerves. Finally unable to take the noise much longer, she dug in her robes pocket and pulled out her wand. No one was looking at her, they were all too preoccupied with themselves to notice her sitting alone at the base of the dorm steps.
Before anyone could take notice, Angelique waved her wand at a vase of flowers just to her left, “Wingardium Leviosa.” She whispered, doing the correct swish and flick motion she had been taught. It might have been one of the first charms she learned, but it was effective and great for pranks. Slowly she assisted the vase as it rose higher towards the ceiling, making sure that no one saw her wand moving, finally when the vase was placed in the open area in front of the fire, directly in the center of the loud group, Angelique smirked and broke concentration with the spell. As the vase fell, she looked away and stowed her wand back in her robes before all hell broke loose.
The reaction was instantaneous; the vase fell in what appeared to be slow motion. A few people in the group saw the clear vase falling and so reacted faster than the others who only heard the glass shattering. Those who saw the vase started to jump out of the way and warn their companions, but before the warning could escape their lips completely the vase shattered on the ground in front of them, sending glass, water and flower petals in every direction. Several people screamed, conversations stopped, the fire in the hearth hissed as water splashed into it, no one spoke; at least at first. After the first initial shock wore off, some of the startled people farther away from the impact zone started laughing and looking for the master mind. Some of them looked at Angelique, but when everyone else reacted she forced herself to react as they did so as not to draw attention to her for the most part it worked until angers started to flare.
Several of the boys automatically jumped on her, yelling that they knew she had been the one who did it. With a smirk she stood up and faced her accusers. “You ‘ave no proof.” Though the boys were mad they knew she was right. Then they took another approach, assuring that they knew it was always her. “EEf you know eet eez always me, zen why do you look so confused?” With a laugh she grabbed her bag from the step she had been occupying and then pushed passed her accusers, “You might want to ‘eal zose nicks.” She pointed out helpfully, but on her way out she grabbed her wand again, pointed at a girl at random and said, “Densaugeo!”
Even in the hall as the entrance closed, Angelique could hear the girls screaming. Not particularly proud of what she’d done, Angelique sighed and slumped her shoulders as she wandered towards the grounds. Just outside the door she found a tree and plopped down under it. At first she held a strand of hair between her fingers and watched the highlights change color at random. Her mood was more or less neutral at that point so the majority of her highlights were a slightly darker color than the blond of her hair. It didn’t take long for her to get bored of watching her hair change color so she leaned her head against the tree and closed her eyes. Around her shoulders her hair continued to change because she wasn’t sure how she felt. Instead of just one group of hair changing, all the highlights she had changed color, sometimes they were all the same, other times they were all kinds of different colors. With a smile she wondered what her parents would say about her this time; if ever there was a time where she earned her nick name Moody, this was it.

Don't get too close, It's dark inside

Post by James Jason Black on Sept 26, 2013 17:46:07 GMT -5
The full moon was only 3 days away. James was already starting to feel shaky and sick. Being around the bustle of the great hall, even in the quite of the library, was too much for him. All the people in there, crowding around him, expecting normalcy from him. He could give that to them normally, but now with his change so close he just couldn't take it. So he retreated to the place where he could breath, where he could think.
The wind whipped through his hair and stung his face, the air carried the sent of rain. Dark clouds rolled over the sky, chasing away the sunlight and smothering the land with its cold breath. James pulled his cloak tighter around his front, folding his arms tightly on his chest as he walked out toward the lake. He tried to put on a happy face for the people he passed, luckily there were not many students out in this weather. Most people were inside studying for final exams, doing homework, or (more likely) just goofing off.
Next to the lake, nestled back in some trees was a bench. It was seldom occupied, which made it the perfect hideout for James when he didn't want to talk to anyone. It also happened to have quite a few interesting plants around it. James plopped his bag down on the ground next to the bench and sat on the cold stone. He pulled out a leather-bound sketchbook and his quill and ink. Flipping open to his notebook to a marked page, he continued his drawing of an interesting plant that had a sweet aroma when raindrops hit its leaves. He had been working on his study drawing of this plant for a few days and was planning on doing some more research in the library once he was feeling better.
He lost track of time. He stopped once to cast a spell over his paper so it wouldn't get wet. The next time he looked up the sky was blue again and the chilling breeze was back. He closed his book and ink and stuck them in his bag. He set his hands behind him, leaning back on them and raising his head toward the sky, taking in the slight warmth of the sun. He wondered what Rachel was doing right now. He had just left her in the library without any explanation. She had done the same to him before.
The chill from the lake started to seep toward his bench, at the same time a chill creep up his spine bringing on an attack of shivers. He doubled over, dropping off of the bench and onto his knees, shivering violently. He waited for the attack to pass, it always passed. Not before the shivering turned to pain, but it still passed. Some days it just took. Longer. Than. Others. "GHAAAA!" the yell of pain escaped his mouth, past his gritted teeth. It was only seconds after that, he knew because he counted them, that the shivering stopped. His exhausted muscles instantly relaxed. His eyes closed and his head sunk to the wet ground. He could just rest here for a few moments, then he could make his way back to the castle.

Somthin filled up my heart with nothing… …Someone told me not to cry
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angelique took in a deep breath and rolled her head from side to side against the trees trunk. A light breeze kicked up around her. Because she was alone, she allowed a smile to creep across her face. Had she been in the presence of, well anyone, she would never have let herself show just how comfortable she was becoming. It was not in her nature to show weakness of any kind and comfort, in her mind, was a kind of weakness. At the moment she was so at peace that she could have easily fallen asleep, but something in the back of her mind told her it wasn’t safe. Not unsafe in the sense that someone was going to come and attack her, but in the sense that her stolen alone time would most likely be short lived. It wasn’t that she really preferred to be alone, but sometimes she just had to get away from the stupidity of the castle.
For a time the weather stayed decent, but it was obvious that it was about to change. On the breeze that danced around her she could smell the light hint of rain. It wasn’t that Angelique was bothered by rain, but the fact that she had finally found somewhere to have her peace and now it was being threatened… that’s what annoyed her. She continued to sit there, with her eyes closed, even as the clouds rolled in. The way the shadows danced accost her vision made Angelique even more tired. She was glad that she had this time alone, but sleeping was starting to sound better and better, which made her want her bed, but that involved moving which was something she didn’t fancy. She didn’t even want to move when the rain started falling. It was then that she fully appreciated that she’d found a tree to sit under, at least the leaves blocked most of the rain. Granted a few drops got though, but the feel of the cold liquid didn’t bother her much, it actually made her feel alive, which sometimes she wondered if she was or not.
As Angelique had suspected, her time alone was about to come to an end. From not too far away she heard someone cry out in pain. Angelique’s eyes snapped open. Slowly she tuned towards the direction the noise had come from, but saw nothing really. ’Ow far waz zat? Something about the pain in the, Waz zat a boy?, in the voice that she heard sounded almost as if they were being tortured. She knew she should probably go check on whoever had cried out, but it wasn’t really what she wanted to do. Eet eez zee right sing. With a slight growl, she grabbed her bag and stood up, brushing herself off. Slowly she walked towards the lake where the sound had come from. As she approached she saw other students looking around to see who had made the sound, but unlike her they didn’t move. Cowards, she thought bitterly. She knew she was slightly annoyed and when she glanced at her hair she saw that her high lights were orange, not a pretty look for her. Even though she finally knew how she felt, she wasn’t sure why she felt that way. Was it the fact that her shoes were now wet from the rain? Or the fact that she was looking for someone she didn’t know to make sure that they weren’t dead? Or was it that it was she and not someone else that had been concerned enough to actually check on the person? Whatever it was, she was annoyed because of it.
As she got closer to where she was sure the person and been, she realized that they hadn’t cried out again. Stopping suddenly she scowled at the back of a tree in front of her. How could she have been roused from her comfort to pursue someone that was probably attacked by his own friends. Angelique made a disgusted noise in the back of her throat and scrunched her eyes tightly closed. Her lips pursed tightly together as she let out a sigh and started to turn, but when her eyes opened she looked at the base of the tree and saw something she had not expected. There, in what looked like a crumpled heap, was the body of a boy. It was obvious that this had been the boy who had cried out. Angelique stood there for a few more seconds and noticed that the boy hadn’t moved. With a sigh, Angelique rolled her eyes and advanced towards the boy cautiously. As she got closer she shifted her eyes around the grounds, looking for anyone that might be fleeing the scene. What she saw instead were several curious faces watching her intently. This made Angelique mad. Her highlights turned blood red, her eyes turned to match. “Oh no don’t rush to ‘elp, but crane your pathetic necks to make sure ‘e eesn’t dead.” Angelique’s voice carried across the grounds which caused every head to turn away. With another sigh she crossed the distance between herself and the boy. Crouching, she touched his shoulder and lowered her voice, anger still coursing through her. ”’Ey, are you alright?” She asked, her voice slightly more harsh than she would have liked, but at this point her emotions had had about all they could take.
’E better be okay, Angelique thought bitterly. All she wanted was to have to report to a professor or someone who she stumbled across this boy when no one else seemed willing enough to help. Just the thought of how everyone had watched her approach and done nothing themselves made her skin crawl. She wanted turn around and leave, but she knew she couldn’t. She might be a blunt bitch, but she wasn’t heartless. Something had made this boy cry out in pain and she was going to make sure he was alright even if it killed her. Eet just might.
