THE STARS WILL BE YOUR NIGHTLIGHT and i will be your lullaby - - - - - - - - - - It had finally hit that time of the month where Harlequinn would spend a night with her female best friend. Harlequinn and Odette had been friends for quite some time, same age different years. The optimistic nature of the two, was just one of the highlights of her bi-weekly sleep over. Harlequinn tried to spend as much time with Odette as she could, even if they didn't spend a couple days together, she would appreciate all the catching up. The girls were roommates but Harley often went and laid with Kieran, because of her nightmares. Also she was mischievous and liked to wonder til all hours of the night. In reality she was sure if the two girls hung out constantly, they'd run out of things to talk about. Harlequinn was often working on perfecting her transformation, when she wasn't with friends. Only a sixth year, and she was close to having her animagus form down pat. It was something she forced herself to do so constantly, if she didn't or she screwed up, she'd have a big problem on the full moon. Following Kieran into the forest to keep an eye on him was risky, but only in her wolf form was she some what tolerated. Even then she kept her distance, blue eyes glistening in dark. Sighing she snapped herself from memories, and realized she was standing in the door frame to the kitchen.
Brownies, she needed to get the brownies and milk, and sneak past the prefects. It wasn't too long past curfew, but she dare not risk a detention. Harley had a sweet nature to her, one the house elves had grew to tolerate after time. Knowing she often lost track of time, and forgot about dinner, they knew the girl didn't always have supper. Therefore when asking for a small favor there were not many objections. Brownies, the smell of warm chocolate made her mouth water, she was thrilled to be waiting for them to be finished. Harley filled her magical thermos with cold milk, she had charmed it to keep it's contents close to frosty. Warm milk was something that didn't even sound right to her, even if it was said to put one to sleep. Harley much rather have a cup of tea or something along those lines. Scrunching her nose at the thought of warm milk her blue orbs captured the brownies being pulled out of the oven. After they were sliced into little squares and packed into a container she said her farewells to the house elves, and continued her journey to the towers.
After dodging a couple prefects she hit the grand staircase, and from then on she rushed up. Hitting the seventh floor she parted ways and finally hit the Gryffindor tower. The spiral staircase was dark, but she braved it head on. Fearless she giggled running up hitting the door. Harley spoke the password and entered walking right to the dormitory. "Detty! I didn't get caught this time, nope." Harlequinn confirmed walking over placing the snacks on her bed. Harley's sleeping area was a mess of finished paintings, a broken easel, brushes, and more tubes of paint then one could imagine. She was creative and even her sleeping area proved this to be accurate. She pulled out her pink plaid pajama shorts and a black tank top and got comfortable awaiting Odette on her bed. Her icy blue eyes glanced over to the clock, she was a little later then usual. "Come on Babes, we're behind schedule." She urged with a cheeky grin, petting the spot on her bed beside where she sat. The girls always gave each other cute nicknames, amongst other quirky things they did for one another. Like hair or make up, it was just the comfort between the two. Harley tossed her long dark hair into a messy bun, awaiting her girlfriend to partake in a girls night of fun.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Odette loved sleepovers. Really. They were awesome. She had one bi-weekly with her female best friend Harley and she always looked forward to them when they came up. Every time, they would switch who would sneak down to the kitchens to get the party favors and this time, it was Harley's turn. It was always easier for Detty though, since she was a prefect and all, but she didn’t want to always be the one to do it. She was afraid that she’d get caught taking advantage of her prefect duties and be dismissed of them, which she didn’t want to have happen. She still had a hope of being the Head girl when she became a seventh year, which gave her another year and a half to secure that position.
Detty had been in her dormitory getting ready for the night as she wondered if Harley was okay or if she had gotten caught. Detty always feared that when it was Harley’s turn to get the food for the sleepover, and for good reason since Harley has been caught before. Just as she had started to think that Harley had been gone a bit too long, the room to the dormitory opened and Harley walked in with the things she’d gone to get. Detty smiled when Harley told her that she didn’t get caught. “Good thing too because I’m not sure I’d have been able to come up with a good excuse to get you out of trouble this time,” she joked, remembering the last time Detty had to come up with a lie to get her out of trouble.
Detty turned her eyes away when Harley pulled out her pajamas and started to change. As close as the girls were, Detty never felt comfortable watching her older friend change. Detty wasn’t into girls like that and she always felt that watching them change was an invasion of privacy, even though they all had the same parts. Detty grinned widely at her friend when she told he to come on over and that they were behind schedule. “I’m coming,” Detty said as she moved over to Harley’s bed and climbed onto it. “So what did you get for us to snack on this time?” she asked, her eyes glittering with excitement. she really did enjoy these times spent with Harley.
“You know, we should invite more people to the next one,” she said. “Maybe the boys too. Have it down in the common room,” she said out of nowhere. “Too bad we couldn’t invite other houses too… maybe in the Room of Requirement we could though,” she said, now that she thought about it. That thought made Detty wonder if Scorpius would come if she asked him, which then made her cheeks start to grow warm as she thought about the idea of sleeping beside him and possibly even cuddling with him. “I wonder if we’d get into trouble for that,” she said, snapping herself out of that train of thought. She didn’t want to give away her crush; she’s kept it a secret this whole time so far and she wanted to keep it that way.

THE STARS WILL BE YOUR NIGHTLIGHT and i will be your lullaby - - - - - - - - - - There were these moments to look forward to in life. Those you could enjoy a night, with no stress, and nothing to worry about. It was these kind of nights she looked forward to because she didn't habe to think about boys if she didn't want to. She felt helpless sometimes around Kieran, with the way she couldn't change her view on him. She always be his best friend, and that be something she'd have to live with. She was suppose to be having fun, what was she doing dwelling on this again. Just like the other day at the lake, it was getting to her. Perhaps if she needed to talk Detty would understand. Detty did have a handsome male best friend as well, it could have been similar right? The only thing she was concerned about now however, was pigging out on brownies and enjoying the company of her female best friend. Odette didn't like girls, so she had nothing to worry about when it came to attractions in this friendship. When Odette mentioned she wasn't sure she could come up with an excuse to get Harley out of trouble she chuckled. "I think we have used every excuse in the book, need to start brainstorming ahead." Harley replied as she finished getting dressed.
When her friend joined her she looked to the container and grinned wide, grabbing it. She slowly opened the top and exposed the chocolate squares. "Double fudge brownies!" She squealed. Chocolate was also a girls best friend, she could indulge on the sweet treats all night. She had a bit of a hyper side when it came to having sweets. She just hoped Odette could keep up with her. In her heart she knew she could, they wouldn't be sleep over pals other wise. When Detty suggested inviting more people to the next sleep over she smiled charmingly. "Why does Detty have a specific boy in mind?" She asked bouncing up and down. Harley was a total tom boy around Kieran, she let this girly side out rarely, but she didn't mind it. It was part of who she was. When Detty spoke of the room of requirement, Harley had only heard stories of what went down in that room. The hook ups, and what not. She had never really used the room herself, but her friends spoke of interaction with others in there. "That would be epic! I mean then I wouldn't have to sneak snacks, the room would be set with them, maybe even bring some fire whiskey and make it a real party." Harlequinn added, she wasn't sure if Detty had a bit of a wild side, but it would be cute to see.
The two of them would be dancing all night long, drunk. What a sight. She'd have to invite Kieran too, because she wouldn't trust boys around her in that state. Concern? Harley smirked and shrugged. "What's life if you don't take a couple risks Detty, you may miss something if you follow all the rules." Harley explained. She was a bit rebellious and fiery at times. There was no point in life if you couldn't let loose and have some fun at times. Who cared the consequences, if everyone was having a good time. Then, you could always rule in the fact that they may get away with it all. It was always an option. Life was about choices and even if they did get caught then the worst that would happen would be detention. The room may have not showed up for a staff member anyways if she remembered correctly. Harley took a brownie and bit it. The savory taste practically melted onto her tongue, sweet pleasure turning her features soft and satisfied. "Oh these are so good!" She claimed purring at the taste as she ate a couple more. "So where were you the other night, I saw you stumbling a bit when you came in the dorm. You know I don't sleep!" Harley claimed trying to get information from her best friend. Girl talk time, she reminded herself. "Tell me, Odette Flint has a wild side, that I've never seen." Harley said her tone questioning, arching an eyebrow.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Odette giggled when Harley agreed that they have exhausted every excuse under the sun for getting Harley out of trouble. “Perhaps we can think of a few tonight,” Detty said, adding to the joke. They probably should, even though both girls probably had their minds on other things, or people, though neither girl would admit to the latter. While these two were such good friends, they didn’t often talk about boys. That was probably for the best though, since Detty wasn’t sure she’d be able to keep the secret of her long-time crush from Harley if she actually prodded her for the information. Detty wanted to hold onto that secret for as long as she possibly could, though she was also dying to tell Harley about it.
“Mmmmmm, I love chocolate,” Detty said as she picked up one of the double fudge brownies that Harley had brought up from the kitchens and took a big bite. So chocolaty. Detty loved it and could easily eat like ten more of these. Detty had suggested that they make this party bigger the next time around and even that they host it in a more neutral place, like the Room of Requirement, so that more people from other houses, even the boys, could attend. Detty was sure that it would make for one hell of a party, though Harley asking her if she had any certain boy in mind made Odette blush a brilliant shade of red. “What? No, of course not,” she said hurriedly, which she was sure Harley would pick up on as well.
Odette was glad that Harley moved from that idea to the other about the Room of Requirement and she smiled at her friend. “It would be pretty cool,” Detty echoed. “And, like I said before, we could invite people from other houses too, which would only make the whole thing more adventurous and interesting,” she said, trying to play it off like she didn’t have anyone from another house in mind to invite. “Oh, gods, Firewhiskey?” she asked, her mind returning to the other day when she was drinking with Scorpius, “I’m not sure that is a good idea. Bad things might happen,” she said. Detty remembered how she had almost ruined her evening with Scorpius because she’d said the wrong thing while drinking. She could only imagine what would happen if a bunch of kids got together and did the same thing.
When Detty commented on them possibly getting in trouble for that, Harley told her that one needed to take risks in life if they were ever going to enjoy it. Detty couldn’t help but smile widely at her friend. She was such a free spirit and that was one of the many reasons why Detty adored her. “Hey, I don’t always follow the rules,” she said, her mind returning to the other day when she and Scorpius were drinking in the dungeons. Harley then asked her where she had been the other night, and noted that Detty had returned a bit disoriented. Detty nearly choked on the bite of brownie she had just taken and flushed at Harley saying that Detty had a wild side she has yet to see. “Oh, that. Um, well, I was hanging out with Scorpius. We were celebrating his win over Ravenclaw this past weekend,” she said, not wanting to give too much information on that.

THE STARS WILL BE YOUR NIGHTLIGHT and i will be your lullaby - - - - - - - - - - Harlequinn wasn't the most experienced girl in the world, she had her wild nights where he liked to have snogging sessions, amongst the female population, and she had her adventure nights, where she didn't care about danger or trouble. She had always found herself in the middle, not a bad girl, but not totally innocent. She did get detention quite a few times in her years. Harley wasn't too worried about it, she had gotten used to it. It wasn't like she didn't use the time productively. Detention was her creative time, she'd often draw and feel inspired from the thrill of getting busted. The rush would always create a collaboration of colors in her mind. She guessed she was lucky to have a few prefect buddies. Harley's two best friends were Gryffindor prefects actually. She was sure she had used every excuse in the book, and some that may have been impossible to understand. Harley would use her sweet voice, and innocent eyes when it came down to professors though. She always could say she was sleep walking, but it was kind of hard when you were carrying a tray of fresh baked brownies. As she bit into one she savored the taste, chocolate was a girl's best friend at times. Detty and she, were certainly on the same page.
As the two spoke of the giant sleepover, she grinned. Detty was hiding something from her, and she hated suspense. The girl was speaking fast, and it just sounded like a cover up if Harley could call one. "If you say so Detty." Harlequinn mused with a wink. She nudged Detty a couple times, because she had been around the girl long enough to know when she was fibbing. Harley always thought Detty had a thing for Scorpius Malfoy, she could tell a crush when she saw one, much like her own on Kieran. The awkwardness of having a crush on someone you consider to be close, and the branches of denial that go along with it. It did sound interesting, but when Detty seemed unsure of the fire whiskey, Harlequinn narrowed her blue eyes, "Why do you know something, I don't know, about fire whiskey?" She asked raising an eyebrow. Harley didn't want to irritate her friend, or pry from her she just wondered why Odette wouldn't tell her in the first place. It didn't seem like her, but if it was that important and she wanted to keep it a secret. Who was Harley to make her uncomfortable by prying for details. That wasn't the type of person she was, as stubborn as she could be.
Fire whiskey made some people more venerable, and some mean. There could have been a number of actions that happened on such an occasion. Good or bad, it was all how you looked at it really. Harley knew Odette to follow most of the rules, she was a prefect after all, even if everyone had a slip up once in a while. Harley didn't object when she claimed she didn't follow the rules all the time. "A majority." She muttered eating her second brownie. She didn't need too many sweets, but the sugar had her mind on a rush, and she thought back to the other night when she stumbled in. Harley was worried about her, and kept an eye on her friend til she fell asleep. Listening to her breathing pattern, because Harley was just protective. She knew Detty was fine after a bit, but she never seen her intoxicated. When Odette said she had to celebrate with Scorpius Harley smirked, how did she already see that one coming? "Celebrating huh? Wild child, I hope you enjoyed yourself, what happened? Were you an emotional drunk?" Harley asked moving her stuff out the was as she laid down on her stomach, waiting for some kind of story.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -When Odette first mentioned inviting other houses, including boys, to their next sleepover, she hadn’t meant for the conversation to take such a turn. Detty wasn’t the most experienced girl and she certainly never pretended to be either. She’s only ever kissed one boy and it was only a week ago that she did. She hadn’t told Harley or anyone else about that night and she didn’t plan to yet. She got the chills just thinking about that night. She and Scorpius had yet to actually discuss what happened and what that would mean for them, and where that put them as far as their relationship. It seemed wrong to tell anyone else about it when she didn’t even know what to say about it. She didn’t want to mess anything up before it really got started, plus she knew Scorpius wasn’t really one to spill the intimate details of his private life.
When Harley asked her if she had anyone specific in mind when she suggested inviting other houses and boys to their next party, Detty tried to pass it off as if she hadn’t and that it was just a general idea. In a sense, it was, but she did have a specific Slytherin in mind when h said it, though she wasn’t sure telling Harley was a good idea, at least not yet. When Harley said ‘if you say so’ to her, Detty knew that her best friend hadn’t believed her little fib, but Detty hoped that Harley didn’t ask about it any further. As much as she really did want to tell her, she didn’t know what to tell her so she figured it would be better just to keep it to herself for now, at least until she could talk to Scorpius and figure it out with him.
When she mentioned bringing Firewhiskey along, Detty had voiced her opinion of how that could be a bad idea. It wasn’t because of what happened the night she was with Scorpius, though she did know firsthand that alcohol only made spilling the beans on the crush you’ve been harboring for a few years now, Detty was sure that putting a large group of teenagers together with alcohol would only lead to bad things. Detty would feel like total crap if something bad happened to anyone that was with them at the sleepover and either drank too much or did something they would regret in the morning. She wasn’t sure she’d be able to handle that responsibility. “Nothing really. I’ve only drank once in my life,” she told her best friend. That was the truth and she hoped Harley believed her. She didn’t want to say that she and Scorpius had gotten drink and made out together the other night.
“Is that a bad thing?” she asked after Harley told her that she followed a majority of the rules. “I am a prefect after all. If I didn’t follow the rules, then I’d be disgracing the title that was bestowed upon me at the start of this year,” she said to her friend, though not in a rude or mean sort of way. She sometimes felt that she had to follow the rules most of the time, if only because she didn’t want to make it seem like she was taking advantage of her position as a prefect. It wasn’t that Detty wanted to be uptight, or appear to be a stickler for the rules, but she didn’t want to be one of those kids who took advantage of her position simply because she could. She liked following the rules, though she liked having fun too.
When Harley asked where she had been the other night, the night after the Quidditch game, Detty told her she had been celebrating Scorpius’ win with him. Naturally, Harley told her she hoped she had a good time and Detty couldn’t help but give a somewhat goofy smile as she remembered, again, what happened that night. She felt her cheeks growing warm as she watched Harley get herself comfortable for this story. “Nothing too crazy, fi that’s what you’re asking,” she said with a smile, hoping that her cheeks weren’t growing a noticeable red. “We just hung out and talked. He shared a bottle of Firewhiskey with me,” she said to her friend. “And I don’t think I was an emotional drunk. I didn’t break down crying or anything, if that’s what you mean,” she told her, “though I did ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance,” she said with a slight smile.

THE STARS WILL BE YOUR NIGHTLIGHT and i will be your lullaby - - - - - - - - - - Harley could understand the effects of alcohol, and what it made some people do. She wasn't sure how Odette acted, because she didn't witness it. She wished she did, but she hadn't been privileged enough. Someday she'd have to get her hands on some wine or something they could go nuts on. Harlequinn had only really drank with Kieran. She never really felt safe without him by her side. Many things could happen when Harley was intoxicated, but normally she just got lovey. Not much of a difference from how she normally acted. Harlequinn would think a party with fire whiskey would have been fun but clearly Odette wasn't sure about the idea. When she spoke of her prefect title Harley zoned out, she didn't want to hear Detty being almost prissy with her chapter of authority. Harley enjoyed pranking the prefects, it was one of the things she found fun. As a free spirit she wasn't easily to abide by the rules. Rules and authority had their purpose but they were simply no fun. Harlequinn protested the thought, and she didn't answer Detty's question because she didn't see the need to. Detty had it all figured out.
Harley snapped back into reality he hear the story of Odette and Scorpius. She always thought the two were sort of close to be just friends. Harley wasn't one to judge she had the biggest crush on her best friend for a couple years now. Ever since puberty had sprung on her, Harley found herself attracted to Kieran. Scorpius Malfoy seemed like a complex person in Harley's eyes. The Slytherin quidditch captain was rather mysterious, but Harley didn't know much about him. She hadn't been friends with the boy, because he just didn't seemed to want to be bothered. Harley was glad Detty was good friends with him though, if Detty approved he couldn't have been that bad. And so she listened, but Odette didn't spilled any gossip or secrets. Harley hadn't blamed her, she never told about her crush so why would Detty share anything like that. She could see it in Detty's eyes, the mention of his name, and the just flicker of liveliness proved she liked the boy. Harlequinn wasn't daft she could put two and two together but she wouldn't state her opinion, just because she may have not understood it fully.
The thought of an arranged marriage made Harley uneasy she wondered why pure blooded families did that. If you followed an arrangement where was the room for love? When the girl told her she asked him to the dance she giggled. "Oh?" She said with a hint of question. That was cute, Harley didn't want to go to the dance because she had nothing to wear, or she would have asked Kieran to go as friends. "Did he say yes?" Harley asked, Detty needed to clarify so she could swoon. "I'm so excited for you! What are you going to wear?" Harley asked getting into her girly mode. She wasn't naturally giddy, but she was happy for her friend. It might have taken a lot for Detty to ask him, especially since Harley suspected feelings. "Do you have a dress?" Harley asked raising her eyebrow. If she she'd want to see, she loved the idea of balls, and dances. She just never really had anything to wear, so she wouldn't attend. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -With the way Harley was looking at her, Detty was sure there were unspoken thoughts running through the older girl's mind. Sometimes Detty wasn't sure she wanted to know what the older girl was thinking, but, right now, she was more than curious. However, sometimes, one didn't need to know because it would only embarrass them or make them uncomfortable. Detty was sure one of the things Harley was thinking was about her and Scorpius. Since the two have always Ben such good and close friends, she didn't doubt that some people often wondered if there was something more going on between them, or at least more feelings than just platonic ones. Detty could understand why that would be thought though, since it was common for male and female friends that were that close cross the friendship line at least once. And she and Scorpius have done that, and even admitting to wanting that for some time now. That, however, didn't mean Detty wanted to hear Harley tell her so.
As the girls talked more about the night she spent with Scorpius, before he brought her home that is, she could see the smile etching its way onto Harley's face. Harley had asked her if she had been an emotional drunk and Detty shook her head. She hadn't become emotional the way most people did, which is what she assumed Harley meant, but she did let some of her emotions loose. She had let her passion and love for Scorpius to come out that night, though she had not used the word love because she knew that would only cause them to take a couple of steps back. Detty wasn't a fool and she knew that admitting something as intense as that would have been wrong at the time, if only because it was their first encounter in such a way as well as the fact that they were both intoxicated. While he called it liquid courage, which is how half of that night even ended up happening, she didn't want to make such a claim while drunk for her first time.
When Odette told Harley that she had asked Scorpius to the Sadie Hawkins dace, Harley get very giddy and excited for Detty. "He did, yes," she said with a smile, though leaving out the mistake she made when she told him she'd ask him to save her from asking anyone else and to save him from having to deal with a stupid bloke. She had been only joking, but apparently her words came out more serious than she intended, though she had managed to blow that whole thing over. She was glad too because they would probably not be going to the dance still otherwise. "I don't know yet," Detty told her when Harley asked if she knew what she was going to wear, and if she had a dress yet. "And I don't have money for one, so I am going to owl my mother and have her meet me in Hogsmeade so we can shop for something," Detty told her. "You're welcome to come with us, if you want," she said. "Are you going to the dance with anyone?" Detty asked her.
