"Stay in bed for a few more days, take the daily dose of this drink and you will be fine. I'll be here all night. If you need anything, let Orpheus know by waking him up and he will come get me." Charlotte smiled and put the liquid mixture on the nightstand next to the young wizard, who could only nod in response. A weird flu was going around that not only gave the same symptoms of a regular flu, but also made it impossible for anyone to talk. Orpheus, the golden retriever that belonged to Charlotte, laid next to the boy in the bed, keeping the boy company. The young wizard drank the green ill-tasting drink and then settled to sleep. Put a few herbs that will make him sleep for the rest of the day and walla. I may actually get some rest later tonight.
Once the young wizard was finally asleep, Charlotte was at her desk, opening one of her journals during her studies in Scotland. The mixture she gave him wouldn't cure him a hundred percent, however, it would at least give his voice back. That's what she hoped anyway. Reading her notes, she recalled a herb nearby her family's home. She hadn't seen it anywhere else, but maybe it could cure whatever the boy had. The healer laughed as she thought of ways to get to the house without her father ever knowing. I think I would rather be in front of my boggart than deal with my father. She hadn't heard anyone come into the hospital wing until she heard Orpheus whimper. "Shh, he's still asleep," Charlotte called from her desk, not looking up, "He will be for a few more hours."

[font=verdanaIt was getting late and Rosine knew she should be headed back to the Slytherin common rooms but she had a stop she needed to make before she turned in for the night. She'd long ago discovered that that was one of the biggest perks of being a prefect - curfews suddenly stopped applying and professors didn't think twice about seeing you wandering the halls after dark.
Rosine made her way toward the infirmary where she knew she would find her older sister, Charlotte. She wasn't ill and didn't require healing of any kind for a change, but she'd heard about the flu sweeping the school and was hoping Charlotte might be able to give her something to make sure she didn't catch it. She had no time to be sick, not to mention how ugly it made you look - gross. Finally arriving at the hospital wing, she pushed open the heavy wood doors and entered, letting them close softly behind her.
Why anyone would want to spend all their time around sick people Rosine would never understand, though she noticed as she looked around it looked fairly quiet at the moment. She saw a young boy in one bed, her sisters dog lying next to him which made her smile softly. Orpheus lifted his head as she took a few steps into the room and whimpered softly to which a voice responded telling her to be quiet because the boy was sleeping, "How nice for him" she answered teasingly as she made her way across the room to stand beside Charlotte's desk. "How are you Char?" she asked, leaning against the desk with a smile.[/blockquote]

Once Orpheus' whimpering seized, Charlotte's eyes never left her journal. It had been months after her husband and son's murder before she would open them back up, the reminder of her old home was well into each journal - flowers that grew around her old home in Scotland were sketched (not very well) into the journal. What surprised her was not the plant that she found could work with the plant by her father's home, but her sister's voice. The last time Charlotte checked, it was quite late in the night for the child was sent to her after dinner, a friend of his claiming food sickness (the way the kitchen elves made the food, there was absolutely no way for that to be true).
Charlotte stuck a spare piece of paper in her journal. "Late night as usual. I let the others leave so I could stay with him. What about you? Shouldn't you be in bed or studying? Graduation will come fast." The brunette's eyes left her journal and gazed up at her younger sister, a tiny smile appearing on her lips. "He might still be contagious, I wouldn't stay here too long, Rosine. I don't want you or anyone else to catch what he has." Charlotte did love the visits by her family, but at a late hour like this, something else must be on her sister's mind.

Rosine couldn't help but glance at the open pages of the book in front of Charlotte. It was fill of what looked to be rough drawings of different plants and surrounding them was all sorts of scribbles and Rosine took it to be all the different medical uses of th plant illustrated. Charlotte's voice interrupted her curious musings at the book and she nodded to indicate she'd heard her sister, "I know, I know Char - i'm 7th year now, time to stop mucking around blah blah blah. " Rosine said sarcastically, a slight frown marring her features. It was really getting on her nerves that particular speech, though she supposed she should have expected it from Charlotte. She was always going on about one thing or another in Rosine's life and if it had been anyone else Rosine would never have tolerated it, but it was her big sister and Rosine knew that it came from a place of love so she let it go.
Rosine's nose wrinkled in disgust toward the sick boy in the bed a few feet away as Charlotte pointed out he might still be contagious and made a mental note to give all her clothing a good once over with a scorgify spell when she got back to her dorm. "Ugh, disgusting" She muttered as she subconsciously moved further away. Rosine hated weakness, and she shook her head as a shudder ran through her slight frame at the thought of the illness in the room, "Yeah that's why i'm here," she said, turning her attention to her sister, "I definitely do not want to catch that she said, pointing disdainfully in the boys general direction, "You need to give me a potion or something to make sure i'm immune," she stated, a note of expectation in her voice.
Rosine's attention went back to the small book sitting on the desk as she looked again at the strange plant on the page before recognition hit, "That plant grows near home right?" she asked, pointing at the plant on the page, curious as to why a random weed that grew near their family home would be in Charlotte's little book.[/blockquote]

Charlotte was not one to share her research, it was hers after all. Even the other healers were never allowed to look into it. It was just as personal as a diary was to a teenage girl. So when she noticed her sister eying her research - maybe not intentionally, Charlotte glared at the brunette, covering the page with her hand. "You need to take things seriously, Rosine. I worry you may not be heading in the right direction. Your father won't hold your hand forever." She sighed heavily, eyes casting down to the worn out journal. Mentioning her father gave her horrible memories of the last time she saw that man.
Her brow raised in question at Rosine's disgusted expression. Since Charlotte took the job, she has seen much worst than a boy with a flu. This didn't compare to the injuries she saw after foolish duels outside of the dueling room. The healer laughed at Rosine's request. "I can't make you immune to it Rosine. I'm not that good. There's no potion in all of Merlin's cabinets to prevent that. It's new, I think it manifested from a Muggle flu that grew to have magical properties. Happens a lot when Muggle-borns or any students who live in the Muggle world come for the new term and happen to be sick." She was sure her sister zoned out in the middle of her speech, but she was used to that treatment from her.
Her hand retreated from the page, examining the plant further. "Uh, yeah it does. They're pretty exotic around here and nowhere near Scotland. It may cure what he has, actually." Charlotte smiled at her sister, "It may even make you immune." She was probably lying to her sister, but if she could get a hold of that plant, it could probably cure the boy.

[font=verdanaRosine couldn't help but roll her eyes as Charlotte glared at her, having caught her peering at the little book full of scribbles and sketches. Honestly, what did Charlotte thing she was going to do? Memorize the random scribbles and sell them to the highest bidder? There were a couple of issues with that that Rosine could see, 1 - that would require she actually understand the few words she had read, and 2 - she wouldn't do that to Charlotte. Rosine certainly wasn't a saint by any stretch, but it did hurt that her own sister distrusted her that much.
Her brown eyes popped up from that stupid little book at Charlottes warning. It wasn't so much the warning itself that caught Rosine's attention however, it was the way in which Char had said 'your father' as if he weren't her own father as well, "You don't know what you're talking about Char, I've got it all under control, don't worry about me. I learnt from your mistakes" she said snidely, regretting the words as soon as they'd left her mouth. That was a low blow to pull on her sister, "I'm sorry Char, I didn't mean that..." she said, remorse in her voice. It was just the way she was programmed - Char had hurt her feelings with her distrust (not that Rosine would ever admit that to anyone), and in return she hit her sister where she knew it would hurt.
Rosine scowled as Charlotte said she couldn't give her a vaccine or something for that ugly flu. As soon as she'd heard that she instantly had to fight the impulse to just storm out, after all, if Char couldn't give her something to make sure she didn't catch it she was tempting fate just by being there. She bit her bottom lip wondering how much longer she had to stay before she could leave without seeming overly rude, but zoned back in just in time to hear Charlotte say that the strange plant that grew near their parents house could in fact make her immune. At this point given that she'd allowed herself to come in contact with the germs by even coming here Rosine was more than happy to volunteer to collect it, "How much you need to make a vaccine for me?" she questioned urgently, mentally planning on how she could get there tonight without being caught, "and how much to cure whats his name over there too..." she added as an after thought, waving a manicured hand in the boys direction.[/blockquote]
