He was ready to burst. Lys hadn’t lay like this in forever. He wasn’t the type to just lie around in bed all day. There were things he could be doing so of course he was bursting with energy at the moment. Granted it wasn’t day time at all. It was the early hours of the morning and after forcing himself into a fitful sleep he had awoken an hour ago realizing what a utter waste of a night it had all been. He should have went out meandering about the castle again but he hadn’t and now it was only an hour or so until breakfast. A whole night wasted because of stupid sleep. Still breakfast was soon and he really really liked food so there was that. Lys liked to try and focus on the positive because what the ‘ell was the point of life if you didn’t enjoy it at all?
Still just laying in bed and not moving was hard. It was the only way he wouldn’t start pacing though or making noise and waking the whole house up. So Lys didn’t move a single muscle. His eyes fixed on the ceiling he couldn’t help but wonder just how often other people did this. If it was unbearable for them as it was for him. If they struggled with the simple act of just laying down in a bed. They didn’t Lysander knew they didn’t. It was the sad but unfortunate truth. This energy he had in him wasn’t normal. He didn’t know where it came from or how long he’d be able to keep on living his life like this but he didn’t really care. He just hoped it’d last longer than a few years. ‘Ell his entire life would be rather nice. Just a burst of energy even into old age.
Lysander couldn’t take it anymore though and sprung out of his bed like a bolt. He was already dressed. He always went to bed in whatever clothes he planned to wear the next day. Sure he might get sweaty or something when he slept but really what did it matter? As far as Lys was concerned a little sweat wasn’t bad and it’d dry. Plus even with that happening he’d be able to spring immediately into action and do whatever he wanted to as soon as he woke up. Granted he never really knew what he wanted to do when he woke up but that was very much beside the point. The point was that he was Lysander Scamander a man of action and adventure which meant that he needed to be able to be on the move constantly and ready to go at the drop of the hat.
Not like anyone else knew this or even for that matter called on him all that often for such things but that was beside the point. He knew it. “That’s all that matters.” Lys head jerked up when he realized that he had done it yet again. He needed to get out of this habit. Just spouting out things when people weren’t around. People were going to start thinking he was crazy. Crazier. They already thought he was crazy and Lys knew it. He took after his mother in certain aspects and he saw things that others didn’t just as she did. They had all called her crazy and looney but she wasn’t at all. His father had helped prove that on more than one occasion. Still people believed what they wanted to and they lived in their own little worlds. As long as they didn’t try to change him Lys didn’t care. Lys loved who he was and didn’t want to change.
People were too focused on other people when they had their own shit too work out. Lys just wasn’t one of those people. He liked people, he liked talking to them, socializing with them, and everything in between but in no way was he ever concerned about try to turn them into a better version of themselves. That was their job not his. Sighing Lys checked his face in the mirror stretching it this way and that before making his way down to the Common Room. The bags were always underneath his eyes. They never seemed to disappear but really what could he do about it? Nothing that was what. Smiling to himself Lysander realized he just didn’t care. Looks were nothing to him at least how he looked anyway. Who was he trying to impress?
Running his hand through his hair Lysander made a beeline from the Common Room straight to the Great Hall. Breakfast was starting literally any minute and quite frankly he couldn’t wake. He was starving. So it most certainly delighted him when he as soon as he saddled up to the table and the food appeared instantaneously. Lys was rarely on time for things but he never missed a meal. So that was why he immediately began shoveling food on to his place and rather ungracefully into his mouth. tagged!OPEN! lyrics PlayRadioPlay!, Decipher Reflections From Reality. notes Open to anyone! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Nathan yawned as he rose up from his bed. He looked at his clock on his bedside table and saw that he still had about an hour before breakfast was to be served. He never woke this early and usually was rushing down to the Great Hall just to grab something before he had to be in class. Nathan was much more of a night owl than a morning bird, but he wasn’t going to attempt to go back to sleep now. He knew that he’d just sleep through breakfast altogether and then probably be late for his first class of the day. With one more yawn, he threw his covers off his body and swung his feet over the side of his bed.
Nate rubbed his face furiously for a few moments before he finally stood up from his bed. Once he found his footing, he grabbed his towel that hung over the bottom corner of his four-poster bed and then picked up his bathroom things and began to make his way towards the bathroom to shower. As tired a he was, a shower would do him good right about now. He’d have to get down to the Great Hall soon too. He could definitely go for a cup of coffee and some pieces of bacon in his system. In his eyes, there was no better breakfast, unless his aunt was making either waffles or pancakes. Mmm, he could definitely go for some of those right now.
Once he was showered and dressed, Nathan grabbed his bag for his first few classes and made his way out of his dormitory and then his common room. He readjusted his bag strap over his shoulder as he made his way down the Grand staircase towards the Great Hall. There were not many people in the corridors as he made his way through the castle and Nate found that there were not many people out and about right now. Could his clock have been wrong? He surely hoped not because he wouldn’t be happy if he’d been overly early to breakfast and getting up this morning. Sleep was important to him and he loved to have as much of it as he could.
When Nate finally reached the bottom, he headed down the marble staircase to the Entrance Hall and into the Great Hall. He immediately looked around to see who else was present in the large room and saw a nearly no one. His eyes then landed on Lysander Scamander and he couldn’t help but grin at the badger before he headed on over to him. “Do you normally get here so early?” he asked as he plopped himself down next to the Hufflepuff. He really wanted to go out and have a smoke, which he made sure to bring with him, but he’d do so after he ate. It would suppress his hunger otherwise and he needed to eat.
Nate then sighed heavily and looked at the empty section of table in front of him. “I could really go for some coffee right about now,” he said right before a cup appeared right in front of him. “Lovely,” he said before sipping it. “I wish I had this sort of service at home,” he added with a smirk as he placed his cup back down on the table. “And maybe some bacon and toast,” he said before it appeared in front of him. “I’ve really got to tell my aunt to look into this,” he said before he took a piece of bacon and ate part of it. he loved bacon and was sure that his day would never be complete without it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As far as Lysander Newt Scamander was concerned stuffing one’s face was an art. It wasn’t something that you could just learn how to do overnight. No, no stuffing your face took years of practice and trained effort to pull off without accidently getting a chicken bone lodged in your throat or swallowing a piece of food that was just a bit too big. Lysander was a master at it. It was one of the many useless skills that he had cultivated over the years especially now that he was at Hogwarts. Here he had access to limitless amounts of food and no matter what he ate he always just kind of looked and stayed the same weight wise. Metabolisms were an odd thing and while he never seemed to gain a pound he knew that one day it would all rather unfortunately catch up with him. That was of course if he ever stopped moving long enough to let it do so.
It was with this reason that why when Nathan arrived at the table and beginning speaking to Lysander he found himself in a very rare conundrum. While he wanted to talk to his friend he couldn’t very well do so with a mouth full of food. This of course meant that Nathan was going to get more than just a foot in the door as Lysander couldn’t speak quite yet. Even worse was trying to play catch up on a conversation that someone was engaging him in especially when he really really really wanted to talk to somebody. His other options in this scenario though were woefully limited. He could either spit the food out or swallow it as quickly as he could. The former was a waste and he refused to do it but the latter could cause him to choke or even worse give him those odd pains in his chest when he swallowed too much. He wasn’t positive just what those pains were or meant but he knew didn’t like it.
So Lys proceeded to chew just as fast as he could manage while trying to wait patiently to speak. It was sad that not even someone who was such an expert at shoveling food into his mouth could bolt down a mouthful like this. Otherwise what was being an expert worth? Still the urge to speak was so bloody strong. Not that he couldn’t fight it. Sure he hadn’t managed to do so in the past but in this scenario Lys had far too much food in his mouth to allow the words to come out. He could talk if he needed to but the effect of it at best would be comical. It was in all those movies as some kind of gag but it was one of the few things Lys found repulsive or rather he found himself repulsed when he was doing it. Other people weren’t that much of a problem but watching himself chew was kind of impossible for him.
Finally Lys choked down what was left of the food even though he felt like it was taking a herculean effort on his part. Then again that was probably just him being overdramatic. Now beaming Lys didn’t even bother to check if he had something in his teeth because hell he had someone to talk to and really what could be better than that? Nothing, the answer was definitely nothing what so ever. “Oh I’m always here this early, I mean what’s the point in wasting the day you know? I don’t really sleep much and even if I did breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day so why wouldn’t I partake. I mean I’d have to be absolutely mad to miss my favorite meal of the day, wouldn’t I?” Lys sat nodding vigorously in agreement with everything he was saying like some kind of backup cronie in one of those films about good and evil. Except he wasn’t making some speech about how he was doing it all for the greater good, he was just talking about breakfast.
Lys watched the boy as he ordered but couldn’t help but disagree with him on his point about wanting a house elf, “It’s dangerous though actually having one around all the time. I mean having something to give you your slightest whim at any given time? You’re bound to get lazy or greedy. I mean it starts at breakfast but where does it really end!? The world!?” Lysander for a moment pondered the idea of a world that had been dominated by someone with enough house elves to do their bidding. Was it possible? No sooner had he thought this the words flew out of his month, “Do you think someone could do that? Take over the world with an army of house elves at their bidding? I should probably you know check up on that and see if it happened or SOMEONE SHOULD EVEN DO IT. Not that I want to see the world dominated by some evil force of course but it sure as ‘ell would be interesting, don’t you think?” Lysander didn’t know why his mind worked the way it did and brought him to this conclusion but he loved it even if others loathed it. tagged!NATHAN! lyrics PlayRadioPlay!, Decipher Reflections From Reality. notes Lys and the House Elf Conspiracy. word count 882

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Nathan was more than okay with the fact that Lysander hadn’t replied right away. He could easily see that the slightly younger badger had his mouth full and Nathan appreciated not wearing half of the food his mate was eating. Besides, Nate had only just received his own food, so he would only have been half listening to the answer Lys gave him since he’d have nothing but bacon and toast on his mind anyway; that and his coffee, of course. Nathan had only just managed to get one slice of bacon into his mouth when Lys finally spoke up.
Nate nearly choked on his bacon when Lys said that he was always early for breakfast, and that he didn’t believe in wasting his day. Nate didn’t think that sleeping in past this current hour was wasting one’s day as much as it was catching up on missed sleep. Perhaps that was the difference between him and his younger friend, or maybe even the fact that Lysander had yet to fully appreciate the life he could lead. He’s tried pointing it out to the kid a few times now, but he just never seems to get it. One day though, Nate will show him the light.
Nate also wasn’t sure he agreed with his thought on breakfast being his favorite meal of the day. While he’s heard that it is the most important meal of the day from his aunt more than once in his lifetime, he is more of a lunch and dinner kind of guy. He loved the greasiness of a burger or the tenderness of a piece of chicken. He loved meat, and he didn’t feel that breakfast encompassed enough of that. “Eh, I don’t know about it being my favorite meal, but my aunt always says it is the most important one,” he told his friend before taking a bit of his toast.
Nate cast a sideways glance at Lys when he started to talk about house elves and that it could be dangerous to have them wait on you all the time. Nate hadn’t meant that, only for mealtime purposes, but could see a very good point made in Lys’ words. “Oh, no, I didn’t mean-“ Nate started to say before Lys continued about someone using house elves to take over the world. Talk about a crazy theory, even though it could be possible, maybe. “Actually, now that you say it, it does sound possible, though I would think the Ministry would have some sort of way to limit that, or control it,” Nate said before he put another bite of toast into his mouth. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -so sorry about this one. i had to go out so i wanted to post this before i did <3
