The feeling of Ben's hand in her hair caused her to smile. If it had been anyone else she'd probably would have take off their finger, even if it was soothing in a way. Chloe always had a small thing for the boy, but she left it at that 'a small thing.' Chloe was far too wild to be locked down by a male, she didn't think most could keep up with her. Yet they were fun to fool around with. Chloe liked being a tease, she was flirty and had her occasional nights she couldn't remember but she was well aware she had self respect. Perhaps she just knew what she wanted or didn't trust others so easy with her emotions but that didn't make her a bad person nor did it mean she was a harlot in any type of way. She became flustered with her own thoughts and rubbed her arm absently. It wasn't good for her to think like this, maybe the pill was making her emotional. Over thinking wasn't her thing, Emma or Molly were those type of girls to have emotions and to think things through and now James? Chloe listened to the boy speak and looked at the dancing yellow flames in the fire place. What did James think about her? She had never really asked but since he was being all mature he must have had something on his mind.
She was snapped from her thoughts when Ben spoke. At least he did first, or she would have busted out with something sarcastic or sassy toward the boy's comment. He was acting quite different more like his younger brother when it came to being mature. Chloe liked to flirt with Albus and make him uncomfortable, she had spent half her life traveling to the Potter's home during the breaks to hang with her mate James since they lived in the same area. She knew him quite well as far as his tolerance for fun went. Albus was always the mature one and James was now thinking before being reckless? "James Potter since when did you become Alby-kins?" Chloe asked being set on her feet. She pulled away from Ben's grip and stood over James not having that towering effect she wanted to have due to her own height. Chloe took a swig of the liquor and glanced down at him. "Something on your mind? Because I could have swore you just became a stick in the mud and denied a party." Chloe asked quirking an eyebrow. Her hazel eyes softened and a whole bunch of thoughts crossed her mind. Chloe stomped her heel against the ground and grabbed the boy by his shirt. "Who are you and what have you done with James?!" She growled shaking him. The thought of someone brewing polyjuice potion to trick her dangled in her mind. She let go of his shirt and scowled at Ben's words. "Benny you don't get it, James wouldn't deny a party on any night as far as I'm concerned polyjuice potion is involved with this, cause something isn't right." Chloe snapped shooting James a glare. No she wasn't drunk but she got a little emotional at James treating her as if he were Emma. It was unlike him and it toyed with her thoughts.
The small girl walked over to Ben and hopped up wrapping her arms around his neck as he gave her a ride to the males dorm. She was placed on her feet and walked over to his bed plopping down. If James knew what was good for him he'd come explain to her what crawled up his ass and died. Killing his spirit and the person she knew and loved. Chloe took a sip of liquor and offered Ben the bottle. "Well come here and cuddle with me." She said her tone flustered. Hopefully, Ben wouldn't snap at her for being demanding, he was one to level her out when it came to understanding her ways. Chloe batted her eye lashes and a pout appeared on her bottom lip. "Plwease Benny." She added her tone innocent and baby like. When he came to her side she looked into his eyes. "Do you know what's wrong with James, has he been acting like this all day?" She asked cocking her head, she knew it was the holidays and the boy didn't have his father fir the first time in his life but something was weird. "Maybe he hasn't gotten laid recently, it could happen." Chloe said looking at the ceiling in wonderment.

coffee and cigarettes are my only escapei got my cup of joe, my pack of stokes Ethan was serious. Ben was his shoulder to cry on (metaphorically of course. They were bestfriends, not cuddle buddies.). And just like his two closest male friends played an important role in his life, so did his closest female friend. Chloe was his crazy voice of reason and she was probably why he didn't sitting around feeling sorry for himself. She prevented the Oh-my-dad-died-woe-is-me and Emma-won't-date-me-woe-is-me's from getting out of hand and out of proportion. Though frankly he didn't much feel like moving off the couch, she had a point. He was acting like Albus. And Albus was rather boring.
For a moment, James let them be. They had scurried off to, he could only assume, the boy's dormitories, and though he fully intended to follow them, he took a moment to recalibrate. Sitting on a couch in the common room with a fizzled out cigarette in his hand, he revelled in how Holden-Caufield the entire situation was. Why didn't somebody write about him? Somebody ought to write about him. The popular, handsome, clever boy with a famous/dead father, a kind-of-gay brother, and unrequited love for a girl who was sort of a bitch. Honestly, books have been written about worse things than his steadily failing life. Sometimes, James Potter liked to think that he could be just as successfully melancholic as Holden. Then again, James' sarcasm maybe wasn't quite up to scratch with the Catcher in the Rye.
James flicked the butt of his smoke into the fire and nonchalantly waved his wand to clear up the smell. Thank Merlin for magic because otherwise James reckoned he'd have far more detentions for smoking indoors. Even though he wasn't a hundred percent sure that "no smoking" was actually a written rule anywhere. Cigarettes were probably something they just don't think about in the world of magic.
By the time he'd gotten to the top of the stairs outside his dorm he was substantially less Albus-y. Sometimes Chloe said things that really reminded him that the funk he got into sometimes was rather ridiculous. Though he didn't wait in the door for long, he managed to catch the end of their conversation. Haven't gotten laid, indeed he thought to himself, and scoffed aloud. "I can have any bird I want, Macdonald. My promiscuity is not and never has been a problem." with that he cross the room and collapsed onto his own four poster bed. He had this urge to lie down, but he feared a sneak attack from the ever-energetic Chloe and therefore stayed sitting.
"Pass the firewhiskey, would ya, mate?" Ben looked pretty out of it. Drugs were a helluva thing.
For a comfortable bed, it sure as hell was hard to find a decent sitting position. Leaning against the headboard would mean that the curtains would cut off his line of sight and he'd no longer be able to directly involve himself in the conversation. Seeing as the only reason he'd left the couch in the common room was to be with his friends, he figured he didn't really want to abandon interacting with them. But damnit he wanted something to lean against, and eventually, after some shifting around, he decided on one of the wooden posts that kept the beds up. Though the sharp corner dug into his back and he wasn't particularly comfortable, he wasn't straining himself either, and frankly, that had been all he really wanted.
Watching Chloe and Ben, he laughed a little at how well the small brunette knew the boys dormitory, especially since, to his knowledge, she had never actually… ya know, slept with any of the Gryffindor seventh years. Then again, she and Ben had always been cozy. In all fairness, they were both cozy kind of people. They were the sort of people that wanted to cuddle, especially when drunk. James on the other hand, was a particular idiot when drunk. One of his finest detentions had come late in their sixth year when James, Chloe, and Ben had been enjoyed firewhiskey and James had thought that it would be a brilliant idea to fly his broomstick off the astronomy tower.
It wasn't a good idea, for the record.
A few hours later he was in the infirmary and Gryffindor had fifty points less than they had started the day with. It's okay though, no need to worry. They had mended both of James' broken arms and his leg fairly quickly. The pain subsided before long and another stupid idea to get him killed and/or expelled came along. That was sort of just how it had always worked. Sometimes Ethan was involved, though generally his whole prefect-ness kept him from mischief The number of points James, Ben, and Chloe had lost collectively was probably what had given Slytherin a chance at the house cup over the past few years. Honestly, their adventures were worth more than some stupid cup anyway.
Their adventures were worth more than some stupid girl. James reminded himself once again to keep Holden-Caufield out of his social life.
