YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • It had finally come, Albus had been waiting patiently for his third date with his best friend, the first two were perfect, and this time it was his turn to pick the date. The boy had learned there was an open mic evening at one of the taverns in the village. It would be cute to set Frankie up doing something he enjoyed. Also Al himself could swoon over the music, and enjoy it. The two could have a couple drinks, some dinner, and watch others perform as well. Albus had lunch with Frankie the previous day, and learned that Frankie had broken a couple of his guitar strings, strumming too hard. Albus never understood what got Frankie so angry, the boy had quite the temper at times, yet Albus found it cute when he was mad. When being scolded in the past he'd brush it off and tell Frankie 'I love it when you yell at me, you're so cute when you're angry.' Then be flirtatious about the whole deal. After that the duo couldn't help to laugh it off and forget about the conflict. The Ravenclaw boy was a perfectionist when it came to his music, working on that new song and not getting it right the first time could have upset him. Ravenclaw's were wise, therefore it may have got the boy frustrated not getting it perfect. Albus didn't stop to ask, he was too caught up in the boy's eyes to bother. Dominic Maestro's would be their first stop in Hogsmeade, which was perfect because Al could convince Frankie to fix his guitar before the evening, then surprise him. Albus enjoyed the music shop, it was nice to be around different noises he could play with.
Albus walked down from the Owlery, he was dressed and ready for his date. Ginny had sent him an owl, which he would read later, and a box of Bertie Botts every flavor beans, Albus hated his luck with the beans but it was a family tradition. The boy was sure he got his crummy luck from his father, though he remembered his father speaking of his namesake and stating Albus Dumbledore, also didn't have the best luck with the bloody candy. Albus made his way down the stairs careful not to trip. It would be awful to tell Frankie, he was late due to the fact he had to take a trip to the hospital wing, for being clumsy. The boy made his way out of the castle feeling the warm Saturday after noon sunshine. There was still a breeze but the winter was coming to an end. Albus loved the hope spring gave him, it always seemed around this time of year his depression would fade away. Albus wasn't like most children who looked forward to the summer weather, he did treasure the winter most. Yet his and Frankie's birthday came at the end, and the break this year would be amazing.
Albus took in a breath and buttoned his peacoat. The boy had told Frankie to meet him before the gates, at the old shady tree they used hang out at before they were privileged to go to Hogsmeade Village. Al could remember them playing as first and second years, around that tree, and after now he'd go there to read and reminisce. The sound of fading laughter filled the air, as Albus walked away from the crowds of children, gathering to enjoy their Saturday. The boy pulled out the box of every flavored beans and opened the package while walking to his destination. He pulled a bean out and looked over it for a moment. Feeling daring he placed it in his mouth and chewed. The flavor of bubblegum rushed his mouth and he purred in satisfaction. There in plain view he could see his mate. The Ravenclaw had his back to Albus as he tip toed over sneaking up on him. Albus slowly wrapped his arms around Frankie's waist and nuzzled his cheek against the boys back. "Guess who, Handsome." Albus mused as he waiting for the boy to turn around.
Those brown eyes looking down at him caused him to look down, and blush a bit as he shrugged into his shoulders. Albus enjoyed this feeling, where he didn't have to feel wrong, and he didn't have to defend himself. Albus naturally would Frankie affection, and the boy would take it, and treasure it. The other day with Ben showed him he deserved better, Though he was nice, Ben pushed him away, and deep down Albus tried to accept it. If Ben didn't want him to hold on why should he? Albus wouldn't be the only one fighting, he had already written that chapter and wasn't sure he would go back. Ben would have to do something, and show Albus he wanted to at least be part of his life, for him to accept it.
Albus bit his bottom lip looking up to meet eyes with the other boy. "I missed you so much." Albus said moving closer hugging Frankie as he got on his tippy toes kissing the boy for a brief second. "So are you ready to start our date? I am excited!" Albus claimed grinning, sliding his hand into Frankie's, lacing their fingers together. "We can start by getting your guitar fixed, then stop at the sweets shop. There is also a new book I need to pick up at, Tomes and Scrolls. Then when it becomes the evening, I have a surprise for you, after we have a nice dinner, yeah." Albus suggested as he started to walk the direction of the small village. In his mind his date seemed perfect he hoped Frankie thought the same. After they returned they could sneak to the room of requirement and cuddle, actually sleep together. It would be nice to be held all night, the Slytherin boy couldn't help to think. "Was your morning alright?" Albus asked looking up to Frankie starting his normal conversation. Albus took the package of beans from his pocket and took one out handing it to Frankie. "Try your luck." Albus said, putting one on his own mouth. Jalapeno, his eyes began to water as he spit it out, laughing the taste burning his state buds. "Jalapeno" Al said scrunching his nose. There was a comfortable feeling about having a crush on your best mate, somewhere deep down, he knew he couldn't get hurt. That alone soothed him.

Frankie huffed as he closed his guitar case and lifted it from his bed. He had broken two strings the other night while he was trying to work on his newest song. He’s been working on it for about a month now, and he thought he had it finished. He had obviously been wrong since he was playing through and got frustrated because some of the notes were just not sounding right. The notes should have been right the way it looked on the paper, but, for some bloody reason, they weren’t sounding the way they should. Due to his frustration, he had strummed his guitar really hard and that’s when two of his strings popped. He thought he had extras, as he usually did, but he didn’t and now had to buy new ones before he could correct the song. Albus had suggested they go into Hogsmeade to get new ones rom Dominic Maestro’s, to which Frankie thought to be a great idea. They decided to make a date out of it, which he didn’t mind in the slightest.
He made his way out of his dormitory and common room, making his way down through the castle and outside into the warm March air. He was to meet Albus down by the gates of the castle that led into Hogsmeade. When he got to the shady tree, he saw that Albus wasn’t there yet. He leaned himself and his guitar case against the tree and waited for Albus to arrive. Frankie was sure he wouldn’t be too far behind him. And as if on cue, though Frankie hadn’t heard him approach, a pair of hands snaked around his waist and a body pressed closed to his. He knew who it was, even before the first words left their lips, and he smiled as he lifted one of his hands and rested it against Albus’ arm. “Hmm, I don’t know who it is, though not many would call me handsome,” Frankie said with his French accent. He then turned around to find Albus standing there and his smile only widened. “Good afternoon,” he said to Albus, his grin not faltering.
He returned the hug Albus gave him, the feeling of warmth rising through him as Albus told him that he missed him. “and I missed you too,” he said softly as Albus leaned up on his tip toes to kiss Frankie’s lips. The kiss was short and brief, though Frankie was sure more would follow later, so he didn’t mind all that much. “Yes I am,” Frankie said when Albus asked if he was ready to start there date. Frankie felt a fluttering sensation in his stomach when Albus expressed how excited he was for it followed by feeling Albus’ hand join with his. Frankie looked down at their interlaced fingers and blushed a soft shade of red when Albus started talking about what they could do. “A surprise, for moi?” he asked with raised eyebrows as the two began to walk towards the magical village. Frankie was sure it wasn’t a bad surprise, though his curiosity was piquing at the thought of what it could be. Now he was curious, even though he knew Albus wouldn’t tell him.
As they walked, Albus asked how his morning was and the Ravenclaw just shrugged his shoulders. “It was all right. Nothing too exciting to share,” he said as he shuffled along next to Albus, their hands still holding each other’s. Frankie then noticed the box of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans that Albus pulled out from his pocket and he smirked as he watched his friend pulled one out and handed it to him. Frankie took it and examined it, though he knew that the color of it wouldn’t give any real indication of the flavor. Frankie watched as Albus stuck his into his mouth and chuckled when Albus’ face started to react to the flavor he’d eaten. Frankie then decided to be brave and try his. He stuck his in his mouth and started chewing, instantly regretting it. His face screwed up into a grotesque look and he spit out the bean. “Ugh, vomit flavor,” he said as he wiped his mouth with his sleeve. “We might need to go get a drink first, because that taste is going to make me sick,” he said with a frown.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Albus felt Frankie's hand on his arm and listened to the boys words as he took his guess, on who Albus was. Deep down the middle Potter knew his best friend would know, and not many people would just spontaneously walk up to Frankie and hug him. Unless it was Brigitte, Harley or Odette of course, Albus was sure Frankie experienced many hugs actually. Therefore the Ravenclaw would just have to narrow it down by height, body mass and feeling. At his words Albus snickered. "Full of shit is, what you are. I'm sure many people call you handsome, as much as the thought makes me envious." Albus declared bluntly. The boy was feeling a bit possessive over Frankie after all the time they were spending together as of recently. It was nice actually, and he found himself slowly falling for the boy. It wasn't a bad feeling, just one that made him nervous, but in a good way. As the boy turned around Albus looked up at his smile. Albus liked that fact that he was the reason for it, it made him feel important to someone, which was more then he could say for some.
Frankie missed him, his heart fluttered a bit in his chest. To be missed, and cared about when your pretense wasn't visible was another great feeling. Though Al missed plenty of people, when Frankie was not there it took it's tole on the Slytherin. Albus was sure it was because how close they were originally, however the longing for someone's gaze, or touch was a bit different then the normal type of missing he experienced. It was a mutual feeling that they both were having, the excitement of being free and going on a date. Albus was sure during the break they could do many different things, like go places besides Hogsmeade, but for now he was content with that they had. Albus had grabbed his hand and motioned to start moving he followed Frankie's eyes down to their hands and then looked back to the boy's face. The shade of red caused him to smile and scrunch he nose a bit. So Frankie liked holding hands, how cute. In the past he never seen the boy blush about something so small. Perhaps he was feeling all the emotions Al was, which was good to know. At least he was not alone in this aspect.
Once in motion he listened to Frankie's words. "Yes, a surprise for you, but I'm not telling you. You will have to be patient, so don't ask." Albus stated stern, it wouldn't be a surprise if he just came out with it. Though his words could have been too harsh. "I will just say this, you will enjoy it, and it's something I know you will remember forever." Albus added as he made a sipping gesture across his lips, indicating he would not speak no more on the topic. The boy smiled looking up at Frankie, boy did he love that accent. It was so different from his own, though it was a little broken. Through the years his mate taught him how to speak the basics, and he enjoyed learning. Now it was just sexy, even when Frankie's best friend Brigitte spoke. Albus couldn't help to notice it, and adore it. The boy would have to hold Frankie to speaking naughty to him in that language one day. A smirk crept to his lips as he blushed at his own thoughts. Albus hoped Frankie wouldn't question his cheeks, as he switched to the vibe of Frankie's day topic.
"Well that doesn't sound promising, let me make it better for you." Albus suggested as he took out the every flavored beans. As he spit out his own he noticed Frankie followed in suit and smirked at the flavor. "Dad said my namesake got that flavor once, I am glad I have not stumbled upon it, Lily gets all the good ones though, and Mum. I always get crumby ones. Though earlier I got bubble gum when I was thinking about you, you must be my lucky charm." Albus mused blushing a bit. He shyly looked down and nodded when Frankie said they needed a drink. "We can do that babe, butter beer, or pumpkin juice or something strong? Though I don't think I'm ready for anything that contains alcohol just yet. I may be recovering from the other night." Albus stated looking down for a moment. He remembered drinking with Aiden the other night, til he was pretty wasted. Yet he wasn't going to bring that up he just knew his stomach turned down the thought of drinking so early. In ways he didn't want his relationship with Frankie to always have something to do with alcohol, as it did Ben. The boy had learned from that, though he did enjoy being intoxicated some of the time.
The village was finally in sight as the boy's approached. The feeling one got when walking into Hogsmeade was lovely. The children, and people that filled the streets were so cheery. It was just a dose of freedom, and he liked the privileged. Albus would constantly wonder why Ben, and James got into so much trouble. Serving a detention on a Hogsmeade weekend would be tragic. Though he also knew Hogsmeade never changed much, so it lost interest when doing it so frequently. Albus entered the village with Frankie by his side looking around. The Hogshead stuck out to him, as he walked toward it opening the door for Frankie. Albus wasn't sure quite yet who was the dominant one in their relationship so he just went with common courtesy when he made his decisions. The boy entered and walked over to a booth looking at a menu, he wasn't hungry just yet so he'd just order a butter beer. When the waitress came over he looked up. "I'll have a butter beer, and whatever my handsome date here wants, don't you think he is handsome? He claims not many people see it." Albus asked with a grin, knowing Frankie would blush. When the older women confirmed his question he smirked, and watched her walk off and get their drinks. "I told you so." Albus stated puffing out his chest a bit, proud. At least he had a handsome date, who was also funny, smart and kind. In his mind he was simply lucky. When the drink were put in front of them he smirked sipping his getting a foam mustache. He didn't notice it, as he got out of one side of the booth and walked to Frankie's side. "I felt too distant." He claimed taking a seat beside his mate as he grinned sipping his drink again.

Frankie couldn’t help but laugh when Albus told him he was bullshitting him when he said that not many people call him handsome. He’s heard it a few times, though mainly from his mother who, in Frankie’s eyes, didn’t count. Parents always told their children they were beautiful, whether it was the truth or not, unless they were just downright mean parents. But, then again, children were always beautiful to their parents; what parent would want to admit that they birthed an ugly child? “Let me rephrase then. Not many whose opinions matter say it,” he said with a wink of his eye. And that was the truth. There were only a few whose opinions did mater to him in such a respect, like Brigitte and, of course, Albus. The random girls that say it to him don’t count because they’re superficial in his eyes. That isn’t the type of handsome he wants to be.
When he asked about the surprise Albus said he had in store for him, he couldn’t help but frown slightly when Albus then told him that he wasn’t going to tell him and that Frankie just had to be patient. He was a very patient young man, this he knew to be so, but knowing that Albus had something planned only made him both giddy and excited for it; he didn’t want to wait, even though he knew he would have to. He could always try to get Albus to tell him, but that would most likely ruin the entire surprise and he didn’t want to if Albus had put a lot of thought into it. Frankie smiled when Albus then told him that he would enjoy it and that he would remember it forever. “I’m sure I will indeed,” he said, his French accent changing the sound of his words.
Frankie grinned and felt his cheeks growing warm when Albus told him that his already not so exciting day would be made better by him. “you already have,” he whispered softly to his friend. After his unfortunate incident with his terrible bean flavor, Frankie was more than ready to get that drink, even before buying the new strings for his guitar. With the grotesque flavor in his mouth, the Ravenclaw Keeper was sure to start blowing chunks all over until it was washed away. He was grateful that Albus agreed to change up their itinerary to get a drink first. “at least you haven’t gotten the one I just had. That’s got to be the crummiest one of all,” he said after Albus told him he’s never gotten a good one aside from the bubblegum flavored one he got just before he met up with him. “I’m thinking butterbeer today. I’m not ready for anything stronger just yet,” he replied.
The two boys walked into the village and headed towards the hog’s Head. Frankie found it curious that Albus chose there instead of the Three Broomsticks, but he didn’t question it. He followed his Slytherin friend to the place and nodded in thanks when Albus opened the door for him. They had yet to distinguish who ‘wore the pants’ in their budding relationship, though Frankie would easily allow for them both to do that, since they both technically did. He didn’t see why one had to always be the dominant one while the other was always the subservient. That didn’t; make for a healthy relationship at all and he would never expect Albus to be one or the other all the time, just as he would never want to be one or the other all the time. The boys walked inside and made their way over to one of the booths that lined the side of the darkened pub.
A waitress came over to them and asked what they would like only moments after they slid in across from one another and Albus ordered his drink first and then said that Frankie could have whatever he wanted, making sure to call him his handsome date as he did so. Before Frankie could open his mouth to order though, Albus then went on to ask the woman if she thought Frankie was handsome and the Ravenclaw felt his cheeks start to burn when she looked at him and agreed. “I’ll have the same as him,” he said before she nodded and turned away from them. Albus then said ‘I told you so’ to him about him being handsome and Frankie merely stuck his tongue out at him. The waitress returned with both of their drinks and Frankie nodded in appreciation to her before he took a long drink from his mug. He needed to get that taste out of his mouth, and quickly.
He looked up at Albus and couldn’t help himself but smirk when he saw that he had gotten a bit of a foam mustache on his upper lip from drinking his butterbeer. This then made Frankie wonder if he’d gotten one from the deep drink he took and wiped his mouth clean with his hand, feeling a bit of foam on it after having done so. Before he could tell Albus that he looked funny with a mustache, his friend had gotten up and moved over to the side of the booth he was sitting in. Frankie moved over to give Albus more room and smiled when Albus told him that he felt too distant from him, which was why he moved to the same said of the table Frankie was on. “You’ve got a bit of something on your upper lip,” he said as he brought his hand up to his own face and wiped at his mouth to show Albus where he meant.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Albus was sure Frankie knew deep down he was handsome, and if he didn't Albus would make it known to the boy. Even if Albus would get a little jealous if others commented, though he had no right. There was no official title for Albus and Frankie, and that was alright with him. In retrospects Al was sure the two were just making sure this was what they both wanted before jumping into a relationship. It was nice to just be able to hold hands, and snog though. Those small things made Albus feel alive, and he knew he was permanently damaged from his past relationship. Albus also wanted to be over Ben before he could be with someone else. It wasn't fair to not give his full love to Frankie if he still felt for Ben. Yet he was pretty content on the subject. Albus hadn't brought up the fight with Ben, he knew it was better for him handle it on his own, as we was on his own time. At Frankie's words he smirked, it would be his Ravenclaw buddy to fix the statement, and not accept the correction. "Well I matter, and I said it so there." Albus stated sticking his tongue out at Frankie playfully.
The two were like that, often correcting one another just for the sake of argument. Albus liked being intellectually challenged by his mate, it was never dull to say the least. Albus knew spending time with Frankie would be the highlight of his day, so when Frankie said Albus already made his day better he blushed and looked down at his feet, squeezing Frankie's hand a bit tighter. The every flavored beans were a risk when consuming. Albus knew that half the beans that were in the package normally got spit out. In his younger years he remembered going bean for bean with Lily til they got sick to their stomachs. Gross past experiences of his youth, it was a shame. Now a days he was cautious of what he ate, especially when it came to candy in the wizarding world. As Frankie spoke Albus snickered, "Oh I bet, eating something that was already processed and regurgitated must be awful, no kisses for you." Albus teased, his wordy disruption caused him to scrunch his nose. No he didn't like vomiting on his own, let alone the thought of...just stop right there. Albus corrected himself mentally before he did lose his appetite.
Frankie concurred to wanting a butter beer, and the two were soon sitting in the pub. Albus looked around for a bit before he made his cute statements with the waitress. When she agreed, the color on Frankie cheeks spoke for him. Albus snickered when she scurried off to grab the drinks. Frankie stuck out his tongue and Albus felt accomplished he won the battle for now. Albus sipped his drink, and switched sides moving closer to Frankie. When in public areas he just has a phobia of being away from those he was used to. Albus didn't get along well with strangers, and he felt safer sitting beside Frankie. When Frankie spoke of him having something on his upper lip he looked to the butter beer and it dawned on him. Albus used his tongue to remove the foam from his upper lips, in a teasing gesture. He then winked at Frankie, before using his hand to get whatever remained on his face. Albus let his feet rock back and fourth under the booth seat. His blue eyes glanced around for a moment before he felt the urge to break the silence. "Was your week okay?" Albus asked now diverting his gaze to Frankie. "Anything interesting happen?" He added trying to strike up conversation. Albus didn't want to bring up his week, first he'd be forced to think about the whole Ben and detention situation, then his night with Aiden. What a week. Albus puffed out his cheeks and exhaled waiting Frankie to give him some details. Then when he thought the question would be redirected his way he took a sip of his drink. "Easter break is coming up, normally I'm not one for liking the breaks, but we can have normal dates. Cook together, watch movies, have sleepovers. Would you like that?" Albus asked liking the topic change better now, he just hoped Frankie wouldn't think he was hiding something.
Albus was thinking about the break. It would be nice to be away from school, and not having to hide at night when wanting alone time. Albus wondered what his mother would think about the whole thing. Yet he didn't care her opinion, though Albus loved his mother, he was his father's son. These types of conversations he would never bring up with Ginny. Albus often stayed in his room when he was home, and his mother had enough on her mind anyways. It must have been hard being alone dealing with the death of a husband. Albus turned his mind off, thinking about that was going to get him moody. It was better to think of things over at the Greene house where he spent a lot of his time. Albus did enjoy being around Frankie's family, it felt homey. What would Mrs. Greene think of the whole Albus and Frankie possibly getting together? "Can you see the look on our mother's faces when we admit to liking each other more then friends? I see that conversation spiraling from how cute, to you may not sleep in the same bed, and the door must be cracked at all times." Albus mimicked in a scolding tone, looking over to Frankie as he giggled at the thought. Frankie chuckled when Albus told him that the idea of already processed foods being regurgitated was awful and even joked about not giving him any kisses. “Fine then, no more for you either,” he joked as the pair made their way to Hogsmeade. As gross as the topic of conversation was at the moment, Frankie enjoyed having these moments with Albus. Even before everything started to change between them, Frankie has always been comfortable with him. Perhaps that is partially why he started to like Albus as more than just the best friend the two have become over the years; all Frankie knew was that he cared deeply for Albus and he hoped that they would never have anything come between them.
Once they were in Hogsmeade, the idea of them being on a date actually set into Frankie’s mind. He couldn’t help it, though he wasn’t complaining either. He wasn’t exactly sure what was going on in Albus’ mind or anything at this moment, but the Ravenclaw wasn’t exactly sure he wanted to jinx himself by thinking too hard on the whole idea. Ever since he realized how he felt for Albus, in more than a platonic way, he’s wondered what it would be like to be in this sort of situation with him. It still felt like a dream to him, but the Ravenclaw was sure it would add more pressure to the situation and make Frankie feel like an idiot as well.
Frankie shook his head when Albus asked him how his week has been and if anything interesting has happened. “Not really, no. Well, unless you count the anticipation of today as interesting,” he said with a smirk. “And then there was the broken strings on my guitar,” he said as he gestured towards the floor where his guitar was resting in his case. They still had to go to Dominic Maestro’s to get new strings for it, but that would have to wait until after they were done here. That vomit flavored bean he ate before changed their plans for the day, but Frankie wasn’t complaining. It wasn’t as if they were going to be canceling what they had planned for the day, which was a good thing. “What about you?” he asked in return.
Albus then mentioned the upcoming Easter break and Frankie couldn’t help but smile. He felt his cheeks start to heat up when Albus said that they could go on normal dates, and rattle off the different things they could do together when they were home. he wondered what his parents, and even Albus’ mother, would think about this pairing, but he wasn’t going to fret over that just yet. He chuckled when Albus spoke of how their mothers would take the news and the extra rules they would add to them spending time together. “I think it will be a shock at first, but then I think those rules will come out immediately after,” he agreed. “I wonder what your brother and sister will think about it,” he said softly.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Albus looked at Frankie flabbergasted when the boy told him he couldn't have any more kisses either. The Slytherin bot knew it was all a joke but he could be very prude and Frankie knew this. Albus snickered to himself and shrugged lightly. "If you think you can survive without them babe." Albus stated confidently. Calling Frankie pet names seemed to come natural, he hoped they were not bothersome to the other boy. Growing up he always felt like he din;t need to change one thing about himself. Frankie knew the ups and downs, the faults and perfections of Albus Potter. There was never anything to hide, which was why it was so hard to be in the predicament he was in. Albus knew he wasn't in a relationship, but he couldn't help to feel guilty. In his mind he knew Frankie wasn't off gallivanting around with other guys, so why should he? This degree of numbness and broken spirit, powered his heart to yarn for affections beyond compare. Albus just needed to catch up with himself, he didn't want to detach from all emotions, as he did when his father passed, though the circumstances were different, it was still a harsh reality that broke him inside. This is where Frankie came in. Deep down, he could feel himself free falling, and he was constantly high. On a cloud nine, and there was no coming down from it all.
Albus hadn't bothered to ask how long Frankie had feelings for him. It was just nice to know the feelings were there, it must have been hard to keep something that dear to heart. Who else knew about it? Albus loved how he was always the last one informed when it came to such matters. The prefect also wouldn't question the depths of his friend's mind. Everything aside, Albus walked into social situations as well as affectionate ones, mindlessly. He knew if he questioned emotions, and love too much he'd freak out. Which was probably why he didn't date til recently. It was also probably why he was still innocent in aspects. Sighing he was finally in Hogsmeade, where he wanted to be. On this date, in this booth with Frankie by his side. Albus just hoped the date went as smoothly as possible. He loved complicated equations amongst other school related work, he tend to stray away from adding complications to his dating life.
Albus listened as Frankie answered his question about the boy's week. A smile crossed his lips when Frankie said he was anticipating today. "As was I." Albus added letting Frankie go one about his guitar stings. "That song must be a beautiful one, if it causes you to get so angry, and you need break strings." Albus mused sarcastically chuckling to himself. One of the things he always fancied about Frankie was his passion for music. Frankie wasn't one to give up, and that showed dedication, and love for what he enjoyed. Albus himself didn't really have a hobby, unless you counted his dancing in front of the mirror being silly. Now he had to think, he may have been boring just like James thought. Albus enjoyed teaching, holding rank but nothing exciting. Reading his novels, and keeping up with the series was as fun as it got. That was enough of that thought train, he bored himself there. Albus ruffled his hair listening to Frankie's question. There it was, as much as he wanted to avoid answering it could he lie? "Nothing really, you know studies and umm.." Albus muttered sucking his teeth a bit. How could he ever be in a relationship if he couldn't be honest?
"Ben hit me, and we got detention because Fitz said I hit him back. Then we had a talk, and he gave me his promise ring, told me when I was ready to give it back, he'd accept it. I broke down, flipped out on him, he walked away, I ran after him, he let me go, and I went to the dungeon and cried myself to sleep." Albus rattled off puffing out his cheeks. The speed of his talking must have been hard to understand, but he just rambled out everything and took a breath feeling much better that it was off his chest. His blue gaze locked with Frankie's and he licked his lips catching his breath. "Ever since then, I have been numb and I just don't want to think about it. It's over and I accepted it. Merlin, is it hot in here?" Albus asked fanning himself. Even if Frankie was mad he needed to confess to this because if he held it in it would have kept him feeling guilty. Aiden was a different story, he wasn't ready to go off and ramble about that night. It was how he handled being numb, and eventually he'd give himself a good talking about the whole situation. Albus was not easy but he handled himself as most males did. Typical and unlike himself, to conform to what other's did but he found peace in it a few nights back. Albus pushed away his thoughts, he shouldn't be thinking like this, but he liked honesty he hoped Frankie would appreciate the same.
Thought of their past sleepovers crossed his mind, and Albus and Frankie always laid together, it would be odd when their mothers found out. How long could the two cleaver boys hide it. If James could sneak girls over and get away with it, Albus could have his alone time with Frankie. "Of course it would be a shock. I doubt Mum thinks I'm straight, but she may have a hard time processing this one." Albus added with a smirk. Ginny knew of the type Albus swooned over, many nights he would speak of his romance novels to his describing his desires for the bad boys. Albus had a bad boy once upon a time, and look where that lead him. Cringing at the thought, he listened to Frankie's next words, "Oh me and Lils would be laying on our tummies on my bed in gossip mode, as for James he doesn't really pay attention to me in that aspect. I think he still assumes I'm asexual, which is another reason he didn't find out about me and Ben." Albus claimed sipping his drink. "Nor would I care what he thought, I don't like the easy girls he brings around, it's sad really. I swear he is going to catch sometime with how girl crazy he is at times." Albus claimed finishing off his butter beer. James was always a case to him, and as much as the two brothers were different, Albus cared for James and knew it was mutual. They didn't always agree or listen to each other, but when it came down to it they were brothers.
Albus waited for Frankie to finish off his drink and he waved the waitress over and paid for it not letting Frankie object to his actions. Male pride was hard to get past but Albus learned if you paid quick enough the other would be speechless, and then argue it another time. "Now for those guitar string, you ready?" Albus asked scanning over the booth making sure they didn't forget any of their belongings. Once that was done he walked out of the pub holding the door for Frankie. On he street he skipping his hand into Frankie's and walked toward the music shop. Albus loved playing with the display instruments, even if he showed a childish trait when it came to touching and trying everything out. At the shop he entered looking around wide eyed. "Where to begin?" Albus asked letting go of the boy's, hand as he walked over to the grand piano and pushed in one of the keys. The noise caused him to grin. "Frankie can you play this too?" Albus asked knowing his friend had many musical talents, he would just enjoy watching and adding an off key in here and there. “I hope it will be,” Frankie said to Albus when his Slytherin friend commented that the song he had been working on when Frankie broke his strings was a beautiful one. “it is a companion to another song I wrote a couple of weeks ago, actually. Sort of like a continuation of it, if you will,” he told his friend. It was a song about Albus, though one he wasn’t prepared to share with him just yet. It was more of like an addition to the song he’d written a few weeks ago about Albus and everything that was going on. The first was sort of just a jumble of emotions, all raw and unrefined, whereas the second was more of a defined and explanatory view of it all, at least from Frankie’s point of view. Eventually he would share it with Albus, but not until it was done.
Frankie felt his eyebrows furrow when Albus had first told him that his own week had been fine, but then seemed to feel the need to share with him more than just the ‘nothing really’ response. He had heard about Ben hitting him and the two of them getting detention, but who hadn’t heard of that? Frankie didn’t know about the rest and he felt his insides starting to squirm and tighten as he listened to Albus tell him about how Ben had given him a promise ring and told him that he’d take it back when Albus was ready to give it back to him. Had he done that already? Frankie felt as if he was starting to frown as he listened to Albus tell him of his ex-boyfriend. No one, guy or girl, liked hearing about someone’s ex, especially if that someone was hopefully to be their future significant other.
Frankie felt slightly relieved when Albus told him that he knew it was over and that he’d accepted that, but there was still that slight nagging feeling deep down in Frankie’s gut that made him uneasy about the whole thing. He knew how Albus felt about Ben so it made the Ravenclaw feel as if there was something more to this whole thing than he was being told. He couldn’t say anything though, especially since he and Albus weren’t anything technical for him to be getting upset about. Granted, Frankie thought that they were heading in that direction, but the technicality of it right now was just not there yet. As much as Frankie wanted to know more, he didn’t dare ask. He was sure it would only plague his mind and ruin the rest of the day. “I don’t think so,” he replied when Albus asked if it was hot in the Hog’s Head.
When the topic switched to how their parents would take the news of them getting closer than the friendship they’ve always shared, Frankie felt relieved. He was glad to shift the conversation back to them and not Albus and Ben. “My mum has always known I had no preference, and that I’ve experimented with boys and girls,” Frankie said with a shrug. “According to both of my parents, they both did the same thing too, before they settled on one another, of course,” he said with his French accent. “To be honest, I think that they just want me to be happy, regardless of who it is with,” he said, glad that he had such open-minded parents. There was a part of him though that wondered how open his parents, and Ginny, would speak of it to them. He wondered if they would they just assume that the two would know that some of the rules would change. It would be interesting to see.
Frankie smirked when Albus admitted that he and Lily would talk nonstop about it all, but that James didn’t pay much attention to him in that respect. “For someone so smart, your brother is surely dense in the head,” Frankie said sadly. “Though I can agree with you on some of the girls he’s brought around. We can only be hopeful that he hasn’t caught anything yet,” he said with a slight grin. He noticed that Albus finished his drink and Frankie went to finish his as well. He asked Frankie if he was ready and the French boy nodded as he lifted his mug to his lips to empty the contents of his drink into his mouth. Albus paid for the drinks and then the two boys got up and left the pub to head to Dominic Maestro’s. when they walked in, he felt Albus’ hand pull away from his and Frankie went up to the desk with his guitar case and opened it for the man behind the counter.
The man went to get the strings Frankie would need and Frankie turned to see where Albus was in the store. He was standing near the grand piano and was pushing a few of the keys down on it. “I can indeed,” he said with a nod of his head. “My mother got me lessons when I was a boy, and she still forces me to practice whenever I am home,” he told Albus. “Is that your way of asking me if I will play for you?” he asked just as he heard the man return to the counter with the strings for his guitar. “I will play for you when we go home for Easter. You can come over for lunch, or dinner, and I shall serenade you with a lovely tune,” he said with a wink before he went back over to the counter and paid the man for the strings. “If you want to play for a bit longer, I can put the new strings on before we leave,” he suggested.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Frankie was always perfecting his songs, and Albus knew how his mate had OCD when it came to most things he did. Both boys were perfectionists when it came to completing a task actually. When Frankie was ready to preform for him, Albus knew the boy would. Then there would be Albus swooning over the lyrics, and trying to relate. It was natural for them. "Well in that case you have peeked my interest, I must hear it once it's finished, because a couple weeks ago was a bit different then now." Albus stated knowing the two boys had been through a lot since then. Albus may have been a bit vain with his assumption the song may have been about him, but he had hope. It was sort of pathetic to want a song dedicated to you, and a bit typical but it would be sweet. Something Albus had failed to see for quite some time. Then it occurred to him there could have been many songs that were for him, and he was blind to it for the past few years. Not that he'd ask but it was cute now that he looked back on it.
As Albus rattled off his harsh truths with Ben, he saw the sadness in Frankie eyes, but he just needed to speak. Over all they were friends first, and even if it hurt somewhere he just wanted to keep things honest with Frankie. When things fell silent he just starred off for a moment. The silence was louder then ever, and he could only wish to know what was occurring in Frankie's mind. Albus couldn't have Frankie doubt him or even have the slightest bit of sadness. Albus gulped and brought his finger tips to Frankie cheek. "I know you don't want to hear about it, but I just want to be honest with you. If I can't, then we would never work." Albus stated not losing his gaze with the Ravenclaw boy. "You know I have no problem lying and stating everything is okay, but with you I feel like I can say anything. Deep I know you will have faith in my decisions." Albus spoke genuinely from his heart. If that wouldn't clear things up he didn't know what would. It was important to be honest, and loyal if they were ever thinking of progressing. The thought made his heart flutter a bit as he dropped his hand from the boy's soft cheek to his knee.
Finally it was over and they were speaking on a different subject. It was good to know it wasn't hot in the room as well, he was just over reacting, as he often did. Albus was not perfect in any ways but with his imperfections he always felt infinite in Frankie's eyes. Albus was glad to know that Frankie's mother wouldn't think nothing of the sexuality part of it all. It was nice to know that he had the support of his mate's parents. Ginny knew Albus wasn't really girl crazy, he liked them as well, but he was always more into males. It was just something he was comfortable with. Accepted long ago, though the Potter boy knew nothing of what his father would say about it. In all reality he knew his parents would have just wanted him to be happy as well. It was only hopeful parents were accepting of such matters. The heart spoke for itself it couldn't always be persuaded a different direction.
At Frankie's comment about James Albus snickered to himself, he shook his head. "I wouldn't say smart mate but, I'll agree with the second half. I think he is mostly just distracted over all but he doesn't make the keenest accusations." Albus added. James was the male in the family who never really settled for one girl, though he had a crush on Emma for years. Albus knew of that, but with a reputation with James' it was hard to shake a girl like Emma's judgments. "Keep our fingers crossed then shall we?" Albus added about the catching something comment. It was only teasing, he knew anything he'd state about his brother behind his back, he could speak honestly to his face. Even if there were consistences to his logic.
As the two left and arrived at the music shop, Albus wondered for a moment while Frankie broke to the counter. It must have been hard a night without his guitar. Albus knew how precious the thing was to the Ravenclaw. It was rather adorable to know Frankie wouldn't function right, without the things he loved in life. Albus being one of them, made his ego a little less harsh on himself. Albus was never blaring with confidence unless it was in the class room, and other then that, he was pretty down on himself. All the flattery Frankie made him feel was a nice change. Made him feel worth something. When Frankie returned he smirked at the boy's comment. The his question Albus shook his head. "Not yet..." He started to say as he remembered Frankie would be playing later for his surprise. The following words sounded romantic, as Albus felt his cheeks heat up. He looked down for a moment hiding his blush. "I can't wait, sounds worth while." Albus stated looking back up his cheeks still tinted pink with shyness.
When Frankie gave him roam to play around with the instruments he nodded. Frankie would need to fix his strings and Albus could explore the musical habitat. The boy got up and walked around plucking strings, and pressing what he could. It was fascinating to him, but he never really got into music. Albus enjoyed listening but not playing. When Frankie seemed finished he walked back over. "I am ready, I need to grab a book at Tomes and Scrolls." Albus stated, it would be late enough for them to go have dinner after he was finished in the book store he was sure. The sky was already fading into late afternoon. Albus waited for Frankie to pack up, and when he was finished he took the boy's hand and walked back out into the village. It was nice, not too loud at this time a day. Albus knew it was only a matter of time before others would start having their drinks for the night, and things would get more active.
When they were at the shop Albus walked right over to the book shelf and grabbed the newest copy of the novel the boys followed. He smirked to himself looking around the store standing still. The aisle they were in was the teen romance section, where the books on homosexuality, and graphic novels on the topic were found. "I think I met mum in here once, in this very aisle, and she caught me looking at the summery of a book's contents, and she then realized I wasn't fully straight. Embarrassing tale, but this aisle reminds me of her." Albus stated looking up to Frankie as he held the book to his chest. Giving Frankie time to glance around he made his way to the counter perching the novel. He would have to start it, soon as he was free to do so. But now it was time to continue his date. Albus stood there his bag in hand awaiting Frankie to join him.

It was always hard to hear or see someone that you care about as more than just a friend talk about, or physically, being with someone else. It was like a knife being repeatedly stuck into your heart, occasionally being twisted maliciously, as if to be a sickening reminder that what you want will never be. For Frankie, he’s had to deal with that for as long as he’s felt more than platonic feelings for his best friend Albus. At first, he never knew of Albus being with anyone, and then Ben came along. It hurt Frankie more than he could ever express, especially once he found out that Ben was an abusive shithead who deserved to be kicked in his genitals and skinned alive for being such a douche to someone as amazing as Albus. Did Ben not see what he had?
At the mention of a promise ring being recently given, it made Frankie angry because he began to wonder if Ben had strategically done it because he had known he and Albus were growing much closer than the friends they have always been. It probably was, since Ben seemed to be nothing more than a selfish prick that wanted everything his way and without opposition. Frankie said nothing about it, though he was sure Albus could see the pain in his eyes. After a few moments of silence, Albus spoke again, bringing his hand to Frankie’s face and telling him that he was telling him because he wanted to be honest with him, and that they wouldn’t work otherwise. “I understand,” he said softly to his friend, meeting his gaze. “It is just frustrating, and painful, to hear about him in such ways after all the pain he’s caused you,” he told him.
Frankie was glad that the conversation pertaining to Ben was done and over with. Frankie hated the older Gryffindor and he hated the way he had such a pull over Albus. Frankie knew that it was a huge obstacle to overcome, but he was willing, if Albus was. After Frankie told Albus that his parents were always on his side, no matter what gender he chose to be with, he could see the relief run across Albus’ face. They both knew that parental approval, while not necessary for them to be together, would make their entire relationship easier when at home and, eventually, out of Hogwarts for good. Albus didn’t share exactly what his mother would say to think about them becoming more than just the best friends they’ve always been, but Frankie was confident that Ginny liked him enough to not trash the idea. That was always a good thing.
When the conversation turned to Albus’ older brother James, Frankie couldn’t help but snort when Albus told him that he wouldn’t exactly call him smart, though he did agree on Frankie’s assessment that he made poor decisions. “Well, we can all make poor decisions,” he reminded Albus, though not trying to say so in respect to anything in particular for either boy, “even us smart ones,” he added. He’s made a mistake a time or two before, like avoiding Albus for a week after their night together in the student lounge, just as he is sure Albus has made a bad judgment call once or twice in his life. He wasn’t trying to point fingers now, of course, but just making a general statement. “But I’ve got my fingers crossed for him,” Frankie said as he lifted one hand to show two of his fingers crossed. “He’ll get it together, eventually,” he said.
In the music store, Frankie was busying himself with the new strings for his guitar while Albus wandered about the shop. When they began talking about Frankie being able to play the piano, Frankie couldn’t’ help but arch an eyebrow when Albus told him he wasn’t asking him to play for him yet. “So then you’ll ask me to later?” he asked him, a curious look in his eyes. He wondered if Albus would ask for a serenade once they got back to the castle, which meant that would bring them to a more private setting. Frankie wasn’t complaining about that. Albus seemed to like Frankie’s offer of playing something for him over the upcoming Easter holiday, once they went back home for a few days. Frankie couldn’t help but notice the redness starting to paint Albus’ cheeks, something Frankie loved to see.
Once the boys were done in the music store, Albus told him that he needed to stop into Tomes and Scrolls. As they made their way through the Hogsmeade streets towards the book shop, Frankie noticed that the sun was starting to fade into the horizon, which meant that it would be getting dark soon. “We should have dinner before we head back,” he said as they walked into the book store. Frankie followed Albus over to a display with the newest novel to the series Albus was reading so intently. Frankie’s given a few of the books a read through, if only because Albus swore by them, but wasn’t half as into the books as Albus was. Frankie snickered when Albus told him about the time his mother caught him reading a book summary and realized that Albus wasn’t fully straight. “Well, there are worse ways for her to have found that out, you know,” he said with a wink of his eye.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Even with his honesty he couldn't help to notice the broken sight in front of him. It wasn't really right to speak of these moments, but Albus couldn't help himself. During his whole relationship with Ben he didn't share with anyone but Frankie, so now it felt like he couldn't vent. Handling things on his own was something he was used to, but he couldn't help do have a soft dislike, for having to be considerate when it came to things, he would normally vent about. It was one of those things Albus would need to learn, and Frankie would have to have patients with. Albus had only been with one person in his life, therefore getting over that first heartbreak was something that was taking a bit of time. It was harder knowing that he'd never be able to escape Ben's gaze. The fact that he wasn't thinking of the 'what ifs' the whole time he was dating his brother's best friend. Ben would always be around, even when he was home, so initially it was a process he'd want to slowly get comfortable with. If things were really that bad, he only had a year before he was legal to move out. Hiding in his room wouldn't be too bad right? No, he could spend time at Frankie's house to avoid the awkward feelings that would be surfaced in his own home, when around his past boyfriend. Albus just didn't know how to feel on the matter, the more he thought about it, the more he felt foolish for even going through with it all.
When Frankie said he understood, Albus quirked an eyebrow. Lies, he could read his mate's emotions better then that. "I know it's hard to hear, I guess I can deal with it myself." Albus said not getting flustered. Even with explaining, it wasn't going to seem right, so why bother. Albus let the topic fade into the air, he didn't want to think about it more. Getting angry with Frankie for Ben's actions wasn't right. In his heart he knew Frankie just cared for him, and he knew Frankie's view on Ben. James, there was another git he could speak on. Frankie referred to the smart ones (meaning them) making bad decisions and he snickered. "Speak for yourself mate." Albus stated chuckling. Everyone knew Albus was a prig that believed he could do nothing foolish. Only when mentioned he'd defend himself naturally, he was far to smart to have anyone say he made bad decisions. Albus lived without regrets because he believed even if he did something and the outcome was bad, it was something he wanted so it was never a bad risk to take. Of course that was only his bipolar nature kicking in, telling him impulse was something he couldn't control. As the conversation went on Albus rolled his eyes and got in his gossipy tone. "He better get it together if he ever wants to be with Emma." Albus said dramatically stressing the girl's name. Al and Frankie were no strangers to James' forever crush. Albus thought it was romantic, but he was unsure his brother could handle an independent women. It would be a sight to see.
As the two packed up and were finally in the music shop he wondered. When Frankie asked him if he'd want him to play later Albus cleared his throat. He couldn't give away the surprise. "By the moon lit lake, under a blanket of glittering stars. It's much more romantic then here, yeah?" Albus asked liking his play on words. Deep down he was swooning at the thought but, he just came up with that excuse off the top of his head. Then it was off to the book store, the day was going by seemingly quick, but the evening was hardly finished. Albus spoke of his experience about how his mother found out about his preference, and he watched Frankie's wink. Albus took it as an invitation and took Frankie hands in his own placing them on his own hips. He then took his hands and placed them around the boy's waist looking up to meet the Ravenclaw's gaze. "You mean if she saw me standing like this, trying to count the shades of brown, and gold in those beautiful eyes of yours, studying your expressions as if I can see into your soul, and we were forever linked as one?" Albus asked not diverting his gaze from Frankie's. That was for making Albus blush in the music shop, blush he liked to see Frankie get all shy as well. The boy knew he had his own little ways to make Frankie's heart flutter, but he wasn't aware the shop keepers were looking the the scene he was creating, and giggling at the two boys. Albus felt himself suddenly heat up, and his cheeks were as red as the Gryffindor colors at this point. "Yeah dinner sounds fine." Albus stated taking Frankie's hand and his gift bag, quickly leading the boy out the book shop.
Albus chuckled "Did you see the look on their faces? I bet they are not used to seeing me like that, I've hung out there since I was young." Albus stated his cheeks still pink at the thought. Albus was sure the shop keeps would have something to say next time he returned, maybe next time he'd have better news to tell them. For now he was content on weaving through the village and getting to the tavern where it would be karaoke night, the boy's could also eat there and have a couple drinks topping the Hogsmeade weekend. Once at the tavern he opened the door for Frankie and walking in after. The stage was not set up yet, so there were no indications of what was going to be happening shortly after dinner. The waitress he knew, and she was young a little flirting could get the boys a little something stronger then butter beer. Albus wasn't ready to drink til he coated his stomach. The empty feeling was setting in as he took a seat beside Frankie at the booth, as he did before. The boy picked up one of the menus and skimmed it looking over to Frankie. "What your going have Babe?" Albus asked as the women set them up with utensils and a couple beers for start. It was nice being in a bit of a formal setting with Frankie, he just hoped his mate was having as much fun as he was.

Frankie sighed when Albus responded to his words about it being frustrating to head Albus talk about Ben after all the pain he’s caused Albus. Clearly, Albus didn’t get how Frankie felt about the whole thing. Albus must have never been put in the position to have to sit there and let a friend be treated as poorly as Ben treated Albus and not be able to do a damn thing about it. Frankie was sure that Albus would have understood better, and not have thrown that answer back in his face, if he’s ever had to be in that situation. If Frankie had his way, he’d literally throttle Ben until there was nothing left of him to throttle. But, of course, Albus didn’t want that. Frankie wasn’t exactly sure why he didn’t, since Frankie was sure the older Gryffindor should know what it feels like to hurt someone the way he hurt Albus, but that is what his Slytherin friend wanted so Frankie obliged him, begrudgingly.
Frankie cast a sideways glance at Albus when he told him to speak for himself when Frankie made the comment about everyone having the ability to make a bad decision every once in a while. Frankie really wanted to snort and throw out examples, but he wasn’t about to start arguing with Albus while they were meant to have a nice day and evening out together in Hogsmeade. The fact that they were just talking about Albus’ ex-boyfriend who was an abusive douchebag was a mistake, but Frankie wasn’t going to bring that back up. He didn’t want to talk about Ben. Frankie also knew that Albus was somewhat impulsive, but that he rarely looked at anything he did as a regret or mistake. That wasn’t always the best approach though because not thinking a mistake is exactly that could lead to a lot of problems down the line. It was one thing that Frankie feared with the possibility of them having a relationship beyond what they already had.
Frankie felt his cheeks growing warm when Albus told him that he would ask for Frankie to play for him by the lake under the moon and stars. “You’re such a hopeless romantic,” Frankie said, though not entirely sure that was a good thing. It was that thought that made Frankie wonder if that was why Albus stayed with ben for as long as he did. Frankie only hoped that it didn’t end up blowing up in his own face too. “But yes, that does sound much more romantic than in the middle of a music store,’ he said with a grin. Frankie wasn’t really a romantic like that. He wasn’t sure if Albus expected him to turn into some sap that spouts poetry and sings serenades him all the time, but Frankie really hoped not because that wasn’t who he was. They finished up in the music store and then left to head to the bookshop so Albus could look into a new book or two.
Frankie’s cheeks burned a deeper shade of pink when Albus asked rhetorically if a different way for Ginny to learn of Albus’ homosexuality would be by counting the brown and gold flecks in Frankie’s eyes. The rest of what he said only made Frankie’s entirely body quiver as he subconsciously licked his lips. “Well, yeah, that would probably give her a heads up too,” he said as he ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn’t sure how else to respond to that, so he didn’t. Albus sure had a way of making Frankie feel as if he was the only person in the world, but Frankie was insecure about a number of things to really let himself fall into it. He couldn’t help it, no matter how much he wished he could, but he was trying. In all honesty, once he and Albus were officially something more than just friends, he would probably feel better about it all, but that time hadn’t come yet.
They left the bookshop and it was now getting dark. Frankie chuckled when Albus asked if he saw the look on the bookshop owner’s face at their little display in the shop and Frankie shrugged his shoulders. “I wasn’t really paying attention to them, to be honest,” he said as he kept his face looking straight ahead. He could feel his cheeks heating up, which meant that they were turning red, and he didn’t want Albus to notice how bad they were reddening. The pair walked into a tavern and they made their way to a booth and sat down. “I’m not sure yet, but I kind of want something greasy,” he said as one of the servers set up their table. “What about you? Do you know what you’re getting yet?” he asked. Frankie could easily order a burger, but he was curious what else the tavern had to offer. They could have a special that was appealing. You never know.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Albus was stubborn, and he knew Frankie knew that. When it came to a lot of things he didn't really view them from someone else's perspective. So maybe he wasn't right for fully giving off an attitude but he still had his opinion that stood strong. If only he knew about Frankie's crush earlier maybe he wouldn't have even been with Ben, maybe things would have been different, but maybe was a word and this was reality. Was Albus hurt after going though all he did with Ben, yes but did he learn in the process? Yes, there was always something life taught you when taking risks, and he would regret anything that had happened this year. That look in Frankie's eyes, at Albus' comment to speak for himself indicated Frankie was biting his tongue as well. The two could stand the bar all day and argue about the situation, but neither of them choose to so the date went on.
In the music shop Albus watched Frankie's cheeks turn red from his comment about the stars. Albus had a picture perfect view of what he wanted in a relationship, but he just never made the effort for make his dreams come true. A hopeless romantic? Albus smirked to himself, and nodded. "I want romance so badly, and love, and I want it to be like the love in an 80's movie." Albus explained with a grin. How those muggle flicks displayed love made him long for it more. The countless nights of swooning in his room, watching the television, brought hope to his heart yet. Albus was snapped from his dreamy dazed state when Frankie said it was more romantic then the music store and he snickered. "Of course." Albus said before they took their leave. In the book store there was another scene, the color of Frankie cheeks gave him away, and the way he calmly remarked on Albus' comment caused him to smile. The book store romance he could see it now. Walking on the street Albus spoke of the people in the store, and with Frankie's comment he smirked and nudged Frankie lightly. "Too mesmerized by my charm?" Albus mused as they made their way to the tavern.
Finally at the destination Albus glanced over the menu. When eating he was a little picky, but never the less he had a large apatite today. When Frankie suggested something greasy he licked his lips flipping through the little book. "I want buffalo wings, I've been craving something spicy. The food at school always seems so bland." Albus enjoyed food with a kick. His mother never really was interested in changing up her cooking routines but Grandma Weasley always was teaching him in the kitchen about different dishes. While all his cousins were outside waiting for the cookies to be made, Albus was inside with his grandmother helping her make them. Someday he'd be a good spouse. "Yeah, that sounds about right, and a salad." Albus said closing the book looking over to Frankie awaiting the boy to make his final decision. Soon after the waitress came over and took their orders, walking off.
His blue orbs glanced at the mug of beer, Albus had done somethings he wasn't exactly proud of on alcohol and it all started with a sip. Not sure if he was catching a tolerance or a habit at this point. It was just taken away from his own personality, and he was shocking a lot of his friends apparently. On second thought he may not drink tonight, he wanted to be sober around Frankie, so when the waitress came back he'd deny his drink and ask for a pumpkin juice or something. Albus pushed away the mug and turned to Frankie offering a weak smile. There was a little guilt built up in his chest, but soon enough he'd fix it. "So any girls ask you to that dance yet?" Albus asked trying to start a conversation. Right now he needed to stop dwelling in the past, and look to the perfection in front of him. Albus had a great way with messing things up, but he wanted this.

Frankie nodded his head when Albus told him that he wanted romance. Frankie knew that well about his best friend, which sometimes made the Ravenclaw wonder if he’d ever be able to give him what he wanted. Frankie could be romantic if he wanted to be, but he was far from a sappy kid. He could handle some of the stuff he knew Albus read about in his books, but Frankie wasn’t sure he’d be able to do that all the time, every time. He’d make an effort for Albus, if it was necessary, but he wouldn’t just change his entire being for him. He was sure Albus wouldn’t want Frankie to change that much anyway, even if it meant him becoming a sap. Frankie clung to that idea.
When Albus had mentioned the scene the two boys had put on in the book store and how the employee there found it most amusing, Frankie admitted that he hadn’t noticed. He told Albus that he hadn’t been paying attention to the shop worker or how he found their interactions amusing, which prompted Albus to ask Frankie if he had been that distracted by his charms. “You’d love for me to say I was, wouldn’t you?” he chided with a grin on his face. In truth, he had been, but he didn’t want to boost Albus’ ego too much in one day.
When the boys made it to the tavern, they had both slipped into one of the booths and looked over the menu. Frankie wasn’t completely sure what he wanted to eat, though he had expressed his desire to eat something greasy. He asked Albus what he was going to get and his friend told him that he was craving something spicy. “Buffalo wings are good,” he agreed as he continued to look over the menu. “i think I am going to get a burger, with everything on it, and some fries,” he said as he too closed his menu and waited for the waitress to come over and take their orders. They hadn’t waited long for that and both boys ordered their food and drinks before the woman walked off.
Frankie noticed that Albus didn’t touch his mug of beer, but the Ravenclaw boy didn’t say anything about it. He hoped that Albus wasn’t intending to get shitfaced tonight because Frankie wasn’t going to be and he didn’t want to have to drag Albus back up to the castle after dinner. Frankie decided that he wasn’t going to drink the mug he had either, not wanting to if Albus wasn’t. He snorted when Albus asked if any girls had asked him to the dance yet and shook his head. “Not yet, though I am sure none will,” he told Albus. “the only girl I’d go with anyway is brigs,” he said with a shrug. He wasn’t sure if his female best friend would even be going to the dance, but he’d go with her if she asked. “What about you? Any hot girls try to snag the ever so popular Albus Potter?” he asked.

YOU MIGHT BE CRAZY, BUT HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELYthat i love you, you're the only reason that i'm not afraid to fly • • • • • • Romance, there were many small things that made up such a word. Albus was a boy of simple desires, he didn't need someone standing outside of his window with a guitar, and a dozen roses. The look on his family members faces would be as shocked if he was, if that were ever the case. No, he didn't need a man to pay for him, or buy him things. Albus didn't want someone to be there in his personal space every moment of the day. If anything he was a loner by choice, so that wouldn't be necessary anyways. Albus just wanted that contentment, that feeling of love when looking into someones eyes. The belief in someones words toward him, with no question. To be held when he needed it, to be assured there was no reason for him to be insecure. Just to be perfect in someone's eyes, with all his imperfections valid. Albus Potter didn't do cliche, he was charming as he wanted to be, only when he wanted it. That was how love should be, acceptance on all levels. Albus wouldn't change himself for someone, so he knew he wanted to love someone for who they were, not what standards he mentally set. This was proven when he dated Ben, he went into the relationship with expectations, and learned to love past whatever standard he had set.
It was hard to let go, but he needed to grow as a person. Which he was, slowly but surely. It was odd to him how much he did care about Frankie. Albus may have had a couple nights with guys, no commitment, and frankly he woke up disappointed. Even when fooling around with Frankie, he still had a feeling of self worth, which proved to him his emotions on the topic. Frankie seemed to brush off his words as if he didn't mean them. It had seemed to be a joke, and he grew sad because of it not stating his feelings. Albus wouldn't try anymore, perhaps not even speaking of love would better things. Showing someone was more important then saying it, but in a public setting all he could do was hold hands and try to make a connection. After ordering his own food he looked around for a moment. Always having something to say seemed like a way to make things less awkward, but now he was feeling like when he said things, it wasn't right either. Confusion spread through his mind, and he looked over at Frankie nodding when he spoke of what he wanted to eat. "Sounds good." Albus concurred with e hesitant smirk. Was he over planning for this date, it may have been too soon. Panic, the worst trigger to his insecurity. Albus fidgeted for a moment in his seat trying to get away from his thoughts. So consuming, yet distant.
A change of topic was great, as Frankie spoke of not having a date for the Sadie Hawkins dance Albus quirked a brow. Brigitte had been Frankie's best friend so Albus need not worry if that were the case. Redirecting the question his way, Albus sucked his teeth at Frankie's play on words. Popular, Albus had always lived in the shadow of James, his popular brother. He wouldn't conform to the idea of being popular. Although he knew deep down, he must have been cute with how many people told him, he wouldn't want to think of himself as a topic the female population swooned over. "Of course, they are lined up from the dungeon all the way to the towers. The fact that I can't even hold a conversation with them, doesn't even seem to repel them. I swear I'm like a girl magnet." Albus said his tone full of sarcasm. Frankie knew damn well Albus couldn't speak to a girl. Let alone one singling him out to ask him to a dance. What would he do? He'd choke and run off hiding behind a book somewhere, wondering why life was so complex. When the food was brought to them, the smell of hot sauce filled his nose, and he smirked looking over the dish. "Bon appetit." Albus said as he started to eat a bit. The burst of flavors, filled his mouth, how he loved Buffalo wings and ranch. The boy picked between that and his salad til he was full.
Not drinking was going to be a good decision tonight. Albus could only be with people when he was drinking most of the time. Perhaps if he were fully sober, Frankie would believe him when went through with actions. And yet, he just hoped he wasn't screwing up. Albus had a tendency to be pessimistic about everything. He just wanted some reassurance he wasn't, and he wanted to know everything was going to be alright. "That was brilliant." Albus stated drinking some juice to wash down his food. Albus aqua eyes skimmed the room, as the bar keep was starting to set up center stage. Open mic night would be beautiful, he just hoped his friend was a performer. Frankie was talented, Albus knew this. Yet he hadn't really seem him ever do something this lively. The boy was a bit shy, quite like himself, and if he couldn't go through with it, Albus wouldn't blame him. As the mic and speakers were set up Albus leaned toward Frankie. "So I hear tonight is open mic night, you ready to play me that song you've been working on?" Albus asked directing his gaze to the stage, hoping Frankie would put two and two together. Albus wondered if Frankie would finally understand all his little hints to the evening, and wondered if the boy would know it was planned this way.
