TAKE IT OFF NOW GIRL, CAUSE' I WANNA SEE INSIDEWould you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight? Well, Well what had he gotten himself into tonight? Scorpius had made a commitment to go to this dance, he wasn't quite sure where his emotions lay on the topic, but he knew they were mixed. Scorpius always was one to make an appearance but he really didn't have dates to these sort of things. The thought made him almost nervous as he stood in the boys dormitory with a towel wrapped around his waist. Scorpius had took a nice relaxing bath, he wasn't the type to ensure crowds but he did vow to be Detty's date. The Sadie Hawkins dance, a dance to show feminine rights and strength, or so it was said. Scorpius was sure it was hard for most girls to ask guys to these types of things, but he was still convinced Detty did a damn good job. Had he not been buzzed he may have not accepted. The thought of a frown on her lips, made him slightly saddened, but he had gotten himself into this mess so he'd just go with it. Dancing wasn't his thing, honestly he wasn't sure he was a good dancer. Detty had taught him a bit, but he'd look like a bloody moron, he was sure. Scorpius sighed, he guessed this was part of being a teenager. Taking proper risks to have fun, no matter the repercussions.
Scorpius started to get into his dress robes. He remembered the other day he had met his mother in Hogsmeade and she took him off to Diagon Alley to go shopping for this occasion. Astoria was thrilled Scorpius was actually going to the dance with Odette, but he didn't say anything about what happened. It would give his mother satisfaction in telling him, she planned his arrangement properly. Scorpius hated the idea he wa forced to be married, it had nothing to do with Detty. Just the fact he didn't have much say in the matter, if he didn't want his parents crossed with him. Scorpius always thrived for that freedom, and recent;y he had told his father off for being a racist. Scorpius didn't want to travel that road, but the treatment he got after may have been why his mood was so rocky. Deeper then that, he was angry, and he had a good week to think about it. Scorpius buttoned up his under shirt and did his tie. The boy looked over his appearance. Adding some gel to his hair and some last additions to fixing his dress robes he skimmed his appearance. Scorpius knew he was a handsome boy, but it didn't mean he was read for this. Scorpius went in his trunk and grabbed a bottle of rum, taking a sip. The butterflies in his stomach needed to fade, he couldn't be in a large good with this anxiety. Detty probably never expected this when asking him. She did however know he was crowed shy to an extent.
Scorpius took a couple sips of his drink, what if he screwed up? Would it effect Detty, would she be embarrassed of him? Why did he care so much. The two had shared a magical night, and he smirked at the thought. Scorpius hadn't really spent much time with her because he was dealing with home issues. He did however, send her an owl that indicated that, she'd know he'd never avoid her intentionally. Even understood his dismay. Scorpius looked around his empty dorm room, everyone had already departed for the dance, and here he was with anxiety on the verge of a panic attack. He closed his eyes taking in a few deep breaths. Scorpius could do this, he had those brown eyes to look forward to. He couldn't fail her, it would be like disappointing his team during a quidditch game. He couldn't bare that pressure on his conscious. Scorpius took another sip of his drink, and then filled his metal flask. Scorpius put the rest of the bottle away in his trunk. He'd need that later if his nerves were still on edge. Fixing his tux, and got to his feet walking into the common room. Naturally he turned heads, and he could hear the female chatter. Scorpius rolled his eyes and made his way out of the common room. He was late, and he knew this. Better late then never, he thought as he walked the stairs into the main entrance where he was suppose to meet Detty. Blue eyes locked on her beauty, as shoved a breath mint into his mouth and proceeded forward. "Wow, you look beautiful Detty. Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." Scorpius said sincere awaiting the night to advance. just another day started out like any other just another girl who took my breath away THEN SHE TURNED AROUND SHE TOOK ME DOWN - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
As Odette Flint stood before the mirror in her room, she couldn't help but blink at her appearance. Detty didn't usually dress up like this and she felt a bit too flashy and unlike herself. She liked wearing bright colors, but she didn't generally show so much skin. Her mother had met her in Hogsmeade only a week or so ago and helped her go through the racks at Gladrag's to find something that would suit the fifth year. When her mother learned that she was going with Scorpius, she had been more than pleased, but she hadn't told Detty why that was. The young Gryffindor could tell there was something her mother wasn't telling her, but the older witch kept her lips tight on the matter, which annoyed Detty. The Flints and the Malfoys have been good friends for a long time, that was how she had first met Scorpius, but she didn't understand why her mother should have been that pleased with the fact of who Detty's date was for the Sadie Hawkins dance.
Detty's dress was green, something that her mother thought would complement Scorpius very well since he was a Slytherin, a house they wished Detty herself had been sorted into; Detty only hoped that he liked it. her cheeks grew warm as she ran her hands over the sleek material of the dress, her mind wandering back to that night three weeks ago when they had shared an evening after a Quidditch match and, well, things got a bit out of hand. Not that she was complaining or anything, she had had a very wonderful time with him and had even had her first kiss, but she has barely seen him since and that worried her a bit. But then he sent her an owl explaining that he wasn't intentionally avoiding her, but that he had some home issues that had occupied most of his time in the past weeks and also that he would still meet her at the Sadie Hawkins dance. That had made her smile again and her anticipation for the night grow immensely.
Once she saw the time and realized that she was going to be late if she didn't hurry, Detty pulled on her matching green shoes and left her dormitory. As she made her way through her common room and down the stairs to where the dance was to be held, she got several stares and catcalls from those she passed, which only made her blush more. She wasn't used to this sort of attention, especially when she only cared for it from one person. When she entered the reception hall, she looked around for Scorpius, but didn't see him yet. She knew he wouldn't stand her up, even if she did know he didn't particularly like large crowds or dancing. He had promised her and she was sure he would keep that promise. Scorpius wasn't a man to go back on his word and she knew that. she stood near the entrance in a nervous state, her eyes moving to the door every time she saw someone walk in to see if it was him or not.
When he finally arrived, she couldn't help but smile. She felt herself grow warm as he walked over to her and she couldn't help but stare as she drank in his appearance. He looked good, though she was sure he knew that, and she felt like she was the luckiest girl in school right now. When he stopped in front of her, he complimented her dress and she blushed. "Thank you," she said softly, "you even more beautiful. Handsome. Sorry, I mean handsome," she stammered. "Oh, I've only been here about five minutes," she told him with a nod of her head, "but I'd have waited longer," she told him shyly, her blush worsening as she realized how that might have sounded to him. "Would you like to get some punch? Or dance?" she asked. "Or would you rather do something else? We could go for a walk," she suggested, though the idea of beign alone with him right now only caused her to have impure thoughts, thoughts she was sure she shouldn't be having right now.

TAKE IT OFF NOW GIRL, CAUSE' I WANNA SEE INSIDEWould you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight? Scorpius had mixed emotions about attending this dance, he really didn't like being around too many people. It wasn't like quidditch when all eyes were one him, and he was doing something he was good at. Yet all eyes would be on him, because he was Scorpius Malfoy and it was only proper to criticize his every move. Scorpius didn't always fancy being a Malfoy, it was rather hard to live up to the reputation he had set for himself. Scorp wasn't as much of a douche bag when he was with people one on one, but when in a crowd he gave the people what they wanted to see. A spoiled, pure blooded brat. Scorpius didn't mind it all too much, because he didn't care what people thought of him. If he was happy, who cared what motivated him. If others didn't want to take a risk and try to talk to the Malfoy boy, then so be it, it wasn't his loss. Scorpius was rather confident most of the time, he hand his comfort zones and he knew what he could handle. Dancing was a different story, the thought of someone telling him he was bad at something was a crash to his ego. All males were not the best of dancers, Scorpius guessed his mother was right, when she told him he would regret not taking ball room dancing as a young lad. Scorp really should have thought about investing some of his lonely childhood into the art of dancing.
Then again, when it all came down to it dances were just social events. Just cause it was titled a dance didn't mean he'd have to. Scorpius would hold out as long as he could, and when he did oblige and do so, he'd be doing it for Detty. He'd warn her though, he'd tell his date that she would dance like a fool to prevent anyone speaking of him. Scorpius could only imagine the new trends that could have been set tonight. Honestly when he watched those muggle dance videos on tv, he saw some things that just baffled him. Some times it was best not to question what was in and what was out. Scorp walked through the dungeon making his way to the entrance hall, he'd hoped Detty was already there. It would have eliminated the chances of some other female trying to win her way into his life. Scorp thought it was rather pathetic how girls tossed themselves at him at will. Where was their dignity? He'd never understand, but he guessed it wasn't his job to have to. When he finally made it to his destination his eyes locked on Detty. He drank in her beauty, enjoying the view of her green dress. It was rather short, but it wasn't a formal ball or anything like that. Alluring as she was, he had to keep his mind in a good place, he didn't want the night to start off with them running off together, and avoiding the dance. Detty was a prefect, and he'd make sure she had a good time before they split.
Watching her walk over to him, he casually placed his hands into his pockets and complimented her. At her words he batted his eye lashes only teasing. "You really think so?" Scorp chuckled, on her play of words. When she corrected herself he grinned charmingly. "Naturally I am." He stated confident about being handsome. Odette told him that she had only been waiting five minutes, and he nodded. At her next set of words he grinned, she'd wait for him longer. "Is that so? Good to know. I guess I was just procrastinating, I had a little drink to calm my nerves. I'm really not looking forward to this. If I make a fool of myself, you will be sitting up for the rest of the night helping me regrow my ego." Scorpius warned her. He was being playful, but there was an element of seriousness to his statement. The boy was getting nervous, he could feel his heart pounding. When she asked him what did he want to do, he licked his lips. His eyes roamed to the dim room, where he saw lights and heard music. "We can grab some punch, I'd like to get used to just being in that crowded room before I think about dancing." Scorpius stated. He was being honest, baby steps. At least he didn't show up intoxicated, but he did have a little nightcap if she wanted to share his flask with him. Scorpius took in a breath and took her hand, holding it lightly before entering the louder room.

When Odette had stumbled over her words when he had first arrived, she was sure that the rest of the night would be the same, full of blunders and mistakes. She really hoped it wasn't though, if only because she really wanted this night to go well. She adored Scorpius' company a great deal and she was hoping that tonight would be the beginning of so much more for them. She still had her mother's mysterious behavior knowing at her mind, but she didn't want to dwell on that right now. She wanted to have fun and she hoped he wanted to also. It would be a dull night otherwise. She was glad that he hadn't been cross by her calling him beautiful. She was sure he'd know what she meant even if she didn't correct herself, and she smiled when he agreed with what she said. "Good thing we're not modest," she teased. She knew he would have responded to that comment like that, but she's known Scorpius for a very long time now, since they were babies. He apologized for keeping her waiting if he had and she assured him that she had only been waiting about five minutes or so.
She had then told him that she would have waited longer and almost regretted it the moment those words left her lips. It was true, she would have waited longer than five minutes for him, but she also knew that was one thing you didn't tell someone else, especially the person that you liked. He didn't make too big of a deal out of it, though she stuck her tongue out playfully at him when he told her that tidbit of information was good to know. "Just try not to make it a habit, Scorpius, okay?" she joked. He told her that he had taken a drink before he came down to meet her, to calm his nerves, and she felt herself frowning slightly when he told her he wasn't looking forward to the dance and that he didn't want to make a fool of himself, and how she would be sitting up with him afterward \s to help boost his ego. "I can deal with that, though I am almost positive that you won't make a fool of yourself," she offered with a smile. "And, if you do, I'll be right there with you making a fool out of myself so you won't be alone," she added with a wink of her eye.
She had then asked him what he wanted to do first, offering up several options from getting a drink to skipping the dance completely and doing something else. She would rather stay, even if just for a short while, but also knew that he wasn't overly thrilled with the idea of being there and she would rather him be in good spirits than sullen and withdrawn from the night's activities. He told her that he would prefer to get a drink and just get used to being in such a crowded room first, which made her nod her head. "That's fine," she said with a smile as she began to head over to the drinks table with Scorpius beside her. "Maybe we can wait for a slow song to dance to, since we know you can do that well," she said, referring to that night in the dungeons when she tried teaching him how to dance. She then blushed as her thoughts moved beyond that to what transpired between them afterwards, when they ended up making out for a bit. The last thing she needed was to find herself flustered while at the dance with Scorpius. She was sure he'd already be on edge because of the large crowd, so she'd rather make this as harmless and easy going for him as possible

TAKE IT OFF NOW GIRL, CAUSE' I WANNA SEE INSIDEWould you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight? The fact that he agreed to go to this occasion was strictly for his date. Scorpius wasn't sure how he felt over all about doing to the dance with Detty. It was one of those things he just accepted. After much thought in the common room he figured it was time to go meet her. No one wanted to be stood up, that wouldn't be in his character to do such a thing to Detty. Scorpius was sure she'd be happy he actually showed up, she never seemed to think anything but good of him anyways. It made him happy to know someone confided in him in such a way. Scorpius had had females ask him to dances before, but he played off a shallow decline most of the time. It wasn't that he knew he was better then them, it was the fact that he wasn't comfortable. The formal setting, the music, the closeness. That wasn't in his comfort zone, he was a rather reserved person and he liked his space. These teen age dances were something his mother promised he'd want to remember. Those tender moments where he may actually feel something for someone else. Of course his father was set on his betrothed arrangement, but his mother was more lenient. If anything he knew she'd be happy if she got her hands on the information that he was going with Detty.
The events that had happened leading up to this dance, were stained in his mind. Scorpius hadn't ever let a girl that close to him. It wasn't really something he had planned it just happened. Naturally he knew his hormones would kick in someday, he just didn't expect it to be with Odette. Scorpius really liked her, that was the problem. He was scared that in those moments he would have ruined a perfectly good friendship, but he hadn't. She still was his best friend, and this was the reason he wouldn't fail her. If the girl he spent a night snogging, and fondling had been anyone else, he wouldn't be going to this ball. That was something he knew for a fact. After his blue eyes settled upon the beauty of his date he couldn't hide the smile that curved on either side of his lips. Scorpius was used to seeing Odette all dressed up, they did attend many pure blood, balls and parties with one another. But there was something different this time. She was dressed up to be his date. She was trying to follow up, toward his expectations and it was working. The way the light of the entrance hall hit those honey brown eyes of her, made it hard for him to breath. Scorpius was sure he was seeing her in a different light, and she wasn't the little girl he once knew. Naturally there would be some changes, but he never thought he'd be thinking this much on the topic. As a rather self centered individual, it was odd for him to be giving this much thought to someone else. It was nice though, and he didn't mind pushing his ego aside to capture the moment.
Scorpius was relieved that he hadn't made Detty wait too long. There was a certain playfulness that she brought around, that made him less tense. Scorpius smirked when she spoke of being modest. He couldn't necessarily help his ego at times, it just came out. A habit? He chuckled a bit "Well it's not every night I'm conforming to a teen age love fest alright? The drink was just part of the whole thing, I mean really who attends these functions completely sober?" He asked rhetorically. Scorpius saw the slight frown on her lips when he said he wasn't looking forward to the dance, shit. He didn't mean it like that. "Not that I wasn't looking forward to seeing you, I just don't like the anxiety these occasions bring. Surely you get that it has nothing to do with wanting to be around you." Scorpius stated, he couldn't imagine life without her essence and effect on him. "I'd be moody all the time if I didn't spend time with you, can't have that can we?" He asked his eyes settling upon the room. He took in her pep talk and smirked. "Well then if you do end up having to make a fool of yourself for my benefit make sure you're doing it worst then me." He said, taking her hand in his. Scorpius entered the dimmed room and walked through the groups of dancing teens. He felt himself a little anxious and every time he wanted to turn around, he'd squeeze her hand as his security. Knowing she was there with him helped a bit, and it relaxed his nerves.
As he lead her around the groups of children he locked eyes with the punch table. The destination was so close, but so out of reach. Scorpius fought the urge to yell at everyone in front of him, but he pulled Odette to his side, so she was beside him and not behind him anymore. He diverted his gaze toward her and licked his lips. "As a matter of fact, you owe me big time for this." He mused with a wink, he wasn't sure what he was getting at but he wouldn't mind some quiet time with her after this event, to just touch base on her feelings and concerns. They did have a special night, that had already been discussed. The two decided they were both alright with that actions that happened, but he also had some emotions that brought him a slight confusion. Scorpius walked over and grabbed two cups of punch, handing one to Detty. He liked this, there was more space over here for him to just observe. "A slow song you say? Well I guess I can manage a slow dance." He said give her a side ways glance. They both knew what happened the last time they slow danced, but he didn't mind the memory. Scorpius allowed himself to adjust to the setting, it was getting a bit easier now that he just took the risk and did it.
