Venus sighed as she pulled her head up to observe her reflection in the mirror. Her chocolate brown eyes stared back at her with a sort of nervousness but most of all, annoyance. The full moon was approaching quietly and she was sure she just might faint from the building antsy feelings she felt bubbling just under the surface. Besides that, she was dead tired of being a toy used by society. She might laugh and smile and try to be nice but none of them actually saw the hurt in her eyes, the acceptance she sought and worked for but never received. The friendships she'd built over the years had come crumbling down, they used her when they wanted but when she called, they never came. So she was tired of this nice act and was ready to drop it. Just before she'd gotten to the Ravenclaw Common Room, she'd nearly bitten another students' head off for walking into her. She was almost irritated with herself too but that might not have been triggered by the effects of the approaching full moon. Venus sighed, her emotions were going crazy like they always did when the transformation started creeping on her and as much as she hated it, she actually liked the feeling. It was as if all her bottled up feelings were exploding out so she could be free for once. As if that wasn't enough, due to the full moon being mere weeks away, her bones and body ached with sickness. She wondered if she really wanted to fight this or go to bed. The latter seemed like a really good option, yet, Venus was determined, stubborn. She wasn't going to rest like some weak little girl. She wanted to get out of the castle, feel the cool wind on her skin.
Her hands pulled themselves out from the water in the basin she'd let them sit in for minutes of trying to release the emotions that were going wild. It had worked, for the most part, she felt much calmer. Looking down at her hands, she found that they weren't covered in cuts but had one scar running down her left wrist to her knuckles. The sight of not having them bleeding surprised her. At night, she'd usually wash them so hard, hard enough to make them crack and bleed, knowing perhaps one day she might go out of control and the same hands would kill another or that her own hands were considered filthy and tainted. Most nights, she'd let them bleed until she was sure she felt clean enough to go to bed and magic them back to health.
Except, for once, that night, she didn't feel like a mutt but an actual person and it made her smile. Turning on her heel, she dried her hands and strode out of the common room, pushing the door open and walking aimlessly throughout the corridors. For once, Venus felt good which was a weird and almost foreign feeling. She hadn't expected to feel so carefree, she'd thought that happiness came with the price of having to calculate every move until she was sure the outcome would be positive. Stuck in a life where she had to thoroughly evaluate every action she did to make sure she didn't screw up had always been hers but now she was sure she liked this new feeling and wanted to spend the rest of her life like this. That is, until she snapped to sense and reminded herself that if she did, harsh consequences were sure to come.
Venus found herself trudging through the Forbidden Forest once she realized she couldn't be locked in her own thoughts for the entire day. It wasn't a horrible place to find herself in. She loved the outside, the nature, and usually visited the Forbidden Forest when the castle became suffocating and the Black Lake and the lawns were too crowded. The forest was better, quieter, more peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. Some might argue that it was rather creepy but the girl spent every full moon confined in the forest, running with her pack (the only time she usually consulted with them...) or spending her time there for detention in her earlier years. The professors soon realized that she actually enjoyed her times there and moved her to the small rooms (or prisons, she called them) in the dungeons where she tried to not be panicked from the claustrophobia. If it was any normal student in the Forbidden Forest, they would've probably had detention (hence the forbidden) but werewolves were werewolves and they were known to having explored the forest despite it being forbidden. Though, being what they were, all of them were safe in these dense thicket of trees and had special leeway once the full moon became closer.
Though Venus made sure to stay away from the rest of the werewolves coming in, she considered the place to be her own haven and wasn't too keen on spending her precious time there talking to someone, especially to her siblings. Unless, of course, it was Demetrius. The boy, she felt, was her own to protect. Yet, the footsteps that suddenly approached were definitely not his, they were something louder and heavier, an older boy, she was sure. She desperately hoped it wasn't one of her siblings, although some were pretty tolerable and she sometimes allowed them within a three meter radius of herself. Eyeing, the area she stood in, she knew that there wasn't a chance of her just walking away from the approaching person so she quietly pivoted around to face the other.
As soon as they burst into view, Venus was sure of two things. It wasn't one of her siblings, and it wasn't a female. He seemed to be a regular student but she was pretty sure none of them dared to go into the forest unless under a prank, or the influence of troublemaking, or drunken thinking. Mentally shrugging, she let out a wary greeting.
"Hey," She said, a wary look and sound in both her eyes and voice. For all she knew, he could be some prankster or drunk finding his way into the Forbidden Forest that may or may not be currently overrun by werewolves. Venus let her hand fly to her hair, letting the fingers comb out the waves of brown as she surveyed him. "What are you doing in the forest?" her question wasn't intrusive, but curious. Okay, so yes, she wasn't ready to ask for his name or give out hers. The question had flown out before she could even consider it. Since it was dark, she couldn't see him much even with her heightened eyesight, although, the trouble might have been due to the fact that since the full moon was merely weeks away, she felt too weak or sick to actually pay enough attention. He was therefore, unrecognisable. She wasn't sure if she even wanted to know him. All she'd planned to do was come out here and relax, since she was rather weak and felt pretty much like her bones were all tingling with either excitement or pain, she'd expected it was best to come here to calm down. She wondered if her siblings had thought the same or stayed in their beds. Venus took a light step forward and then another until she had enough light to see the newcomer's face. He was handsome, that was a definite observation. Very handsome, with dark eyes and a strong build. She suddenly wished she'd asked for his name before, even though she was sure she knew it already. It would've been nice to hear him speak, his voice must have been nice. After a few seconds ticked by, recognition dawned on her. He was Ezra Meadows, the mysterious bad boy in his sixth year. Taking a step back, making sure he had his own personal space, Venus bit her lip. She wondered why he was out here, he was known to be a sort of nature lover, she guessed. Though it was night, barely enough light to admire the nature. Still, it was enough to see him. words 1, 365 tagged ezra meadows / shawn notes Oh, gosh, I'm always stocked up on Venus muse :D but I'm sorry this starter took so long to get up... credits To Melanie![/blockquote]
