Well, bloody hell. What had Teddy just managed to do to himself!? This is exactly what happens when you mess around in the kitchen and attempt to cook up some mad creation. He should have honestly just left the kitchen duties up to the people that actually could cook. Teddy Lupin was not a cook and probably never would be. Yet, his adventurous mind somehow led him into the kitchens this fine Friday evening as he attempted to mix up a random feast of a meal. Not only was he an adventurer outside of Hogwarts and into new territories his taste buds liked to divulge themselves into new foods. He had heard about a nice salad that included those dreaded onions. Those onions that make your eyes water and they certainly did give that effect to dear old Teddy.
Unfortunately, for the bloke upon slicing up those onions he cut into his hand a little too deeply. And just his luck magic could not heal the cut to a perfect working condition. He had immediately wrapped his hand into his cloak and managed his way to the Hospital Wing, the blood oozing out and destroying his cloak already. The spell had worked a little but the wound was just too deep, and he knew if he didn't end up going to the Hospital Wing an infection would probably make its way into his hand. He was in a career track where having healthy, working hands was a very important requirement. Not only for grading papers, but also for solving many codes for Ancient Runes he was after all one of the best in the Wizarding Community. On the side of teaching, he often helped Aurors decode many messages, and sometimes like in the summer, it led him on some fun adventures.
Pacing himself down the hallways he quickly managed to walk into the Hospital Wing. There he saw that the healer working was a younger looking blonde-haired woman at least from the back she looked pretty young, "Excuse me," he breathed out but then his voice got caught as a thought occurred to him. The back of the girl looked exactly like...
Oh, bloody hell! Victorie Weasley. What in the bloody hell had Teddy been thinking!? He had heard she was going to be working at Hogwarts but he had yet to actually really see her with his own eyes. Now here he was standing in the Hospital Wing gawking at her like a little idiot would. His thoughts swirling around like mad wishing he would have taken a second thought before coming here. But his hand had been in such deep pain that at that moment that was all he was focused on. And, now here he stood not only dealing with the pain in his hand he was dealing with his ex-girlfriend.
The girl that undoubtly broke his heart into two.

Friday evening, Torie found herself in an empty hospital wing. It was strange to her how few students had came through with injuries today. Weather it had been spell damage, taking a bad potion, or simply breaking a bone, she had never seen the hospital wing so dead. Torie guessed she was lucky o have such an uneventful evening, but she couldn't deny she felt lonely. Victorie was used to being surrounded by attention, and people she needed to care for, so naturally when she had a night with no patients it made her antsy. She was beginning to think sometimes was wrong, or she had lost her mind going through changing a couple sets of bedding. At the last moment she had heard small foot steps and her eyes fell upon a young lad, complaining about not being able to sleep. The boy's parents were never there for him, and as an orphan he had a case of neglect and dreadful insomnia. Torie took it upon herself to fix him up a potion, and a cup of warm milk. How affectionate she was, made her often wonder if she'd ever become a mother, or someones wife. Torie sighed attending to her little regular patient. Now off to bed with you Oscar, don't want to be out past curfew. said Torie to the small boy, watching him scatter off.
The next step of her evening consisted of cleaning and preparing for the quidditch game tomorrow. As a healer she knew quidditch games brought in a majority of injuries, and she liked to be well prepared. Torie had set up her healing kit, and as she observed the contents of the box a voice caused her to stand up straight. That voice was one she knew too well, one she grew up around. Torie didn't want to turn to face him, she couldn't face Teddy. What was he doing here anyways? Torie thought she avoided him enough for him to get the hint she didn't want to break the ice, and talk about the break up. Victorie wasn't proud of how she treated Teddy Lupin at all, she loved him so much she had to let him go. She knew he couldn't understand back when she was a girl, so she got into a silly confrontation with him, instead of letting him fix things. The healer turned slowly to face her ex boyfriend, and he had been standing there gawking at her. Her blue eyes met his, and she felt a chill rush up her spine. Teddy... whispered Torie, her tone so soft, in disbelief. She couldn't help to stair at him for a moment, pushing her blonde hair behind her ears. Did he look handsome as ever, there was no doubt in her mind.
Snapping herself from a dream like state she saw the crimson color that stained his clock. This was no time to be in shock, she needed to fix this, the wound of course. Torie walked over to Teddy and gently tugged on his hand. The man was probably in as much shock as Torie was, but he'd have to let her help him. She was stubborn, and if he tried to intervene she'd talk him out of it. Torie lead him over to one of the beds and grabbed a cloth, applying pressure on his wound. What happened? asked Torie looking up, her clear blue eyes met with his. She stood bent over in front of him as he sat on the bed, a flush of pink surfaced on her cheeks. I'll have this healed in no time. promised Victorie, walking over grabbing her wand and a couple potion vials. She walked over to the sink and gathered a bin, filling it with warm, soapy water. Returning to his side she handed him one of the potions. To prevent infection. she gently took out the cork handing it to him. And a little something for pain. said Torie with a small wink of her eye. Victorie knew he'd begin to feel a bit better, but now she had to clean the wound before she could heal it properly. Her attentiveness was a great quality, she also was the one to help her younger family members when they were hurt. All this healing talk was making her nervous and she wanted to just see if she could latch on to a bit of reality. Not that she was positive he wanted to do the same. How have you been holding up Teddy? asked Vic trying to meet eyes with the man she once loved.

He felt frozen and unable to move. Her eyes locked with his and he felt his heart break all over again. His ex-girlfriend was standing there before him and just hearing her say his name broke his heart in two. The girl he had been in love with since before he even knew what love was. She left him without any real reasoning and it still haunted him to this day. Why had he not been good enough for her? What had he done wrong? Why did she leave him? It took the young man forever to get over her after she broke his heart and to be honest he still wasn't over her. Even though his heart was crushed just seeing her again, just hearing her again made those butterflies resurface and he nearly hated himself for this fact. She was the only girl Teddy Lupin ever really loved. Certainly, he had been on a few dates before her but he always came back to her. He always compared other girls to her because she was his dream girl. And, then, when he finally managed to capture her heart her heart was taken away just like that...with one snap of the fingers and she was gone. And, he was crushed. Heartbroken. Depressed.
Still to this day, he wasn't fully recovered because how could he be? She was in his life since the day she was born. She was part of his family and even when he only saw her as a tiny kid, she was still his friend. She was still someone he was very much close to out of all the Weasley's and he even taught her Qudditch. Over the years, growing up of course the girl had been someone he fell in love with even with their age difference. Surprisingly, their families really had not minded all that much because most of the family almost expected it. Her family was Teddy's family and most of her family did approve of the man. He had a good head on his shoulders, was smart, and he had thought he treated the girl right. Yet...he still knew he must have had done something wrong because she broke up with him. Some of the Weasley's told him it wasn't his fault that Victorie was just in a different spot then him right now, that she was young. Some told him it was for the best, and other's even put the blame on him. There were after all many different Weasley’s, Potter’s combined, and they all had their own view.
The moment her hand touched his there was those damn butterflies making him sick to his stomach. He hated how after they'd been broken up for quite some time she was still causing this effect on him. She could still make him nervous, and give him that little boy lovesick feeling. If he had been in the right mindset he would have ran out of their but he was too caught in the moment so his feet followed after her. Sitting on the bed he let her do her job staying rather silent just staring at her awkwardly for a few moments. Letting out a small wince he finally caught up to reality, "Just cut myself..." was all that escaped from his mouth, slowly standing up when he realized his surroundings he stopped looking at her. His eyes were looking everywhere but at her as he started making his way to the door.
"I uh..." ignoring her question, he started tripping his way to the door. "I can handle everything from here but thanks!" he stammered out ramming himself into the back of the wall a bit as items knocked down from behind him. "Dammit," his face flushed red, as he bent down quickly trying to pick up all the items. "I-I'm sorry..." smooth.

As Teddy stood there in front of her looking like a lost puppy, she couldn't help to notice the sad look in his eyes. Torie didn't think he knew how hard it was for her as well, she was also sure he blamed her. Victorie didn't want to leave him, and if she had told him to wait for her, til they were both graduated she didn't think he'd listen back then. It had been couple years without him. As strong as she had been, her life's mission was to avoid looking into his eyes. Avoid him at all cost, because she didn't want to feel awkward. Torie was too strong to cry, though she spent her whole summer of sixth year crying. Those nights alone, where she'd look up at the moon, knowing somewhere not too far he was doing the same, it hurt. As tough as she remained through time she grew a think layer of skin, and she wasn't so sensitive to the sight of him. Victorie mentally tried to prepare herself, so she didn't stumble on her words. She was far from the nervous type but she couldn't help the fluttering in the pit of her stomach.
There were many things she wanted to come out with, but she wasn't sure he'd listen. Things that were true, why she hurt him. Why she kept to herself, and avoid him. It was too hard to. Having such a large family and knowing Teddy was part of it, made things a bit more complicated. Torie was sure he asked around, finding any clues to the real reason for their break up. She was so sure there were many different answers, and not one really relevant to the true, cause Victorie didn't tell anyone. It wasn't their business, and she didn't even really speak much of it to her mother. It was her father that really didn't like the age difference between her and Ted, but even he wasn't happy to hear they were over. Their lovely daughter who one had a purpose in life, now seemed to have a numb feeling about her. Torie didn't really notice she had been acting that way, but everyone dealt with break ups in different ways. She shed her tears, and she couldn't be sad anymore. Torie had attended parties, and dated after Teddy, but she couldn't fully get over him. Her first love, the one she called her only one.
The thoughts made her sad as she tried to mend his wounds, she noticed her was acting a bit odd, and she cocked her head. Was he really getting up after she was kind to him? Torie crossed her arms over her chest, watching himself back him up into a medical station. Just stop. hissed Torie, walking over to the mess. She got down on her hands and knees and picked up the things that were scattered along the floor, trying to organize them. Torie was hurt he'd try to run away after what she just did, she just couldn't display it. The inner veela was now flustered and she looked up watching him try to help clean the mess. You're really going to walk away? asked Victorie looking up to him. Very mature Teddy. said Torie as she sighed putting all the things together. For the record you don't need to handle everything, you're trying to do my job. she corrected. She knew he was hurt but why did he have to make this so complicated. Then my family asks why I don't try to talk to you. Simply for this reason. We can't be grown up about it, just like we couldn't during our break up. muttered Torie in her frustration. When the items were gathered she walked over to one of the cots taking a seat and she put her face in her palms. You can runaway now Teddy. it was only a test to see if he would, she didn't know what she would do if he did leave.

He had felt like his whole world had crashed down around him when she sliced his heart into two. Teddy always felt like the girl before him was his world and at one point he thought he was going to marry the girl. She was his whole heart and he could never have pictured himself with anyone else. Teddy had always been very closed off from starting up relationships and getting close to people and it had a lot to do with his upbringing. Never really knowing his parents and losing them to the war always made him afraid of getting close to anyone. He understood his parents died for a grand cause but he never got to know them. It kind of made it difficult for him to get attached to anyone but Torie certainly wriggled her way into his heart and boy was the kid attached to her. She had been what he deemed the love of his life and when he lost her he felt as if he lost a little bit of himself. It seemed these past few years he was losing the people he was close to, and shared deep connections with very suddenly.
After she broke up with him, it was as if he really did lose her even if she was still around. They never talked and she avoided him as if he was the black plague. The only other person that he really shared a deep connection with had to be his Uncle Harry. His Uncle that had taken him in when he was just the age of eighteen years old and treated him as if he was his own. Certainly, Harry had helped with Teddy because he was still just a teenager but as Harry grew older, he really did become Teddy's father figure. Teddy had many people taking care of him and he was much loved but it was with Harry that he connected the most with. Harry adored his parents, and Harry had dealt with the loss of his parents as a baby as well and that was where their biggest emotional connection could be. The only difference was that Harry was dead that was how he lost him and Torie...she left him broken hearted she left him upon choice not upon death and that hurt more than anything else in this world.
Not that Teddy wished the girl to die in leaving him because that was not the case. By god, he was in love with her very deeply. And he rather have her alive and apart from him then dead but it still hurt that she left him...
The hurt expression on his face just from being in her presence changed as she spoke up. How could she sit there telling him he wasn't mature, sit there telling him to walk away!? She was a bloody hypocrite! Sure, it had been a couple of years since the breakup but Teddy Lupin was still very much in love with the blonde next to him. He was still not over her and just being this close to her was killing him inside. How could he stay and be standing next to the girl he was in love with, without breaking down into a pile of puddy on the ground? She was such a hypocrite because she had been the one that ran away from him and avoided him without any real reasoning. She broke his heart and left him lying in the dust without another word. Never told him why she just did it and expected it to go over just fine...as if nothing happened. The pain in his chest when that happened was not something he'd ever be able to forget.
"Runaway!? Me!?" he flabbergasted as he slowly got back to his feet, an intense look clouded his emotions. "You better take a second look and remember who ran away from who first." he belted out, it was now clear that the boy was not at all over what happened. That he couldn't just let the past stay in the past because even to this day the past still killed him. "You walked away from me, Victorie! I tried chasing you but you...you just kept walking. I was defeated. And now you have the nerve to stand in front of me and tell me to runaway.." getting that off the chest he shook his head at her, a small disgusted look etched onto his face.
His eyes narrowed to the ground as the anger slipped into the hurt expression, "I'd have done anything for you...and you left me in the dirt with no explanation..." pausing, "I loved you...and you broke my heart..."

Victorie was always a smart girl, she could deal with most situations but being her mother's daughter she learned a lot about love. Torie had a charm she never asked for, she never asked to be beautiful, and never asked to be part veela, amplifying her attractiveness. Torie didn't date much during her years, because she thought men were just attracted to her charm. She knew it was hard to resist, and she hated being alluring. It was like a trick, she couldn't tell what was real and what her charm created becoming very detached from the thought of dating. When she found of Teddy had feelings for her, it was mutual. She knew it wasn't her charm that set his feelings off. It soon blossomed into love, and she hadn't let a day pass without thinking of that contentment, and happiness. It hurt her to be without him in her life, but she admit why she left him. Not to him at least, it was hard for her to say.
Torie felt him backing away from her, the anger she felt inside made her snap at him. She didn't want Ted to runaway, she wanted him better. To attend to him, and treat his wound. It felt like she had been waiting for this moment for quite some time. For the moment where she could face him, and speak to him as a civilized women. Back when they broke up, she had been a girl. One who didn't know how to handle her emotions, and she ended things with him. Victorie never gave him a reason, she never could admit she didn't have an answer. This veela was stubborn, and she hated what she did to him. Torie didn't want to, she loved Teddy with all she was and to hurt him, broke her inside. Those blue eyes of his, showing any sign of tears or sorrow, crushed her own existence. After the break up it took her a lot to be strong, she avoided him at all cost. Teddy wasn't suppose to have knowledge of that, she just made it look like she was constantly busy. Torie didn't know how to explain, and when he spoke her heart did a back flip.
Who did Theodore Lupin think he was pinning this to her. Victorie listened to his words, as they stung her deeply. She ran away? Teddy thought that? She crossed her arms over her chest and listened to him continue antagonizing the situation. Torie didn't runaway she had a very good reason to leave him, well so she thought. She couldn't take this, she felt her blood start to boil as she got to her feet. You think I ran away? Victorie was about to spill her reasoning and she didn't even care. She couldn't take accusations, like she was some kind of heartless monster. I never ran away from you, I dumped you because it was the right thing to do. so she went on to explain looking away. She felt the tears sting the back of her eyes, but she didn't allow them to fall. Her stomach was in knots, with the thought, of the disgusted look he just gave her. As if she didn't suffer enough, as if everyone in her life didn't bring this up to hurt her. Victorie was far from a victim, but she couldn't take the blame.
If I told you why, you would have just found out a way to keep it going. I know you'd do anything for me Ted, I'm not daft. Torie said feeling the goosebumps raise on her fare skin. I couldn't tell you, because you wouldn't have wanted to hear it. You wouldn't have wanted to know, I couldn't date my Ancient Runes professor. she told him softly, looking over to him. Loved, the word was past tense and that hurt her more. If I told you I gave you up for your dreams would you believe me? She asked him not wanting to know his answer. If I told you I didn't want you to get fired for dating your student, would you have let me go? She asked felt herself getting emotional. The frosty girl never did like having to give reasons. I won't take blame for loving you, and wanting you to have everything you wanted in life. Everything you worked so hard for... She trailed off. If Teddy was so in love with her, why did he let her go. Why did he let her hide from him for summers? There was no logical reason not to fight for her. You let me go, you tried to keep me, but you let me run away. So, don't antagonize me when you're just as wrong Theodore Lupin! She snapped stubborn, letting her blonde curls topple into her face.

Through dating the woman in front of him, he always found himself to be one of the luckiest men alive. Her being a veela meant many other men fawned over her. Yet, Teddy he knew his feelings were more real than any of those other pigs that laid their eyes on her. It was never just a pretty face and her flawless body that made Teddy want to be with her. It really had been her everything. Growing up even the age where he found girls to be icky Victorie seemed to be Teddy's one okay girl with him. She certainly was an attractive person to look at but her personality was what stood out to Teddy. He figured being raised with her helped to semi take out her veela charm away from him. While other's spoke to him of how lucky he was because she was just so damn beautiful he'd smile, nod his head and say 'that and she warms my heart with every word she speaks to me' of course, it often made him get unusual looks but it had been the truth. He loved everything about her and he knew his heart always would. If she were to suddenly get wrinkly, and become bald unfortunately his heart would still hold a place for her.
Teddy never has been one to fall in love easily and truth be told she had been the only girl he really ever loved. To this day, he was still very much in love with her. He always lived by a small rule of if you really love someone it never leaves. Loving her was inevitable and he was doomed to love her until the day he died even in the midst of her breaking his heart in half. Certainly, he hoped one day he'd be able to move on from her and love another. He just had a feeling even while with someone else the blonde would still trigger his emotions every so often. It had been quite some time since he last saw her and even now, she still made those butterflies flap their wings frantically in the gut of his stomach.
His eyes narrowed right back up at her as words escaped her lips. Had he even been hearing her right? How could she go around and turn this right back on him? It was ridiculous for her to tell him he should have chased her. "How long, huh? How long should I have ran after you Torie?" what had been the right set of time? He tried talking to her and she closed him out and avoided him leaving him to dwell in the darkness of his room. She dropped his class and avoided parties for the families that he eventually himself dropped too. She was really part of the family after all and eventually he felt as if maybe it should be him that no longer arrived. "You weren't taking my class anymore. You no longer showed up with your family to parties...do you have any idea how that felt? I was miserable when you weren't there. It's not like it was even my family...I felt that many of your cousins rather have you their...real blood. Not Teddy Lupin, not the adopted child. Sure, some insisted I be there but you sit here and tell me I can't be mature now? Now? I tried...you were the one immature..." rolling his eyes mainly to keep the hurt from showing in his face. It really had been no use though just the words he spoke were clear he'd been very hurt by her.
Then as reality hit him and why she did what she did his face sunk. He understood but still to this day, it did not matter to him. Still to this day, he would have wanted to be with her rather than a job. "Jobs they come and go, Torie. You know I also help out the Minsitry...I had a fall back...but you. There’s only one of you...I had no other fall backs when it came to you..." he breathed out gently, his expression softening ever so slightly. "We could have made it work even while me being here...I would have made it work..." pausing, "I know I could have..."
He wasn't certain if he could have because that was all in the past but he would have given it his all for the girl he loved.

It was really hard for her to know, Teddy didn't think she tried. Victorie had gave her love to him, and took it away because she felt it was the right thing to do. If the circumstances were different, just maybe things would be different. She'd always love him, he owned a piece of her heart unseen to the rest of the world. Torie was a spoiled brat, but she never showed him her bad sides, always wanted to be perfect for him. She did with little effort, just being herself. The thought of Theodore Lupin with another girl got her upset, she could spend hours convincing herself it was wrong. Teddy loved her, but he wouldn't want her back. All she could ask for was some kind of clarity. It was confusing and it hurt just watching him speak to her, pointing fingers. Torie didn't handle it the best way, she didn't think about how many people it would have hurt, but no one saw how much she was broken because she hid it well.
The nights she'd spend with Teddy, just watching the stars and just talking about their futures, as if they even knew back then. Teddy was older, and she was in love. It was a young love, something that could have been greater if things were different. Torie explained he should have chased her, should have held on. Vic wasn't even sure where she was going with that accusation, but he helped. Teddy called her Torie, a name she hadn't heard from his lips in a long while. She felt herself shut down, she could tell the tension was thick, and she prayed for an escape. A door, someone entering the scene so she could just walk away. The emotions were hard to deal with, but she loved him so much. She couldn't look at him trying to explain, then walk away. Ted may have been right, she was one to runaway from her feelings, but not when it came to the break up. Only when she was wrong. In her heart she couldn't see breaking up as wrong back then, she knew it was right. Teddy was a Lupin weather he saw it or not. Ancient runes was in his future, and even if he spoke of the ministry that wouldn't have been where he wanted to be.
All her emotions were on fire, her moody shot and she really didn't know how to respond to his last comment. What he said proved her theory correct. The two could have made it work, she knew he;d say that. Teddy, it wasn't meant to work back then. I was young, naive even. Maybe I didn't pick the best choice, but I wanted so much for you. For once in my life, I wasn't being a spoiled prat, I cared for the man I loved. said Torie, all she wanted was to be understood. he girl had cared, and she has still been wrong. She didn't think stubborn Lupin would get it, but she tried. I may have not been replaceable, and I love that adopted boy. I don't care what my family thinks, they were never there like you were... Victorie ran away from her family too, always the rebel at heart. She hated connections because they were weak, deep down she wasn't too strong herself.
What do you want me to say? It'll get better and we can start over...Ted you know it's not that easy. Your eyes show, it's not easy. I'm sorry I hurt you, but I hurt too. said Torie, allowing tears to flow down her soft cheeks. She turned to him instantly after that. Miss Weasley felt weak, she felt a break in herself and she wasn't sure out to mend. Not all the magic in the world could heal that confession. I just hope someday you'll forgive me and see what I thought I did what was best, weather it was right or not...I don't know...

"I guess that means we'd never have worked."
He softly spoke. He was referring to the now as well. If she couldn't have made it work with him back then what makes anyone think it'd work now? Back then, people already rather assumed that the two were an item. Professors and students alike but nobody spoke a word. Nobody seemed to care as long as the two were happy. They had been together before he even got the job at Hogwarts and it wasn't like it was a huge secret they were together. Their friends and family knew and did the school really expect him to just break it off with her because of the job? He understood her not taking his class but in Teddy's mind, it could have still worked. He didn't care if she wanted to sneak around or not he would have. He didn't care if she had wanted to wait until she graduated...he would have waited. He would have done anything.
"We could have waited until you graduated. You could have talked to me. I would have waited a thousand years for you, Victorie." it was honest. The boy had been madly in love with her. "It just seems like I was the only one in the relationship that understood the person they were with couldn't be replaced..." he shook his head gently. "Letting me go you must have known that I was easily replaced. That you could eventually find another man to fill the void I must have left. Whereas me...I never felt that way. You were the only girl for me." he expressed. He knew those words were a bit strong. He knew that she claimed it was for the sake of his job. But sometimes love should come before other needs. If someone really were important to you, you'd do anything to keep them. Sometimes you had to give up certain goals to keep people close to you. Sometimes you had to make sacrifices.
His parents had made one of the biggest sacrifices he ever knew. His mother went after his father even though he was a werewolf. His father eventually gave in and dated his mother and allowed his heart to open up to her and have a son. Even though his gut kept telling him, it wasn't safe but if he'd never had Teddy would never have been here. Then the ultimate sacrifice was them dying...but dying together. "You weren't willing to sacrifice anything to be with me. I was. Sometimes you have to sacrifice things for the people you love. My parents were prime examples of this," he breathed out. Teddy hardly even mentioned them because the ping in his chest always would appear but it felt like the right moment...
"My father didn't want to be with my mom because he was so terrified that he'd make her give birth to a werewolf. But my mom was persistent. If it wasn't for my mom not caring about this knowledge, if it wasn't for my dad finally giving in to loving my mom I wouldn't be here. My dad never wanted a child and then he had me. Then there biggest sacrifice was dying to protect the world to make sure that myself and you, and everyone else would have a safe world to grow up in." pausing to take a small breath he took a hesitant breath looking up at her. "Sometimes you have to do things that weren't in your planned future to adapt to the people around you. Because people are what makes life worth living not a job. My parents didn't want to die but they died for the people they loved...."
He stopped his rant as he shrugged his shoulders, with a look of helplessness etched out onto his face.

Every word of passion that escaped from his soft lips, brought up an emotion. Victorie was sure she had been in a darker, colder place. Ted's words made her stomach do flips, the goosebumps on her skin froze. It was hard to not feel empathy when looking into his eyes. She had just been stubborn, too stubborn to see the mess she had created. This boy had come undone at her doing. Torie felt as if she broke his spirit along with his heart. When taking in his words she knew she was wrong, but had she not been right in some way? Did Teddy not realize she could have been expelled for dating a teacher? The job may have been replaceable, but was her education? It didn't seem fair to hide their love as if he needed to be a secret. Victorie was sure if she had told him to wait, it would have been a long year. Over her year she didn't really date other guys, she didn't want commitment. Her seventh year she set herself free. She always had great grades but being able to attend a party or two knowing that she didn't have anything to worry about was nice. She loved Teddy with all she was. He had taught her so much, and they were inseparable at one point, but that feeling all seemed long gone.
When realizing how hurt he was, she felt herself tear up. Not because she felt guilt but because she knew every word he spoke was like a dagger aiming through her heart. As strong as she had been it didn't seem to matter. His words were true and as many times as she objected, she couldn't deny the harsh reality graced in front of her. I didn't think you were replaceable Teddy. I never once wanted to replace you, nor had I ever loved after we broke up. said Torie. She had already had everything out in the open so it was must easier to defend herself in some aspects. I didn't want you to put your life on hold for me. You know I've always been the one to live structured and by routine. I was lost in many moments in my seventh year, I didn't want you to be set on thinking of the future. explained Victorie, really she needed to defend herself because his words stung her, where he wounds were healed. A year is a long time Teddy, what if I changed and you didn't love who I became? she asked turning to face him. She walked right up to him and looked him in the eyes. Do you like who I've became? something inside of her needed to know that answer, because if he waited he would have gotten the girl that stood in front of him.
Making Sacrifices. Torie hadn't made many of those in her life, she figured letting Teddy go was hard enough, but hardly a comparison to what he had been saying. Teddy started to speak of them as if they were his parents and she instantly shook her head. Don't you dare compare what we had to that Teddy. she said at his last words. I understand you make sacrifices for the people you love, but your parents were a completely different story. said Torie. She wouldn't allow Ted to go there and act like his parents love was as weak as what they had. Years and years had been put into Remus Lupin and Tonks. Not a friendship that just happened to bloom into more, for a single year. As far as Victorie was concerned she had always had a silly crush on him, but her feeling were only valid from age fifteen on. Teddy didn't happen to see that, he was speaking as if they were destine from age one. The helpless look on his face made her come forward. Torie knew how hard it was for him to speak about his parents at times. She knew he probably would push her away, but she took his large hand in her's slightly smaller and smiled.
Torie had gotten upset but she'd never not be there for him. Hey, look at us we're talking civilly. You've got my head all messed up, I understand where your coming from Ted. I know I may have been wrong, hell I can admit I really think your right. Maybe it could have worked, but a year really is a long time. said Victorie. She had changed and become independent from the spoiled girl she was. Maybe the change needed to happen for her to grow up. The only question is, can we fix us? Can I fix a broken friendship and will you even give me a chance? she asked in a curious tone. She wasn't sure if he could forgive her, but if he was sitting her singing his heart, how could he not? Trust had been broken clearly, and if they were destine for tragedy why would they be here speaking on the topic if at all? She needed to fix the trust issue, and friendship before anything else could happen. She just wasn't positive he'd want her to try anymore. It may have been too late.

Could he really answer such a question? How could he answer this if he hardly knew who the woman was before him? She had been gone for a year and they both were different people now. Actually, it really could all be simply in the man's head. The only thing that changed of Teddy was the fact that he lived with a broken heart. This not being something he planned to divulge to her anytime soon. He lived his days missing that part of his heart that she kept from him. A part of him he knew would never fully recover because the girl had been such a big part in his life. Yet, Theodore Lupin was still that same man that always seeked adventure. His goals in life were still the same and he still had that good natured heart. He still had that drive to do something good in the world and that was a part of him that would never leave him.
As for her? He only knew the little that his adopted siblings and cousins would give to him. He never asked much and only was told what was handed down to him on whim. Parts of him never honestly wanted to know because he feared what could be going on. The main fear of hearing that she'd moved on from him. He knew that the moment that happened he would spiral into another pit of depression. It didn't matter if it had been before, today, or in the future because of how much she once consumed him. It would one hundred and one percent hurt him even if he had been the one that moved on first. However, Teddy knew that he would probably never fully move on with another woman. He feared getting hurt again and even when other girls would ask him out he always felt as if he was cheating on Torie somehow. That would always cause him to say no. His heart seemed to be forever taken.
Taking a deep breath he frowned. "I don't know. How can I know? I don't know you anymore, Victorie? I don't know who you are anymore..." it was the truth. How could anyone judge someone that they no longer had in their lives? Rather people changed or not you couldn't really judge just by what you heard or what you saw. You couldn't judge someone based on anything other than what you yourself had witnessed. Teddy had witnessed nothing of her. "I would have liked to find out. I would have liked to grow with you." the way Teddy had worded something’s certainly made him seem so perfectly equip when it came to being nonjudgmental. This wasn't entirely the case sometimes he was just as guilty as everyone else but he tried to never be that way. He did come from a werewolf father and a no family upbringing so he knew how it was to be judged as someone you weren't. Therefore, it always left him trying his hardest not to be judgmental because he himself knew how it felt to be judged.
"I had hoped our love could have been as memorable as there’s...beating the odds." he kept it short and simple. The talk of his parents always killed him inside a little bit at a time. It had always been a weakness of his. So he took in one huge breath and let her speak again. Speak of how they were able to talk civilly...at least a little civil. Then another question that baffled the young man's mind. Could they be friends? Could he really be friends with her? He knew he still loved her and he didn't know if he even knew how to be the girls friend. Even when he wasn’t with her he always seemed to feel as if he was. Yet when he looked up into that girls eyes, those eyes he fell in love with he only had one answer.
"Yeah." he never did know how to say no to the girl. He wouldn't have been able to see her hurting either way. It was the only answer.
"Yes, we can try to be friends..."

Victorie had known the risks of breaking things off with Teddy. Although a part of her regretted her actions she did miss him. His smile, the way he looked into her eyes and could see right through strong image. Torie put up many guards to protect herself. But she learned she didn't need to put those walls up around Theodore Lupin. She had changed a bit, changed who she was because she never liked being the goody-goody Ravenclaw. Victorie wanted what anyone wanted. Love, acceptance, she wanted the world at times but wasn't foolish enough to push herself. It wasn't much she asked for and she'd always be spoiled but something inside her wanted so much more. Love wasn't something she felt with any man, but Teddy. He was her first in intimate settings and she had never felt more comfortable. There were only so many connections one could feel in life. Torie knew it was dangerous breaking those ties with him back then but she risked it. Torie learned from everything she had went through and grew from all her living experiences but she couldn't deny cutting him off completely may have been a mistake.
She had a point when bringing up the fact that they both had grown, since he had last been in love with her. Some bonds were stronger then others, and she was sure this was something that needed to be worked on. Torie didn't want to think everything was going to be alright in the next couple days. She knew she'd need to think about this whole thing all over again but maybe this time she'd have Teddy as a friend. Just friends how were they going to pull this one off? Torie didn't want to be with any other man but she couldn't hide the fact that if Teddy was only her friend, she'd hate to see him with another. Vic was very confident when it came to what effect she had on him. She wasn't sure if Teddy had been with anyone else and she wouldn't ask. Torie didn't need to get jealous, she had just made up. Teddy mentioned growing with her and he frowned slightly. "I know you would have, it would have been nice to have you around if only as a friend for the past couple years. I find it hard to believe we haven't talked in so long. It was just hard to see my life without you." said Victorie as she sighed and ran her singers through her hair. "I wish I wasn't foolish back then. I wish we could have talked and fixed things. But there is no amount of magic in the world that can restart time. So the best I've got is to try to move on and start over again." explained Torie is a settle tone. She couldn't rewrite time, but she could make sure it never happened again.
Teddy mentioned he wished their love was as strong as his parents and he smiled slightly. "Who's to say it could never be fixed and become that strong again?" She felt herself get hot as she turned to grab her wand from the table. Looking at his wound she figured she'd fix the reason he came here to start with. "Vulnera Sanentur" chanted Torie three times holding her wand over Ted's hand. "See maybe your heart can't be fixed that easy but remember I'm a healer. I can fix many things Theodore Lupin. Just got to trust me." said Torie as she placed her hand on his cheek. Torie gazed into his blue eyes and smiled genuinely. "Friends for now. Just until I can talk you into taking me on a date." told Torie with a wink. She missed being able to be flirty and friendly with Ted. It was something her heart longed for. Her heart once beat for the man in front of her and now she was a jumbled mess of mixed emotions. "Or you could always ask me on a friendly date. Easter break is coming up. We could do something in London, or France? How does that sound?" asked Victorie. She ran her fingers through his hair and didn't let her gaze fade away from his eyes.

Friends.
The word seemed so unheard when in reference to the woman standing before him. Not that it was not unreachable because it once had been. In their younger years they were only friends to the point Teddy never imagined himself falling in love with her. The friendship card had been played so very long ago and even in the midst of never thinking he'd fall in love with her he had. He couldn't imagine being friends with her even now and not finding himself deeply in love with her. Standing before her, he knew that he was still very much in love with her. He didn't think these feelings would ever pass. Even while she wasn't in his life he still found his thoughts centered around her. He still found himself wishing she was his. How could he ever get over her with her in his life? How could he move on when she was still in his life?
Many a day’s Teddy Lupin didn't even care if he never moved on. The only thing that mattered to him was having her in his life as friends or not. He would think to himself how it would be great if she just took the time to keep him in her life. He thought that even if she was only his friend and he watched her move on and be happy with someone else it was better than her not realizing he existed. That is what he felt these past few years that he was nothing to her. That he was merely in her past and that past she had completely forgotten. That he didn't matter and he was so easy to walk away from.
He knew it wasn't exactly true but those thoughts seemingly never faded from Teddy's mind. He partially understood why she left. She felt it would be easier on the both of them and easier for Teddy to keep his career. If they stayed in each other's lives, they'd only probably make the mistake of sneaking kisses, or looks of longing for each other. Yet, in Teddy's head, he still felt having her in his life was more worth it than anything else. He would have settled with the pain of not being able to hold her but still being near her. It was better than having her gone forever. It nearly scared him to think that she could walk away from him again. She did it before...she could do it again.
But he already said they could be friends. He wouldn't go back on that and even if part of his heart said to get out quick, avoid the hurt, his feet wouldn't let him. The other part of his heart wouldn't let him. This girl was too important to him. His heart did a little jolt when she got closer to him again and the words she spoke only sent a thousand more emotions into his body. "Torie..." he murmured as he shook his head, closing his eyes, falling into her touch.
Did she really want him to ask her out? Did she really want to try to get him back in her life as a romantic partner? Teddy didn't know if he was ready for that step. He didn't know if he was ready to fall back into her at this moment. He certainly still loved the girl but that love did not out weight the fear he had of her. "Friends. No date attached to that word...we can hang out as friends..."
Those words scared him more than anything though. The words he spoke made him fear that if he established they could only be friends that she might try to move on. But really, what he was hoping for was that she wouldn't give up on him. That they could work their way too more...it was just too soon. And he feared this girl in front of him would vanish from his life again and before he got too attached he wanted to make sure that wasn't about to happen.
He just hoped that she would prove his thoughts wrong. That she would stay in his life for good this time. Because, by god, he missed her.
