Like the Slytherin students and fans that were at the game, Odette was screaming and clapping loudly for the Slytherin team as they flew around above her head. Her own house wasn’t playing today, or she would be rooting for them; Ravenclaw was slotted to play Slytherin today so, without hesitation, Detty made sure to paint the number seven on both of her cheeks in paint that she charmed to change from green to silver every few seconds. She always did that to show her support for Scorpius. She and Scorpius have known each other for a long time, since before she came to Hogwarts. Their fathers were very good friends, and have been since they were both Slytherins at Hogwarts together. They were even Quidditch teammates for a year or two before her father finally managed to graduate. Odette always found it funny that her father had failed all of his exams in his seventh year and had to retake them all a second time. She never said it out loud though.
It was because of Scorpius that Detty was even into Quidditch. From spending a lot of time together in their youth, thanks in part to their parents and their shared ideals of blood purity, he taught her about the sport and how exciting it could be. Her father was a professional Quidditch player, but she never really got into it until Scorpius explained it all and gave it a fresh new perspective on the sport. With him, she didn’t feel like she had to like the sport, which took some of the pressure off. She watched as one of the Ravenclaw Chasers sped towards Scorpius and threw the Quaffle at one of the posts. She screamed with excitement as he managed to catch it before it went in. He threw the Quaffle to one of his own teammates and then the game began to head back the other way. She watched as the Ravenclaw Keeper, Frankie Greene, got himself ready for the throw, and she cheered wildly when he missed it barely. Slytherin was up by a few goals now, which meant that it all boiled down to the Seekers.
Only a moment later, the whistle blew and the Quidditch Master announced that Slytherin had won the game. Detty turned her head and saw Harley Goyle holding the small golden ball in her hand. Odette screamed and clapped as her eyes watched the players begin their descents to the ground so they could head into their respective locker rooms and change. Detty checked her watch and saw that there was still a few hours before dinner and decided to snag Scorpius for some fun before then. She could feel a blush creeping up on her face as she slowly made her way down from the stands. It wasn’t uncommon for the two of them to be seen together, and there was never anything between the two aside from friendship, but even Detty couldn’t help but sometimes get that strange feeling in the pit of her stomach whenever she thought about spending time alone with him. She was sure it wasn’t anything to think too deeply on, he was her friend, but she couldn’t help the blushing, even if she tried.
Her friends sometimes joked about there was more to their friendship than they let on. She always just rolled her eyes and told them that they were just friends, and that they were more like family. It was partially true, though she’d never let on that she really did have a crush on him. She was sure that would spell disaster for their friendship and she cared too much about him to throw it all away on a silly little crush. She waved goodbye to her friends as they parted ways after getting down from the stands and she made her way towards the Slytherin locker room to wait for Scorpius to come out. He was just exiting the locker room when she ran up to him and threw her arms around his neck. “Great game!” she said cheerfully as she pulled away, her smile wide on her face. “You were great” she said enthusiastically to him. “So we’re going to celebrate, yes? I’m claiming you until dinner, just so you know,” she said with a wide grin, her face still flashing with the number seven in green and silver.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. Big quidditch game today, Scorpius prepared himself mentally as he walked around his dorm half naked reading a letter from his father. It was interesting to him, his father was actually telling him good luck and what not. The boy hadn't really been seeing eye to eye with his father as of recently, so this was encouraging. It was nice to feel his father was proud of him. After putting his letter away he made his way out to the patch. Naturally he was the first one there, but not long after he was accompanied by the rest of his team. Genuinely he got his team prepared, making jokes on the Ravenclaw team. Scorpius would occasionally bicker with the team's captain and keeper and make it known Ravenclaws should keep to their studies. Although he hid behind a grin and a cocky attitude he knew all the quidditch teams were worthy competition. It was nice just to have his players going out with confidence. With the Commentator, Xander Zabini's, voice making their introduction Scorpius watched as the tent door opened and he mounted his broom his team flying into formation. Ravenclaw was soon introduced, and with tensions high both keepers took their posts at the hoops.
Scorpius focused himself as he looked at the crowd picking out his enthusiastic little Gryffindor cheer leader and he chuckled to himself. It was nice to know he had got her so involved in the sport long ago. After skimming over the crowd once more he focused on the chasers, and soon enough the bludgers let free, and the golden snitch was released. Keeping his blue eyes on the quaffle he watched as it was passed around and stolen, Slytherin taking it over and getting it into the hoop. Scorpius cheered as the game went on as he constantly blocked the quaffle when it came in his direction. The sun was high in the sky and he could feel the beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he watched a couple of the chasers coming toward him. The quaffle was tossed and he used the butt of his broom to knock it away. The crowed went wild, as he smirked to himself flying protectively as the quaffle was being tossed around. The sound of the whistle being blown and he looked over and clapped enthusiastically that the Slytherin seeker now held the golden snitch. After enjoying the applause he flew to the ground and shook the hand of the captain of Ravenclaw's team. There was no hostility amongst these two captains. Naturally there would be another game, and he would be ready to accept victory one again.
Making his way to the locker room he quickly toweled off. The team spoke with pride and Scorpius pulled Harley Goyle aside himself, to congratulate her. In his years he wouldn't have dreamed of being the seeker, he didn't have the attention span to follow something so tiny. He often questioned how his father had in the past, but Scorpius himself made a much better keeper. With fast reflexes and speed it would always remain his position. The boy changed his clothes, and grabbed a water bottle sipping it. Making his great exit to the normal world his blue gaze fell upon Odette. Soon enough her arms were wrapped around his neck and he put his arms around her tiny figure. "Like you expected anything less." Scorpius said confident as she spoke of his playing directly. The boy quickly cleared his throat avoiding eye contact with the number on her cheek. His cheeks started to heat up, and he sipped his water looking away for a moment regaining his mind. Of course he had a little crush on Odette, but he would never reveal it to her. All the years of their parents saying they would get married, just made him want to prove them wrong. Deep down he knew of his feelings, he didn't need people to express them for him. Odette announced he was claimed til dinner and he smiled nodding. "Sure, what did you have in mind, Detty?" The Slytherin boy asked quirking a brow as he capped his water bottle. In all honesty he enjoyed her company, how bubbly she was evened out his moody tendencies and he was often happy around her.

In the few moments that their bodies were pressed together for the hug she’d given him, she couldn’t help but feel that feeling in the pit of her stomach grow. The feeling of his arms wrapping around her waist only added to the feeling, but she managed to keep it well hidden from him before they parted. She congratulated him on the great game he played and couldn’t help but giggle when Scorpius told her that she wouldn’t have expected anything less than a great game from him. She playfully hit his arm in response to that, though she knew that he wouldn’t think she meant anything mean by it. “Well, it would definitely not be the Scorpius I know if you didn’t,” she said to him playfully, her smile never leaving her face.
“Did you hear me cheering for you?” she asked him, sure he hadn’t since there were so many other people cheering on his house team too. Her voice wasn’t that loud to begin with, even when she was screaming and cheering him on, so she would have been surprised if he actually had heard her specifically. She watched him as he sipped from his water bottle, curious if he’d noticed that she had his jersey number painted on her face, or that it was flashing green and silver. He’d have to be blind not to notice it, but she wasn’t sure she should call attention to it herself. That might come off weird to him and the last thing she wanted was for that to happen. It might hint to the crush she harbored for him and that was the last thing she wanted to happen.
For the longest time, their parents have talked about them being married. Neither of them ever thought twice about the idea, but that was because they only assumed that their parents were just saying that because they’ve known each other for so long and that their families were close friends. The reaction he always gave to it was a mere roll of his eyes and him telling his parents that they were crazy to think such things and to forget the idea of it. She was never sure if that was meant as a personal insult to her or not, but she didn’t ever mention it. She gave her parents a similar response, so she assumed it was the same for him that it was for her, minus the crush she really did have. She never wanted to give her parents the satisfaction that she did like him like that, though would never tell him so.
He then asked her what she had planned for them since she told him that she was claiming him for the next few hours and she blushed slightly. She hadn’t actually thought about what she wanted to do with him, just that she wanted to spend time with him. She felt her stomach flurrying about, as if there were butterflies in it, as she bit her lower lip and shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, to be honest,” she told him as she ran her fingers through her brown hair. “I hadn’t really thought about it. I just want to spend a bit of time with you is all,” she told him as she looked into his blue eyes. “even though dinner is in a few hours, maybe we could sneak into the kitchens and see if there is any chocolate,” she said, her eyes lighting up at the mere mention of chocolate.
She wasn’t sure if that would appeal to him, since it wasn’t anything spectacular or anything, but she sure as hell liked the idea. “Or maybe see if there are some bottles of butterbeer buried deep within the fridges that we could sneak,” she said excitedly. Again, she wasn’t sure how appealing that would be and the idea of him wanting to do something better than spend this time with her began to cross her mind and her smile began to slowly fade. “Unless you can think of something better,” she said, trying to keep her smile in place without making it seem like she was growing less excited about her not so brilliant idea. “Or we could go exploring somewhere. I am sure there are loads of places in the castle that we’ve yet to discover,” she said as her grin began to widen once more. The idea of being somewhere secret and private with him began to make her nervous.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. Odette's hugs were the only ones he actually allowed, most of the time. Scorpius wasn't a physical being, he was more laid back and liked his personal space. Naturally he would have those who he hadn't seen for some time, and he'd break his space rule for some physical interaction, however it was rare. His arms warped around her figure always made him nervous, but warm inside. Although he was very well aware they were only friends she did something to him. Scorpius was stubborn and didn't think he was capable of conjuring such feeling, but it was true. It had been true since they both hit puberty. The Slytherin boy was the type to spend his time with those who mattered. He never really did set aside times for dates, and all that personal attachment nonsense. Odette was the closest thing he had to any of that, therefore he allowed her to have such privileges as hugging him, and what not.
Breaking from the hug he felt himself more relaxed and his heart rate finally slowed down. His blue eyes glanced down at her when she spoke of highly of him. It was true Scorpius was always ready for a game of quidditch. It brought him a great sense of pleasure to preform in front of the school. Winning was something he enjoyed, the feeling the positive attention when he was in his limelight. It wouldn't be him to not give his all, therefore when Odette stated it wouldn't be him if Slytherin didn't win he nodded. Scorpius trained his players for long evenings. Potter took the morning shift on the patch, and Scorpius was the type to get the classes out of the way, so his team could focus on the sport. The game today was just proof he knew what he was doing. A smirk crossed his lips when she asked did he hear her cheering for him. "How could I not, you were the loudest one there." He teased chuckling. Detty was certainly a ball of energy at the games, well most of the time. "My number one fan wouldn't not have it any other way." He stated smiling, lightly shrugging his shoulders. He swore she made it know to him she was cheering when a game was in play.
So the rest of the day he was going to spend with Detty, it should be interesting he thought to himself. Rarely they had a dull moment. What was in store for them today? Just her company was enough to make him happy, and as concurred that she didn't have anything planned. Scorpius rolled his eyes and snickered to himself. "So you claim me without plans and thought for my precious time, your a brave one Detty." He mused listening to her speak of chocolate. "Give you a sugar rush? How crazy do you think I am?" Scorpius asked quirking one of his perfectly arched eyebrows. His straight expression soon faded into a smile. Butterbeer? Scorpius shook his head. "There is a small hidden nook in the dungeon, I have stole away a bottle of fire whiskey. I was saving it for a rainy day, but I could make an exception if your feeling brave, love." Scorpius mused with a wink. He wasn't sure if she drank but it would be hilarious to watch a drunk Odette Flint.
It seemed like a plan to him, and he took her hand and walked toward the castle. "Don't worry Detty, I'll protect you while intoxicated. We can be mischievous and go exploring after." Scorpius explained looking down at her hand that was still in his. Instantly he blushed and looked over at the trees on the grounds. Spring was near, the blossoms were proof. When he was sure he wasn't blushing anymore he looked over to meet her eyes. "Have you ever been drunk Detty? It must be a hell of a sight." Scorpius asked curious to know the answer. Normally the two would do most things together but he was a drinker on his own time, this would be the first time he would with her. Scorpius opened the door to the castle letting Odette enter before him, as a gentle man. Soon enough he feel into suit beside her again walking the long halls of the castle to the stairs that would lead them to the dungeon.

She could feel her cheeks flush a bit when he confirmed that he had not only heard her cheering for him, but that she was the loudest one in the stands doing so. “Oh, I’m sure that’s not true,” she said shyly as she nudged him with her elbow. “And I bet the girls that swoon over you would beg to differ about me being your number one fan,” she said playfully, though she felt this strange pang within her as she said that. She knew that other girls fancied Scorpius, but saying it out loud, or even thinking about that fact, often made Odette feel jealous, though she would never admit to such a thing. She had no right to be though, especially if he were to ever be interested in one of them. He wasn’t her boyfriend and she was sure that he only saw her as a sister figure so any chance of that was long gone, which was also why she has yet to ever admit her crush on him.
“I can be, yes,” she said with a proud smile when he joked about her being brave to claim him for some time without having a plan in mind. She couldn’t help but give him a mock surprised and hurt face when he joked about him being crazy for helping supply her with a sugar rush. “Hey, I’m not that bad,” she said as she playfully stuck her tongue out at him. “I just love chocolate, that’s all,” she said as she noticed his straight face starting to turn into a smile, “and you know that too,” she said as she nudged him again. Of course he knew that. Anyone that knew Odette knew that, though he’s known her for a very long time and her love for chocolate has only grown since they were kids. It wasn’t as if this was new news to him, though she knew that he was only joking around with her. Chocolate made her hyper, but a fun hyper, or so she thought.
She had then suggested them raid the kitchens for some butterbeer and that seemed to spark his attention. He told her of a nook in the dungeons where he had some Firewhiskey hidden away for a rainy day, though he would make an exception for her if she wanted some. In all honesty, she’s never drank before so she was both curious and unsure about trying some now. She was afraid to get sick, but more so because she would only embarrass herself in front of Scorpius and she wasn’t sure if she’d ever be able to look him in the eye again after doing so. “I don’t know about feeling brave, but I sure do feel adventurous,” she said with a smile. “Besides, we’re supposed to be celebrating your win, right?” she asked rhetorically. She felt a slight flutter in her stomach when he winked at her, but she was able to keep that from her facial expression. She didn’t want him to catch on to her crush, or start to think that there was something wrong with her.
He took her hand in his and started to lead her back to the castle and she couldn’t help but feel a warm current travel up her arm starting from where their hands were joined. She tried to keep her mind on the path ahead of them and not the fact that he was holding her hand. She knew she would start blushing and she’d hate for him to catch her. “Will you?” she asked when he told her that he’d protect her while she was drunk. “So you’d be my own knight in shining armor?” she asked jokingly as they got closer to the castle. She’s never seen him drunk before, since it was something that he usually did on his own so this would be a new experience for them both. “No, I haven’t,” she admitted as he opened the door for her and she walked through it. He was beside her again as they began to make their way down to the dungeons and she felt this overwhelming urge to grab his hand again, but she resisted.
“Promise m you won’t let me do anything embarrassing,” she said as she cast him a sideways glance. “and I will apologize now if I say or do anything out of character,” she added, trying to cover all of her bases now. She only hoped that she didn’t let out that she had a crush on him, and as had one on him for well over a year now. Merlin that would be more than embarrassing. She followed him to the nook that he spoke of and waited for him to get out the Firewhiskey that he said he had stashed away there. Was she ready to do this? She wasn’t so sure, but she wasn’t going to back out either. If nothing else, this would be a learning experience, though she only hoped it wouldn’t be a learning experience at the cost of her dignity. “And if we’re going to go exploring after, you may have to help me because I am sure that I’ll be stumbling and all over the place,” she said as she leaned against one of the walls.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. Odette's disbelief in his statement caused him to quirk an eyebrow as he examined the small girl. The color on her cheeks, always spoke to him, as he was sure when his resembled, they spoke to her. Though both never talked about it, it would just be awkward to bring up in conversation. Also immature to his knowledge. Scorpius wasn't going to venture into the mind of a female. Especially not one he cared about in a deeper sense. Rejection was something it seemed he was born into. Scorpius always seemed to lack friends due to his last name, and he wouldn't risk upsetting himself. Normally the things he did were well thought out, with a couple slip ups here and there but all that mattered was he was happy at the end of the day. The boy strives to make himself happy because depending on others to do so, seemed hopeless. Never the less pathetic, and needy in his mind. Scorpius wouldn't subject himself to suck fooleries.
"Who cares what females swoon over me, if I do not recognize them, then they are purposeless sobs, wishing upon a foolish dream." Scorpius hissed a harsh reality. He shoved his hands into his pants pockets, and looked around analyzing his thought process. The boy was sheltered most of his life, and when he was allowed to go to school and mingle amongst population, he was so cold, he didn't choose to see things right in front of him. Scorpius was a boy of many layers, he didn't just give out respect nor did he attention. Girls could flaunt over him all they wanted, but mean nothing. Fan girls, who just enjoyed the fact that he was good looking amongst others. Shallow statements and assumptions he chose to be blind to. "I'm sorry.. you just know I don't care about the posse of girls swooning over me or what have you. I saw you cheering, and that was enough to keep me satisfied." Scorpius stated looking down, moving a patch of loos grass around with his foot. "Though your very distracting with that number on your cheek." He teased now looking up to meet her gaze offering a smile.
Scorpius knew she loved sweets, chocolate especially. He crossed his arms over his chest and let her go on as he nodded. "I know you do, see this is why it is so easy to pick out what to get you on Valentines day." The Slytherin explained, knowing she'd think back to the large box he sent her. Often he would get her presents as she would him, it was one of those things the pair did. There was a craving for him but it was not sweets, more along the lines of alcohol as he anticipated the following hours. At her words he nodded, they were suppose to be celebrating, hence he started toward the castle. "You wouldn't be a Gryffindor if you were not brave." Scorpius stated toward he comment. In his mind to be adventurous you needed to be brave and accept consequences. Also it could have been on share impulse but he was sure she was a bit courageous even if he pushed her aside and was the dare devil of the two. Scorpius wouldn't allow Detty to get hurt under any circumstances, and if he did things first and found them to be alright, then he'd let her follow. What the girl did on her own time was not really his concern, as long as she felt safe with him, he was content.
When she asked about being her knight in shining armor he snickered to himself. "Have I not always been?" He countered looking over at her now confined in the walls of the castle. Scorpius didn't think she had ever been drunk but who knew with the girl was good friends with Harlequinn Nyx. The two may have had a couple nights, hence his reasoning for asking. Now he knew she hadn't drank, he'd just have to keep her close. Scorpius himself didn't drink often, he hated hang overs and what not, so when he drank it was more social then obsolete. "I can't promise you I won't let you do anything embarrassing in front of me, I am eager to see what you do, I wont hold you back from the experience." Scorpius said walking down the stairs into the dungeon. It got darker with each stair and when they hit the bottom he lead the way. "You can do anything you want with me Detty, I want you to be yourself. Have fun, let loose for once." Scorp replied shrugging. If she couldn't be herself around him, who could she be around?
Scorpius nodded at her last statement. "I won't object to carrying you home love, I am not the most graceful on my feet when intoxicated either." Scorpius admitted taking a sharp counter. He pulled his hand on one of the stones engraved into the wall and watched it sink in. Then he grabbed the bottle looking around making sure the coast was clear. After he watched the stone move back into place. "For now we can just go sit in one of the abandoned classrooms down here, I don't want to risk walking my the Caretaker or anything." He said lighting the way to the room he knew to be safe. He opened the door making sure no one was in there, before letting Detty enter. Soon enough the door was locked and he made his way to one of the tables, setting the bottle down. Scorp waited for Detty and when she was beside him he put his hands on her hips and boosted her up so she was sitting on the table. Next, he got up himself opening the bottle of caramel colored liquor. "To winning, and friendship." He toasted bringing the bottle to his lips taking a long drink, gagging slightly. The harsh burning traveled all the way down to his stomach before he cringed. He knew it wasn't classy not to have glasses but he didn't mind. He knew Detty could hang, as he slipped the bottle over to her now.

- - - - - - - - someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide - - - - - - - - IN A CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA IN THE SKY - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There were some occasions when Odette found herself unsure of the meaning behind a person’s words. They could seem so innocent and pure when there is really a darker meaning beneath them; it is also possible for one to say something that sounds cruel and mean when they are really saying something else altogether. Detty tries her hardest to interpret them all correctly, but sometimes they do escape her comprehension. In terms of Scorpius and their brief conversation about the number of girls that swoon over him and act like they are his number one fan, she wasn’t so sure she understood what he was saying, even though his words were clear. She had been joking when she told him that most of the girls that liked him wouldn’t allow her to be much of anything to him and he seemed to get angry with her.
Her brow furrowed at his words, which he seemed to notice because he apologized and explained what he meant. She smiled warmly when he told her that he didn’t care for them and that her cheering was enough for him. Her cheeks began to grow warm when he then mentioned the numbers she still had flashing on her cheeks. “Have to show my love somehow, right?” she said as evenly as possible. The last thing she wanted was for him to think that she was nervous or, worse, that there was more than just her words in that statement. She has managed to keep her crush on him a secret for this long and she would prefer to just keep it that way until he left Hogwarts. As much as she knew she’d miss him when he did go, she would feel a bit more ease about the crush she expected to have disappeared by now.
She couldn’t help but giggle when he told her that he was more than aware that she loved chocolate and knowing that made it very easy for him to get her a gift on Valentine's Day. “It really is the easiest gift idea for me,” she said with a warm smile. Her mind then went back to the large box of chocolates that he’d given her this past year and, even though she was sure there was no meaning behind the gift aside from the fact that they were really good friends, Detty couldn’t help but feel her cheeks warming slightly at the thought. The two always gave each other gifts on such holidays, even if they weren’t an actual couple; they often joked that they would always be one another’s valentine, even if and when they were both grown and married with their own families. It was their way of saying that they would always have each other.
Detty laughed when he teased her about being a Gryffindor and being brave. “Well, we don’t all have to be brave,” she said jokingly, even though that was one of the major traits of her sorted house, “though I always feel brave with you,” she added, even though her mind continued that sentence by silently adding ‘except when it comes to how I feel about you.’ She knew she couldn’t dare say that out loud and she had almost let it slip out, which would have more than likely put an end to the rest of the plans they were making for the evening. She loved spending time with Scorpius. It was one of her favorite things to do. she knew that she’d never be able to forgive herself for making him not want to be around her and, worse even, take to avoiding and ignoring her.
“That is true,” she said with a wide grin when he reminded her that he was always her knight in shining armor. “Well, at least when you’re around, you are,” she said as she playfully stuck out her tongue at him. That was an entirely true statement too. Ever since they were kids, back before Hogwarts, he’s always been there for her, just as she was always there for him. He was the one that helped her up when she fell and scraped her knee and he was always one of the first to stick up for her when someone was trying to mess with her in a not so playful sort of way. He did it before she joined him at Hogwarts and has done it a few times since as well. She tries to stick up for herself most of the time, but sometimes she needs that male presence.
Detty tried to hide her mixture of excitement and nervousness when Scorpius told her that he couldn’t promise that he wouldn’t let her do something embarrassing. She understood why he couldn’t, especially since alcohol, from what she knew of it, could make even the most respectable people act like total scoundrels, but her real fear on doing something embarrassing was that she would let slip the biggest secret that she kept. Even in a drunken state, she knew that she’d be mortified and would probably have to stumble her way out of the dungeons and back up to her tower in search of Harley so that she could cry on her shoulder and seek advice on the matter. She didn’t usually ask about relationship advice, though that is more so because Detty has never been in a relationship before. It would be hard to be in a relationship with someone when she couldn’t keep her thoughts off someone else.
She was glad it was darker in the dungeons as they headed towards where he had his stash of alcohol. He couldn’t see her blush when he told her that she could do anything she wanted with him and that he wanted her to be herself. She had visions of what she coulddo with him tonight, though she knew she’d never have the courage to do anything like that. Eve with the liquid courage she would be consuming soon enough, she knew that she’d never be able to make such a move with him. She’d be mortified beyond belief and she was sure that he would hate her for it. “then we can be stumbling fools together,” she said with a giggle when he told her that he’d happily help her home, though warning her that he wasn’t the most graceful of drunks either. This is going to be interesting, she thought to herself.
She watched him as he moved one of the engraved stones in the wall and pull out a bottle. She nodded when he told her they should go into an abandoned classroom to drink, since he didn’t want to risk them running into the caretaker. “Absolutely. I can only imagine what would happen to me as a prefect if I was caught drinking with a boy anywhere,” she said as she followed him into one of the nearby classrooms. She heard him lock the door behind them and then followed him towards the front of the room. She squeaked when he lifted her up by her hips and placed her on the desk and then watched him as he joined her and uncapped the bottle. She smiled at the toast he made and watched him sip from the bottle. She noticed the look on his face and then felt her mouth go dry as she reached for the bottle.
She then took a deep breath as she looked down at the bottle. She could smell the faint odor coming from the bottle and it was enough to make her gag, but she wasn’t going to back down now. She might not be able to drink too much tonight, but she was going to have at least some. “To friends and winning,” she said before bringing the bottle to her lips and taking a sip from it. She took a larger sip than she intended, but swallowed it all the same. She coughed a few times after she’d swallowed the liquid, making a rather strangled sound as she passed the bottle back to him. “Merlin, that stuff tastes awful,” she said as he took the bottle from her. “But i’ll have more when my next turn comes. I just have to get used to the taste, I guess, huh?” she asked him as she turned her head to look at him.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. It hadn't really mattered much to him how many girls there were in school, that crushed on him. Scorpius was always a hot headed, spoiled boy who disregarded the desires of others. Where he differed from his father was the simple fact he liked to earn the things he was proud of. Scorpius was the captain of the quidditch team, that was not given to him. He had a small list of close friends whom he earned their respect, and friendship from. Then there was his own feeling of self worth. Though he dressed to impress he wanted so much more then to be a typical Malfoy, with things being handed to you, where was your sense of accomplishment? Pride, how could you be a proud person if you didn't do things for yourself? Naturally he was popular due to his last name, but he never did once ask for the negative attention. Not to get it confused, he loved being the center of attention, but when it was only people disliking you for a name you were born with, it became quite hard to enjoy the thrills of popularity. On the other hand it was like being handed someone else's respect, the thought brought a cold feeling to his heart and he tried to forget what he was born into.
Odette's words caused him to smile and he nodded slightly. Love a four letter word that all of humanity abused. Scorpius understood the love she meant, the kind she displayed that was affectionate to and extent. Never did he ask for more, but she always gave him the full amount. Platonic to an extent, but always went the extra mile. Scorpius was sure she'd make a great girlfriend, one better then more then half the females in the school, could wish to be. "Of course you do." He stated, his smug expression turning into a smile. Her love was something he didn't take advantage of. This is why she could claim his time, because she proved to him she loved him, the kind of love that didn't need to be said or expressed, it was seen.
On the topics of gift she always led on to be a simple girl. One that noticed and appreciated ever thing she got. There was no asking for more, and the way she was raised wasn't the way she displayed gratitude. Chocolate was simple, it was something that just went to show you, all pure bloods were not spoiled, and standard. Scorpius only gave Odette gifts that symbolized his feelings. Although when he was a young lad his mother made him pick put fancy jewelery for her, and things that she wouldn't normally like, he tried to keep it simple. All the money in the world couldn't buy happiness, and if a piece of chocolate made her smile, then so be it he could look cheap.
It was times like these where he wondered why she wasn't in one of the more simple houses. She was brave but her nature always made him question the colors of her uniform. When she admitted she wasn't always brave he snickered to himself, her second words caused him to feel a rush of heat engulf his body. "Well your aware your safe with me, therefore you don't hold back from your potential." Scorpius said. If she didn't feel daring all the time it didn't make her any less of a person. If anything it showed she was smart. Scorpius himself liked his self loathing time therefore he did tend to walk his journey alone. If she needed him to feel brave then he'd be there, it was simple. The two walked into the castle, and he started to wonder what it was going to be like drinking with Detty. Stumbling fools together, he chuckled. "Well you only live once, so why not?" He added, if you lived without having fun what was the point of living. Creating proper memories was part of being a teenager and by no means was he a stranger to alcohol.
In the classroom the first sip was always the harshest. Scorpius didn't want to imagine getting Odette caught. He would be extra cautious to avoid staff members. Her prefect title was her very own accomplishment, he'd do his best to keep that safe. A he enjoyed the burning sensation he handed off the bottle. The girl seemed to hesitate and let her senses become aware of what she was about to do. "Could always hold your nose." He claimed and before he knew it she was choking down the first sip. At her reaction he felt his heart skip a beat, hoping she really wasn't choking, but the moment he saw her expression he laughed out loud. This was just great, she was going to be a light weight and it was going to be hilarious. Some people acted odd on alcohol, but he was sure she would be just fine.
"Awful is and understatement, it gets easier love." Scorpius said regretting his pet name of choice as he looked down into the bottle. He needed to be a bit aware of what he was saying, he did get a little flirty when alcohol was involved. "Getting used to it shouldn't be hard, it will numb your state buds and coat your throat making it all easier." Scorp explained taking another large drink, he slipped the bottle into her hands before swallowing. "I always like to occupy my mind elsewhere when drinking, it makes it easier to not dwell on the taste of the buzz you achieve." What topic came to mind first, a conversation starter to distract her mind. "What are the prefect's planning to do for this quarter's events?" He asked knowing she'd know all the details about anything having to do with the prefects. It was a starter.

“That is so true,” she said when he made the statement of ‘you only live once’. “I only hope that I make the most of it before my time is up,” she said with a grin. She was sure she would, and has done a good job so far in doing so. Granted, there was a great deal of things that she still needed to experience in her lifetime, just as there were things she wasn’t rushing to figure out either. There were some things she would love to experience before she got out of Hogwarts, but she wasn’t about to just recklessly do it just so she could say she has either.
Boys were the main one, though she was hesitant to experience that. She knew her inexperience would work against her, and also her major crush on Scorpius. He knew nothing of her crush, or at least she hoped he didn’t – he did a really good job of making it seem like he had no idea at all – because then she would be mortified by the whole thing. Besides, she sort of liked it being a secret, if only because it made it still possible to be his friend. She was sure he’d write her off if he ever found out how she really felt about him. She knew he wasn’t into that stuff and she would just become a clingy girl like the others.
Once they were in the dungeons, Detty found herself feeling a bit more nervous about being alone with Scorpius in such a way, especially if they were going to be drinking and her getting drunk for the first time. She had absolutely no idea how she would act while drunk, never having been as such before gave her no way of knowing what would happen. It scared her a bit, but she wasn’t about to chicken out now. She could only imagine how that would look and she wasn’t about to find out either. She was sure she’d be embarrassed until the end of time and she would hate to experience that when it came to Scorpius.
When her turn to take her first sip of alcohol came, she found it to be quite distasteful. She had coughed a few times after swallowing her first sip, but she wasn’t going to wimp out either. She smiled at him when he told her that it tasting awful was an understatement and that it would get easier the more she drank it. She was sure that was the case, though she couldn’t allow her mind to get past the fact that he called her love. He didn’t usually call her pet names and to use the word ‘love’ seemed to be a bit deep, even though she wasn’t complaining at all. She could feel her cheeks warming at the thought though, even if she was sure he hadn’t meant it like that.
He explained that getting used to the taste of it would be easy since it numbed one’s taste buds and that it coated the throat to make swallowing it even easier. She nodded as she watched him take another sip and then took the bottle from him when he placed it back into her hand. Her fingers brushed against his as she took the bottle, but she managed to hide her face with her hair so he wouldn’t see her cheeks reddening once more. She took another sip, this one much larger than the first one, and still found that it burned her throat, though not as badly as it did the first time around. It was definitely easier to drink it now, though she wasn’t sure if she would ever be fully used to it.
Her eyebrows rose when he then told her that he liked to occupy his thoughts with other things when he drank, to make the taste of the awful alcohol not bother him as much. She was about to ask what he had in mind when he asked her what the prefects were thinking of doing for the next school-wide event. “Oh, we’re going to have a Sadie Hawkins dance,” she said with a grin as she passed the bottle back to him. “It’s where the girls ask the boys,” she said, not sure if he knew what it meant or not. “Though it’s got to be nerve racking. To ask a boy to a dance,” she said. “what if he said no?” she asked rhetorically. “Would you go if someone asked you?” she asked him curiously, though trying not to show just how badly she wanted to know.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. Normally Scorpius was more thought out when it came to planning his way. This way there was nothing that could stop him from getting his desired level of happiness. This reckless behavior was new but he didn't mind because he was spending time with Odette. Through the years he had dealt with rumors floating around, and all kinds of things that made him shut down from being social. Scorpius spent a lot of times training his team, and studying. Scorpius was a man that put priorities ahead of fun, and he often wondered if he was missing something in life. There was parties he didn't attend, and there were relationships he didn't entertain the thought of. Having someone that understood him by his side couldn't have been a bad thing. Now a days he was keen on the thought of females only liking him for his looks, and his reputation. The bad one he didn't want to be recognized by. It was tough, but it was who he had become, and he changed it as much as possible. Overall he was tired of being fully alone, friends were great but there was no emotional connection, and he feared that he'd grow old and alone with no one to be by his side. Cold, and shut down from his emotions, growing old in the manor he'd inherit. Where was the life in that, even if he played professional quidditch, and accomplished all his personal goals, where was the joy if he couldn't spend it with anyone?
For a moment he wasn't sure why he was thinking so much on his future. Dwelling would only make him quiet, when he was suppose to be having fun. Odette drinking brought him a sense of humor, there were a couple wise comments he could crack, but he'd refrain from crudeness. In the end, at least Detty would come visit him when he was old and alone in the manor, he just hoped she didn't move on once he left school. She was in a grade lower then him but he knew he'd keep contact with her. Maybe someday he'd convince her she needed to move in with him. It was only a thought but it made him smile. Drinking was always a way to learn more about people, Scorpius knew for a fact other's showed a different side of character when they were intoxicated, and he'd only hope Detty wasn't an emotional drunk. In all his years he could handle her touching him, hugging him but crying? No he didn't think he could handle that. The thought was simply unappealing to him, because he didn't deal with his own emotions well, he was sure he wouldn't handle her's with proper care. A lot of girls also got liquid courage when it came to drinking, he wondered if she would be that type. Only time would tell what she was like, and he had the whole night to experience it. Inside he felt fully responsible for her, as he would act protective and make sure she didn't cause any trouble. A Slytherin and a Gryffindor drunk, what were the chances of them running into trouble? A million to one, but he'd brave it and take anything head on to fulfill his obligation. After all he was the one who suggested drinking.
After changing the subject he listened to her speak on a dance. "Another one? Merlin's beard. You know, there is nothing more direct, then a dance to show one they are a loner." Scorpius hissed taking a drink from the bottle. He didn't mind being alone, he just didn't see himself fit to attend dances with girls that were unworthy of his appearance. When she explained the type of dance it was, and the requirements he quirked and eyebrow taking another swig off the bottle before handing it back to her. When she spoke of it being nerve racking he snickered. Little Odette asking a boy to the dance would be funny, she was terribly shy, and he knew that from being so close to her. He wondered who she would ask, and he knew he'd be jealous of that bloke. It wasn't that he didn't think she couldn't ask a boy, it was more his belief toward, no one was worthy of dancing with her. She was too special to be someones one night Cinderella, she was more then that. So much more, Scorpius blushed at his thoughts looking away. Why did she do this to him, make him over think ever little detail? The girl was good. "I'm sure he wouldn't say no if someone as beautiful as you, asked him Detty. He'd be foolish, and then he'd have to deal with me for his stupidity." Scorpius stated with a smirk. He wondered if it was all prefects who had to attend that event. Scorpius knew they organized most of those events, so it must have been something along those lines. When she asked him would he attend he chewed the inside of his cheek in thought for a moment. The room was silent as he rambled through different scenarios in his head. "Depends who asked me. I mean I do attend some events, but I normally go alone, you know how I am." Scorpius replied ruffling his hair a bit. "It's not easy for me to just go with anyone, so it would definitely depend on what female asked to have the privileged of me accompanying her to the ball." Scorpius stated, arrogantly. He had standards for himself, he was born with them.

- - - - - - - - someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide - - - - - - - - IN A CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA IN THE SKY - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
As Odette continued to share the bottle of alcohol with Scorpius, she could feel it affecting her. She wasn’t exactly sure what it was supposed to make her feel like, but she was sure that it was making her feel something. She only hoped that whatever it was she was feeling didn’t make her do or say anything too damaging. She’d never be able to forgive herself, just as she was sure she’d never be able to forget the look on Scorpius’ face should anything happen to turn the tides of their friendship. Least she could say, so far, that he was right about one thing; the taste dulled with the more you drank.
When he asked her about the next events coming up with the school, she told him about the dance. As she told him what it was, she found herself wondering whether she should ask him to go with her or not. She didn’t want it to seem too forward, though the point was for the girls to ask the boys, and she didn’t want to make it seem too obvious that she wanted to go with him either. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place right now and she was sure that her nerves would only talk her out of it before her brain could tell her to go for it.
She laughed softly when he told her that dances were just another way to remind someone that they were alone and she found herself wondering if there was a double meaning to that statement. She wouldn’t dare ask though because she knew Scorpius didn’t do emotions well, and she didn’t want him getting angry because she asked about them. Only if he wanted to share would she oblige him and ask questions, and this did not seem the sort of subject he’d allow her to question further. “You’re far from the only one who gets that reminder,” she said, though not wishing to bring that conversation topic into the spotlight.
She had thankfully changed the subject by asking him if he’d go with someone if they asked him. She was partially asking for her own benefit, but she didn’t’ want to make it seem that way. She blushed a shade of red that matched her own house’s color when he told her that he wouldn’t say no if someone as beautiful as her asked him. She bit her lower lip as his compliments washed over her and she could feel her nerves getting worse as she tried to look past what he’d just said to her. She was sure he wasn’t meaning that he wanted her to ask him, though there was a small part of her mind and heart that was telling her to ask him anyway.
She nodded her head slowly as he told her that he generally went to those things alone and that it would strongly depend on who it was that asked him. “What if I asked you?” she asked him, though instantly regretting the words that slipped from her lips. She hadn’t meant to ask, but it had just come out so fast she couldn’t stop them. “As friends, of course,” she said quickly after, hoping she managed to catch herself before he thought too much on her words. “That would save me from having to ask anyone else, and you from having to deal with his stupidity,” she said, hoping that she was making this situation less awkward.
If she felt nervous before, that was nothing compared to how she felt now. Had she really just asked Scorpius to go with her to the Sadie Hawkins, dance? She wasn’t drunk, right? She didn’t thinks he was, though she did agree that she was feeling something from the alcohol. She wasn’t sure if he’d think it was just the alcohol making her ask him or not, but she surely hoped he didn’t think that. She’d be even more mortified than if he were to ever find out that she cared a great deal for him, so much more than she ever let on to anyone.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. There was nothing to deny, about the fact he was actually having fun with Odette. Spending this time surely beat pretending to be some one he wasn't in the common room. Scorpius was used to just owning his reputation, the good, bad and the ugly. Sometimes he could be cruel toward others, and appear to be a harsh spoiled brat, and others he was gentle all depending on who was watching. Although he didn't care if someday he'd lose his friends for being kind, he knew life you change after Hogwarts. Friends, would come and go and those who reminded true would always have a place in his heart. The girl he was drinking with right how confused him a great deal. Scorpius knew he liked Odette for years, pushing past his parents prying. No one needed to tell him how to feel for this one because she earned her own way into his heart. From a young age teaching her about quidditch, to some of the worst nights of his life. Those nights, where his father made him so upset with the way he treated other families. She was always there to listen, even hold him if he needed it. Therefore having some drinking time with her, wasn't as hard for him to accept. Scorpius was sure someday he'd be more interested in the opposite sex then himself. When the time was right, and he could focus and balance it all.
The alcohol had a small effect on him thus far. He could feel himself starting to become less tense, and more relaxed then anything. He wondered how she was feeling, and if she had a buzz worked up yet. Speaking of loneliness and the dance he pushed away the idea. Scorpius kept in mind he could have any girl he wanted if that were the case. His confidence was high when it came to it all. It was more along the lines of would the one girl he want go with him, and was he willing to lose everything he had built with her to start something new. Love was something he wasn't used to, and he was sure Detty had never dated anyone. She would have told him right? Scorpius took another sip off the bottle. It was only normally for other guys to like her, she was a sweet girl. Bubbly and affectionate, what was there not to like? The thought had him a little jealous, but he made sure to place the bottle in her hands before thinking more. As the topic changed and he was questioned about the dance, and if he would go if a girl asked him he was sure the girl needed to be special. It depended on the girl and he made that clear in his explanation. If only Mother and Father knew he was going with someone less then pure, it would be an issue. Scorpius narrowed his eyes at his thought, before her next words played over and over in his head causing his cheeks to turn color, and his mouth to get dry. So much for blunt confidence.
Scorpius thought on it for a moment and he smirked to himself. There was no way he could say no, but was that her way of asking. He listened to her next words and rolled his eyes. Of course, they'd have to go as friends, they were not dating or anything. Though going to a dance did imply a certain comfortable feeling. As she further explain he looked down for a moment. Those last couple words make it feel unreal and they stung somewhere. "Would you only ask me for that reason Detty? So I wouldn't have to deal with some idiot, for you?" Scorpius asked arching an eyebrow. In the back of his mind he tried to keep his cool, but normally he was quick to get frustrated. It was a blow to his ego to think she'd only ask him for that reason, but if it helped her he'd do it. Do it for her, not because he didn't want her to go alone, because he cared just so much to be there for her on such a night. "If you asked me just because you wanted someone to spend a good night with, I'd happily oblige, but this whole cover up story messes with my pride." He explained not coming off harsh. He knew it was her first time drinking, but he hoped she thought before she spoke to him. Perhaps it was just the drinking, and she didn't mean it at all. What a nightmare. He was sure he could be honest about his feelings with her, at least if she didn't like blunt, honesty she wouldn't be friends with him knowing it was one of his traits. Even hiding his crush he wouldn't have asked her like that. It was like a slap to the face she'd ask him like that. It sounded like it was going right at first, but a couple words too many made him feel lightly confused on where he mind set, and even more her common sense was.

- - - - - - - - someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide - - - - - - - - IN A CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA IN THE SKY - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If there was ever a way to make an awkward situation less awkward, Detty had not done it. She had no idea what she was doing, especially with alcohol running through her body, but this was just getting out of hand. She needed to do something, or not say anything at all, if she wanted to salvage this situation. Detty has never felt like an ass in her entire life, but right now she was feeling like the biggest one of all. She didn’t like this feeling, at all, and she was now wishing that she’d never opened her mouth at all.
He had asked her about the next get together that the prefects and school staff were putting together and she told him about the Sadie Hawkins dance. It was a marvelous idea, in theory, but now the thought of having to ask a boy to go to the dance was more terrifying than anything else. At least it was in Detty’s eyes. And here she was drinking with the person she wanted to go with, though the idea of asking him made her stomach do flip-flops. She was a Gryffindor for Merlin’s sake. She should be braver than this. And it was only Scorpius. She’s known him since they were in diapers. It shouldn’t be this hard.
That was the kicker though, it was that hard. She’s had a crush on Scorpius for a long time, and asking him to the dance would mean so much more to her than just going as friends. But she was sure that it would only be as such from his point of view and she felt that not asking at all would be better than throwing caution to the wind and being rejected. When she had asked if he’d go with someone who asked him, he told her it would depend on who was doing the asking. The alcohol within her then brought her to ask what he’d do if she was the one to ask him.
Her asking him was all hypothetical, of course, but only because she was too chicken to flat out ask him to go with her. She didn’t want him to read too much into it, though she was genuinely surprised that the alcohol she’d consumed hadn’t gotten her to ask him directly. But then she had joked around that he could save her from asking anyone else and having him get on their case about them being stupid. She had thought she was being humorous, but the look on Scorpius’ face told her differently. The look on his face told her he was unimpressed by what she said, and it made her feel so stupid.
“I-” she started, but stopped, taking a moment to think twice before saying something to further ruin this moment. Was he mad? She couldn’t really tell, though she was inclined to believe that he was. She hadn’t meant to make him mad, though replaying her own words over again, she could see why he would be. He spoke again, this time telling her that he’d have gone with her if she really wanted to go with him, but that her excuse about dealing with another stupid boy hurt his pride. “I’m sorry,” she said, looking down and blinking back the tears that were starting to sting her eyes.
She took a sip form the bottle that he’d handed her before, though she wasn’t sure why she had taken more of it. The alcohol she was consuming was clearly affecting her judgment right now, and making her say things she wouldn’t normally say. “I didn’t mean it like that,” she said, still afraid to look up at him. She felt her entire demeanor change now, as if someone literally flicked a switch on her. She’d just gone from happy to sad in the mere matter of minutes and she knew that it was all entirely her fault. She knew she had to do something to fix this. Damn this alcohol.
“I- I’d love to go to the dance with you. If you’d still be willing,” she said, slowly lifting her head to look at him. Her eyes were shining with the tears that threatened to fall, but she would not cry now. She wasn’t trying to use her wet eyes to guilt him into agreeing, or being less mad at her than he was, but she couldn’t help it either. She then took a deep breath before saying anything else. “Will you forgive me?” she asked him, looking at him with hopeful eyes, “and do me the honor of going to the dance with me?” she finished, her eyes not leaving his face as she waited for his answer.

AND AS WE LIE BENEATH THE STARS we. realize. how. small. we. are. Just another reason to add to the long list of why he didn't have feelings for others. Most of the time he didn't have time for girls. Scorpius surrounded himself with quidditch and studies occupied his life. Naturally he had a social life, but he didn't always feel like participating. Getting older, and hitting the age of sixteen he wondered if he'd start wanting to settle down, with someone. The way his father acted made him unsure he wanted to settle with a pureblood. His preference was all over the place, slightly just wanting the affection of someone who cared. It also peeved him to over think the whole romance topic, because he was so sheltered his whole life, he never experienced much of it. Of course girls would speak to him, til they were blue in the face. Yet at times he couldn't budge from his cold persona. Scorpius was baffled on the topic. School events and dances just reminded him there was more to life then being lonesome. Scorpius now sat there trying to puzzle together his over all thoughts on the topic, but no matter how he thought he couldn't break that loyalty to himself. He was sort of insulted even if not having a specific reason to be. He waited for Odette to come up with some sort of excuse for her words. He just wished she wouldn't say anything else to piss him off more. He was the passive aggressive type, and he was trying to be gentle with this situation, as he always with around her.
When a word finally passed her lips, he looked up giving her his full attention. Sorry, didn't really make his ego feel much better, but perhaps there was more to this whole thing. Scorpius knew it was hard for her to even remotely be sweet in a romantic sense toward him. He never really forced the issue of flirting much, because he was deep down unaware of how to. All his life he watched his mates around him do it, but never had quite the courage to step up and try it himself. This may have been because he did hold such high standards, but it was so hard to always be lonely. Sighing he ruffled his dirty blonde hair and took the bottle from her. The alcohol may have had her more emotional now, because if he couldn't tell better, he'd think she was about to burst out in tears. How sad, he wouldn't even know how to comfort her if that was the case. Had he not been upset he may have tried to hold her, but that was past the point. He let her finish her over all thoughts. She didn't mean it like that, and there he was losing faith in his crush. It wasn't always easy being him, his was often moody and the slightest thing that didn't go his way would cause a nasty reaction. Even if he wasn't yelling at her, feeling disappointed in her may have been worst. At least he didn't yell and he resorted to asking her questions about how she felt.
The Gryffindor's next words caused him he get chills slightly and he chewed the inside of his cheek thinking of that four letter word. Love, how complex of a topic, never the less, strong of an emotion to make him feel this way. At her asking him for forgiveness he took her tiny hand in his and looked into her eyes. "Yeah, I'll forgive you. Just don't make me feel like that again." Scorpius replied letting the emotional banner he tossed up down slightly. He couldn't stay mad at her because there was alcohol involved. She hadn't owned up to her mistake, but she did want to repent for it, therefore it was enough. After his current change of mood he wasn't sure if the dance idea would be a total disaster, but was he willing to take the risk for her? Scorpius nodded lightly looking down at her hand still in his, he couldn't help to smile as he ran his thumb over the top of her hand gently. "I'll still be your date for it Detty, you sure know how to give me a mood swing, if you were anyone else. I don't think you'd be leaving with your dignity." Scorpius mused smirking now. She had a hold on him, somewhere deep within his soul, and he wouldn't treat her wrong even if he was hurt at her first words.
Then it occurred to him he couldn't really dance, so he'd have to wing it. A flood of panic crossed his mind thinking of the last time he actually danced. It must have been a long time ago if he couldn't remember. "I can't dance." He stated blushing looking away. What if he made a fool of himself out there in front of everyone? Scorpius took another drink and passed her back the bottle. The slight feeling of intoxication finally breaking through his body. "Can you see it, it will be in next feast announcements if I screw up." He panicked a look of horror pressed on his face. "You got to teach me." Drunk dancing, he chuckled at the thought but if only Detty saw him making a fool of himself it may not hurt as bad. Or it could be totally worst.

She waited with baited breath as he thought over her words and made his decision about still going with her to the dance. If she could kick herself for what she’d said before, she would, but she knew that she couldn’t. She hadn’t meant to make it seem like she was only asking him to save her from asking anyone else, or so that he could get protective over her with any other guy. She had said that because she felt embarrassed for asking him and making it seem like a date. She never wanted her crush on him to surface, or at least not for him to find out about. She was sure that would end their friendship and the last thing she wanted was to ruin it all by letting him think she was just like all those other girls that fell over themselves at his feet, and she was far from that type of girl.
She smiled widely when he told her that he’d forgive her, momentarily forgetting that he was holding her hand. She was about to thank him when he spoke again. She bit her lower lip at hi words and nodded her head slowly at him. “I won’t,” she promised him, “at least not intentionally, since I’ve already just proved that I can say something wrong without meaning to,” she said softly. She wasn’t trying to drag it out at all, but she wanted to make a point of what had just happened and what she had said. She wanted him to believe that she hadn’t meant to say what she had, or in the way he had obviously taken it. He would be her first choice for every school dance. His thumb rubbed over her hand and she felt a chill run down her spine. She would have shuddered at it, but she didn’t want to anger him further.
He told her that he’d still be her date, which made her smile, but then she frowned when he told her that she knew how to give him a mood swing. “I really didn’t mean it,” she told him, looking up at him through her lashes, “and I will forever make it up to you if I have to,” she told him, hoping he could hear the sincerity in her voice. She laughed softly when he told her that she wouldn’t have her dignity if she had been anyone else. “Just one more reason why I am glad to be me,” she told him, flashing him a smile as she nudged him with her elbow. She then took the bottle from him and took another sip. “I should probably stop drinking, huh? Before I do or say anything else to get me in trouble,” she said. She could only imagine what else she might say or do if she kept drinking.
She raised her eyebrows at him when he told her that he couldn’t dance. She wouldn’t have expected that, but she didn’t think it was a bad thing either. She was all right, though not one of the best dancers out there. She’d teach him, if he wanted, or even make a fool of herself with him just so he wouldn’t feel left out that night. Either way, she was with him for better or for worse, even if that meant making a fool of herself to save his own ego and reputation. “Oh, I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of the girls in your fan club made a big deal about it,” she joked. He then told her that she had to teach him and she smiled widely and nodded her head. “Of course I will,” she said before she slid off the table and turned to face him. “What sort of dancing did you need help with?” she asked him, hoping it was slow dancing, though the thought of being that close to him made her blush.
