Lily found herself sprawled out in the grass in the courtyard. Normally she wasn't so anxious and she was rather laid back but Lily could figure out what was going on with her these days. Lily had spent all morning with Devonn trying to play with makeup, and get her hair into some kind of style. The more and more she looked herself over, the flustered she got. Was there something wrong with her appearance? She got she wasn't the most pretty girl, and she never wore revealing clothes, but really? Lily guessed it took time for guys to notice girls when they had such a heavy surname. Although she didn't feel like that was an excuse, somewhere she felt empty. Her first kiss was taken, and it wasn't the one she expected. The one that was suppose to put goosebumps on her skin, and make her heart beat faster then light. No fireworks, no nothing to grasp. Maybe she wasn't pretty enough, or maybe she had been considered off limits because of her large family. Lily sighed heavily, the day had led her to the courtyard and now she was just waited for something interesting to happen.
Lily looked at the small patch of clouds in the sky. It had been a beautiful day outside. The puffy cloud has the shape of an elephant on a unicycle and she giggled to herself. Lily remembered when her father was alive and she'd lay side by side with Harry and make shapes. It wasn't the same without him, but she could hold on to her good memories. Lily chewed the inside of her cheek and sat up. Feeling restless she guessed she needed to find something more entertaining to do. Maybe she could go to the greenhouses and help with the plants. It didn't sound too fun, but she figured it would be more interesting then watching the clouds alone. Lily walked and she could see a group of girls giggling. Her eyes wondered to the boy they had been fawning over and she shook her head. Grimshaw Nott, he was a looker but she never really liked the things she heard about the boy. Lily walked toward him, and when she managed to get his attention she paused. He had been working out, and now she could see why the girls were gawking. "Don't stop now, you wouldn't want to disappoint your adoring fan club, Nott." Lily told him eying the group of girls who made ridiculous noises in the distance. Lily rolled her eyes walked past him, guys had it so easy. For a moment she wondered if he was going to stop her, and retaliate so she slowed down she strut just in case. Grimshaw was doing his normal routine and he was now on his last bit of it; step one was to get up and get dressed. Step two was to get something to eat and then last and one of his favorite times was working out. To him he had to be in shape if he wasn’t bad things could happen for the Slytherin Quidditch year, he was not about to be the reason that the team lost. He would not disappoint his cousin and captain. Jogging to the courtyard, he took off his shirt not to get it sweaty and dropped in to the grass to his left. Then he got on the ground and started to do pushups. He smirked as he could hear the girls starting to giggle and whisper about how hot he was. Grim loved the ego boost they gave him so now he moved and started doing sit ups ever so often he would wink in their direction. If the only knew that he was thinking about how stupid they were looking right now because no one would be getting a piece of him only one girl was good enough for him but it was his fault that nothing had come of it yet but he was sure it would.
Laying on his back as he got ready to pull himself up again he heard the red head that he was crushing on he loved her comments to him and sometimes pisses her off on purpose to get them. Turning his head he chuckled as she continued by. Jumping up to his feet he slowly jogged next to her smirking as if he had won something. “Potter what’s got you all twisted today? Those girls know what is worth looking at of course that is me” he said sounding a bit cocky and full of himself. It was a bad way to flirt but that was one of the only ways he knew how. To him he didn’t understand why she didn’t like him but in time he was going to win her over. Looking over at the girls he sighed there was a deep part of him that wished they would go away but it was so small of a feeling that he didn’t dare tell them too.
Looking back at Lily he smirked wondering what was on her mind and what she truly was thinking. Taking a breath he sighed again almost annoyed but pushed it back. “Hang on to your broom the next qudditch match against us Lily you knocked me off my broom I might just return the favor” he was lying he would never hurt her on purpose; sure everyone else was fair game but he always left Lily alone. Looking down at his shirtless chest and then back to Lily “you can’t tell me you don’t like what you see.”

Lily had to count down from five in her head, she mentally went down the list three, two.. She smiled when she heard his footsteps. Well she had gotten his attention, which she could use right now. Lily knew this boy from classes and quidditch, she could deny he was easy on the eyes but that ego of his reminded her of her older brother. Lily could handle boys like him, she always had no problem with turning boys down, and putting them in their place. From early on she was a competitive girl, a tomboy. Anything guys could do, so couldn't Lily. She always tested her limits, to prove that to herself. Lily came to a stop when he ran up beside her, she looked over his half naked body and then snickered to herself. As muscular as he was, he wasn't fully developed. A little on the thin side, she could easily pop his ego if she so please, but she didn't feel like being mean just yet. Twisted? The male population got her twisted but she couldn't just come out with that. At his cocky comment she sucked her teeth "Maybe I am blind, but I just don't see what they are talking about. Maybe that muscular body of yours, is over shadowed by the size of your big head!" Lily told him, being big headed meant he had an ego, but she was sure he already know that one.
Lily gave him a sheepish grin when he commented about her knocking him off his broom. Oh Merlin, did it feel good to watch him fall. It felt good and bad in one, but good prevailed because it effected him. "Oh, can't handle the heat Nott? Get out the kitchen. I'll be sure to hold on, you do your best not to make the same mistake twice. Seeing you sitting on your arse was the highlight of my day." Lily admitted with a dimpled smirk. She could get use to this bantering with him, it was certainly more interesting then what she had been doing. Lily's eyes followed his and she almost choked at his words. Was he serious? Lily looked away trying to hide the fact she was blushing. Forward little git, he was. But he couldn't compel herself to cater to his inflated ego. "Grimsey, how could I like anything I see when it comes to you?" She asked quirking an eyebrow looking back to him. Lily wasn't one to go with the crowd, she noticed every other girl liked him for his appearance. "You have your fan girls to tell you how pretty you are, you don't need anything more adding to that ego of yours." Lily told him, she was being honest. "Ever think what was on the outside didn't count? You're are a selfish, spoiled little prat, who needs girls to fluff his confidence. I hate to break it to you, but it's what's in here that counts." Lily said putting her cold hand to his warm chest. For a moment she couldn't believe she was touching him, and when she noticed she backed up and checked herself.

He kept an unreadable expression on his face as he watched her stop and looked over his body. He was used to feeling like a piece of meat that all the girls around his age wanted but when Lily looked at him he didn’t feel like that at all. This was what made him think his girl was the one for him. He knew it wasn’t because she was blind it was because she didn’t want to admit it just like he didn’t want to admit his feelings about her. He pretended to frown as she said she couldn’t see it and even added a slightly mean look when she added the big head comment; he wasn’t really upset through because not a lot really hurt him he was happy who he was looks wise and no negative comments made him change his mind. He knew Lily had a point sometimes his ego and spoiled side came out way to much but the last thing he was going to do was tell him that. Grim was not one to react quick he always let his mind think first before commenting on anything. So for a few minutes he just watched her out of the corner of his eye. “You are just too funny Lily Potter. Ever think about being a comedian?” he asked with a little bit more coldness than he wanted it to sound.
There it was the grim that he loved from her he was glad she enjoyed knocking him off his broom. He will let her do it often just to make her happy. He would never admit that he was taken aback by the fact that a girl knocked him off his broom and even though he tells himself he would let her do it again he was probably going to figure out how to make sure it doesn’t happen again unless he did it himself to make her smile. Laughing a little at her comment he grinned widely “I was born in the heat I live for it.” Grim was just happy that they were talking this was one step closer to his goal then he was two days ago even if they were bickering or just talking he would take it. He suddenly had to wonder if she was being serious when she answered his question with a question. “I am not interested in fan girls” he spat out before he sighed quickly not understanding why he had jumped and not think. What was it about Lily that got him wanting to be different? Shaking his head he cooled his thoughts and smirked as if that line was never spoken.
“Spoiled and self I never said I wasn’t but it takes one spoiled brat to see another.” he said before taking her hand into his; he honestly loved the feeling of holding her hand but suddenly she had backed away causing him to almost frown but he pulled himself together and smirked. “Don’t be scared I don’t bite much.” he said as he open his mouth and pretended to take a bite out of the air. and to let you know Ms. I think I know everything! There is more to me then my looks they are just an added bonus.” The fan girls only saw the outside but there was a lot to Grim it was not his fault no one wanted to get to know the guy under all the outside and rough personality. Thinking about what he could say and point out on her so he could add something to this bash his looks phase. “At least I am not a goodie-two shoe that does what she is told and never leaves her comfort zone. Come on Lily Potter there is a how world to see. Live a little once and awhile. ” He was not sure how that was going to go over but if she was going to try and hurt his ego he was going to call her out too. Looking over Lily’s head he glared at the girls, you could hear squeaks as the girls ran away quickly. Grim was tired of them. Looking back at Lily he smiled. “There now we are alone.”

Lily was baffled on how a boy could get himself to be so cocky. Naturally he had a list of girls helping him along the way, but she liked to remind herself over blaring confidence was normally due to some hidden insecurity. Lily would find out, she made it her mission. There was no way someone could be as perfect as he showed himself to be, it was impossible. Lily didn't really find egotistical boys attractive, she was more interested in the other rumors she had heard. Lily knew Grim had a reputation for being trouble, with a capital T, but she never really saw it. Come to think about it, she never really got out much to witness it. Lily had sheltered herself from a lot after her father died, she wasn't really one to go to parties and if she had, the look on her brother's faces would be priceless. Lily licked her lips listening to him go on about her being a comedian. "Yeah, I have thought about it. Just so happens your the punch line to a lot of my jokes." She teased. She could sit here and banter with him for hours and not get fed up. Really Lily didn't let things people would say bother her, why should she. As confident as he was about himself, she was as well. Though Lily questioned things, she was far from insecure.
Lily had knocked him off his broom, but in her opinion she did it for good reason. Mr. Nott tried to aim a bludger at her best friend, she couldn't have that. It was the best thing to do, but she accepted the challenge. If he could accomplish knocking her off her broom, power to him. Lily wasn't going down without a fight though, and she hoped he was prepared her repercussions. Lily had told Grim he would be cocky because of all his attention from his fan girls, and when he stated he didn't need them she rolled her eyes. If girls didn't toot his horn, he was the only one. Lily laughed in his face when he called her a spoiled brat. Lily had been well of being the daughter of Harry Potter but did anyone ever see her wearing something expensive? Lily hadn't ever used her wealth to boost her confidence if anything she wore her bother's big t shirts and loved the simple things in life. "I have to disagree with you there Nott. I'm not spoiled and I'm not selfish. Maybe if you took time to see past thinking about yourself, you'd see that." Lily had been one of the most selfless individuals she knew. She was always helping others, she even helped his little sister from time to time. How could he call her a lie, what she said was true. Now they were on rocky grounds.
Lily's blue eyes rolled into the back of her head when he said he didn't bite much. "Make that one up all by yourself?" She was referring to his flat attempt to flirt. Lily had heard that before, all the Slytherin boys seemed to tell her something to get her to speak to them. Lily was well aware a lot of Slytherins didn't like her, but she was aware they liked the challenge she was. Lily couldn't deny she enjoyed teasing just as much. When Grim claimed to be more then just a walking ego she scratched her head. "I'm pretty sure your doing it again. Talking about yourself just proves I don't just think, I know I'm right." Lily said, if she wanted to get to know him she'd ask. He didn't need to make it clear to her, there was more to him then what she thought. At his last words she shoved him a bit, he was playing with fire. "Who are you to telling me I never come out of my comfort zone? You don't know me!" Lily protested as she crossed her arms over her chest. Now she was peeved, Grim scared off all the girls and she sighed. "So what, we're alone big deal. Is this the part where you promise your going to take me to see this world, I'm sooo shut out of?" Lily asked rhetorically narrowing her eyes, she was sure he had the upper hand picking at her like that, but she guessed he was right in a sense of she wouldn't have gotten mad. Lily tapped her foot on the ground. "Have it your way, show me the 'fun' side of life." Lily said using her fingers for emphasis.

There was a lot of reasons Grim was the way he was no one really knew his past or what he had seen that one moment that changed him more than any event he has ever been through. He himself made it so he was had an over ego so that he could find the one thing he was scared of. Even though he figured that Lily would understand seeing, she recently lost her father. He was also the type that didn’t like showing that type of emotions. He grinned at her reply about him being the punch line for every joke. He mentally sighed and wished he could break this habit and show her something different, he knew he had good things too his sister was the living truth to that seeing he raised her. For a moment his mind got lost thinking about really random things like should he change? Was it worth it? He shook his head no it wasn’t worth showing his deep feelings not yet anyways. For now he was happy with just his sister seeing his softer more gentle side. Taking a breath he scanned the area to make sure no one was looking as much as he didn’t care what people thought about him he still didn’t like people seeing him different.
Grim wasn’t as cocky as he seemed to be he just acted that way with girls because he didn’t know how else to flirt. He had never had a girl that liked him for his heart, it was always about his last name or that he was Scorpius’ cousin no one really ever got to know him. It was probably why he pushed so many girls away after trying to start something with them. He wanted a down to earth could take care of herself sometimes type of girl but he also liked to be protective and scare boys away it was after all his thing. He watched Lily without her really knowing he was looking. She was so pretty and he had to wonder if she saw it or if anyone told her how beautiful she was? Grim would but not now it was too soon for that stage. Coming out of his thoughts when he heard her next statement maybe he did go too far but part of him did feel like she thought she was better than he was and that annoyed him in a way. After all what was this prissy girl teaching his little sister? He knew Lily was looking out for his sister but he didn’t want his sister being to prissy. “I never once disagreed with you when it came to me having faults but thank you for so bleatingly pointing it out.” He was sorry he had called her selfish but he would not admit that because she was still spoiled in a way after all she was the daughter and youngest of Harry freaking Potter. To him the entire Potter family thought they were better than everyone else in their own way.
Smirking as he watched her pretty blue eyes roll into the back of her head, he knew his flirting was bad he never really got the hang of flirting and didn’t really need it when the girls jumped on him. He has told Scorpius that he didn’t really like the way girls seemed to go crazy once before. But he didn’t really think Scorpius understood. “Are you scared of me or something? Have you listened to; to many rumors dear lily pop?” It was probably the stupid nickname he could think of; probably was the last time he was going to say it out loud. He shook his head trying to keep his temper in check he didn’t like the way she was acting and it was really making him feel like she was better than he was. “and you tell me I don’t know you well enough to call you spoiled and yet you still are judging me.” he was calm and probably was bad it was like the calm before the storm and someone was going to get hurt later but it would not be Lily.
Grimshaw moved back a little when Lily shoved him it didn’t hurt and he moved himself back farther than her push to give her space. Maybe he had gone too far but he knew he was right she was sheltered and to him she didn’t know what fun was living dangerously was fun not following the rules. Grim couldn’t help be grin as she got mad he found her cuter when she was upset. Only he had the right to do it through. Without Lily knowing Grim had been taking care of people that upset her for a while now. Looks like they both are getting on each other’s nerves Grimshaw had to wonder if he should start to tone it down a little after all they were alone. Chuckling at her words he took a deep breath “No this is not that I don’t promise anything I don’t think I can do and honestly I don’t think you are ready. You are still in denial.” Grim’s tone was gentler and calmer as he spoke he was showing he cared a little more than he did before. Watching as she tapped her foot on the ground and noting in his head how cute she looked again mad he smiled at her as he straightened up and took her hand walking to a far away corner of the courtyard. This was his spot where he held when things got to stressful; this was also where he held his alcohol. Seeing he didn’t feel like getting into to much trouble today maybe just a nice sit down with some fire whisky will be enough for now. He wasn’t going to pressure her to drink but it was there if she wanted to live a little. Still holding her hand he dropped to his knees taking her down with him gently when they both were on the ground he leaned back and finally let go of her hand he moved a piece of grass and pulled out two bottles of fire whiskey.
Grim then offered her one wondering if she was going to have the guts enough to at least try it. “I am still being watched like a hawk after my last stunt so this is the most I can do today.” He was being honest with her and this could be a way to spend a little more time with Lily.
