He hadn't really wanted to go to this whole thing, he knew he'd feel like a third wheel up against Fitz and Amelia, with how lovey they were with one another these days. He wasn't exactly needing to dress up for the occasion either, this was technically just like any other day to Hugo, he was always in suits and button ups and vests and jackets, so he opted for a pair of black slacks, a white button down shirt and a black vest with a black tie, yup swag. He made his way toward the great hall wondering who he would dance with on this night, he was after all quite the charmer and if he had to he could always bust out a few verses of some love songs to make some of the girls swoon or even just flash that adorable dimpled grin of his. As he was descending the stairs though his bright eyes flickered upward among the sea of students and he could've swore...no...was it? Oh yes it was with the way that boy walked, Hugo couldn't help but grin from ear to ear as he now pushed his way through the students toward his older cousin with glee. He attacked from behind, jumping on Fred's back,"FREDDY!!!!" [/I] Hugo chimed excitedly, holding onto his cousin's back like he was being piggy backed. He hadn't seen his cousin since the summer seeing as Fred had been so busy helping his dad at the joke shop that he had started the term late and apparently by late that meant tonight! Hugo found it quite contradictory though seeing as they'd just be boarding the trains back home in a matter of a few days to a week. He clung to his cousin still, squeezing the life from him as he grinned and he turned his face so Fred could see him clearly and see how happy he was to see him, "Ya can't leave me like that again, whats wrong with you, leaving me with no wingman" he said finally crawling off the other boy's back before falling in step beside Fred walking into the great hall.[/blockquote]

Fred had never been one to take school too seriously. When it came down to it he knew he was going to take over the family business and manage it as his career, so there was nothing more important then showing his father he was a dedicated hard worker. Not to mention responsible, which was hard with his past record. Roxanne had shown up in the shop the other day telling him about the school events and since everything seemed to be fine at the shop he asked his father to start his school semester. Fred hadn't even started his year. His father had explained to the head master their home situation and they needed Fred helping out with the shop for a while. He had been studying during the night with the professor who traveled and taught him night lessons. Fred did miss being his normal flirty popular self back at the castle and he was psyched he got to return to the school just in time for the Snow ball. It was going to be a great night he was a little down because he didn't have a date but he'd just wing it. Fred was more then capable of getting a date. With his trunk packed he traveled by flu powder into the castle. Fred dragged his trunk to the Gryffindor tower and thought for a moment about the password. It had been a while and he hadn't been informed of the new code. A friend helped him out, whispering it into his ear and before long he was in his old dorm. He looked to Hugo's normal mess of a bed and smirked. He missed his dear cousin he'd probably run into him later in the night. It was about six o' clock so he figured he'd check in with the head master then attend the ball. Fred got into his dress robes looking himself over in the mirror. He was never one to get overly dressed up or flashy but he did like his bow tie. His father had told him countless stories about how grandmother Molly would give his uncle Ron the gently worn robes. It was sad that the family was not in the best wealth status at one point but he guessed it defined the Weasley's as who they were. After messing with his hair getting that perfect curl in the front he looked himself over taking a deep breath. Fred just exited the dorm not seeing anyone he wanted to stop and socialize with. The found of girls giggling and complimenting one another in the hall ways flooded his ears. He just walked faster making his way to the head master's tower. Fred spoke for a while and he was told his Gryffindor house robes would be delivered to him at breakfast the following morning. Fred became anxious to attend the ball so he departed with the head master and made his way to the main floor. His golden-brown eyes light up at the sight of the Great hall, it was simply beautiful but he was caught off guard by Hugo. Fred smiled. "Hugo look at you, my handsome cousin doesn't need a wing man." Fred stated walking into the crowded hall. He couldn't dance but he'd try his best and just be silly for the occasion. Fred walked over to the punch table and grabbed a cup standing aside as he skimmed his bottom lip with his large front teeth looking Hugo over. "How have things been? Any new information I need to know? Romance, trouble, adventures? Give it all to me don't hold back on the details." Fred said knowing his little cousin had something to banter about to kill time.

Handsome? who is he kidding, he's the handsome one the thought crossed Hugo's mind but he couldn't help but smile widely as he followed Fred in suit unable to make his grin fade. Was there anything new in the world of Hugo Weasley? Nope not really but he shrugged and shoved his hands deeper into the pockets of his dress pants as he glanced over at Fred,"Nothing new really aside from Fitz being smitten with Amelia Longbottom that's really all that I can tell oh and maybe a little crush or something between Little Lucy our dear cousin and the Longbottom boy, wow I just realized how that's a tid bit awkward but not my business, news with me though? None...no date to this bloody thing, no plans for the holidays other than being surrounded by the rest of the family as usual who will probably be miserable...please tell me you won't be miserable with the rest of them," he said as he gave his cousin those big bright eyes of his as if begging. He wondered over to the punch bowl and grabbed a glass that was already filled before handing Fred one as well,"Anything new with you? Oh and as for your sisteh I think the only thing new with her is Quidditch stuff going good, don't think she came with anyone but she was dancing with Max a minute ago as I saw" he explained knowing how much Fred would love to know any detail about his little sister seeing as he was oh so protective of the young spontaneous little ball of fire. Hugo sipped his punch for a moment before he decided to just down the whole thing and he glanced around as a pretty upbeat song came on,"Oh come dance with me, lets go make fools of ourselves!" he said excitedly as he reached for his cousin's hand and pulled him toward the dance floor in the hopes to spend this night right along side Fred, the two did know how to have a blast together and somewhere deep down in Hugo's sick mind, the boy was very attractive to say the least.

The pattern of lights moved around the room gave him a relaxed feeling he watched all the girls dance on one another. It was sort of sad. Fred wondered how many people actually had dates for this ball. Roxanne better not be here with any boys and if she was they better have a good two feet in between them when dancing with little Roxie. Fred was protective and he couldn't help it, she was innocent in his eyes and that was how it would always remain. The sound of Hugo's voice snapped him from his little dazed state and he listened. Fitz finally maned up and asked a girl out, it was about time. Summer after summer he'd hear about the boys crush on little shy Emilia Longbottom. Fred would have to congratulate him personally at some point. Hugo didn't seem to have anything going on for him, it must have sucked being the third wheel. "Well you know what, I'm back mate and you don't need to feel like the third wheel anymore." Fred confirmed rubbing Hugo's arm. It was nothing new that when the two were together there were never any needs to invite along a female. The boys were very much capable of keeping one another entertained. At his mention of Roxie Fred sucked his teeth. He knew Max from being in the same house. The boy was often moody and showed Roxanne nothing but friendship as far as he knew. "I'm going to have to talk to that boy." Fred claimed looking around seeing if he could keep an eye on his baby sister. When Hugo took his hand he smirked and finished his punch and walked on the dance floor. The music was fast enough to bust some moves. Fred moved a little stiff at first but soon enough he was dancing right along side of his cousin and the girls were swooning over their moves. Once the song was over he smile listening to the slow song that played next. "Hugo, I'm not slow dancing with you." Fred objected. The couples that were close had him scrunch his nose. "This is just sad, if I wanted to watch people fall in love I'd rent a chick flick. Let get out of here, find something to drink or someone to prank?" Fred suggested with a quick shrug. It was never him to stay in one spot too long.

He was very happy that he would no longer feel like the third wheel and with Fred's reassurance he knew he would be just fine. He smiled when his cousin rubbed his arm and he flicked his hair from his eyes. When they came to the point of dancing and he had dragged Fred into the swarm he couldn't help but grin at the boy who was at first dancing like a robot but then he loosened up and he was proud his cousin was actually not as shy about dancing as he used to be. Hugo was just goofing off through the whole song though he did throw in a few real good moves here and there which did grant him a few whistles and cat calls from onlookers. Slow music, boy did he want to dance close with someone but just as he turned to jokingly pull his cousin in for a dance he heard Fred's words and he narrowed his eyes and gave a slight pout,"You're no fun, I thought I was pretty for being your date and you won't slow dance with me?" he teased batting his eyelashes like a girl and rocking back and fourth on his heels. But he could tell Fred was serious and so he took his cousin by the hand and turned leading him out of the crowd, waving to some of the girls he knew before heading for the exit,"Drinks? I could use a good drink, you got some somewhere?" he asked raising an eyebrow as he kept hold of Fred's hand unaware he was still holding it but he squeezed it a bit. He chewed his bottom lip glancing up and down the main corridor,"Pick a way any way, this way or that way," he said mimicking the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland he even added the big teethed grin as he looked at Fred with his big eyes,"But Mister...you owe me a slow dance later, taking away my dreams of falling in love at a ball" he said feigning being dramatically hurt by it.

Fred raised his eyebrow and listened to Hugo's words. At times he was not aware that they were related with the way his younger cousin talked to him. Fred always had to remind himself because clearly Hugo's mind was else where. Hugo was a great boy, he didn't follow trends and was well aware who he was in life. It was admirable. The boy was handsome but he had always been a little clingy to Fred. Not that he mind the attention. If Hugo didn't feel like a pretty date he didn't do his job. Fred moved closer and leaned toward Hugo's ear not speaking loud. "Your my gorgeous date. I just don't like when everyone watches you dance like that. We can slow dance elsewhere Boo." He teased poking Hugo's dimple. Fred just hoped he didn't lead the boy on in anyways. It was joking after all right? A drink, Of course Fred Weasley had a drink. "Up in the common room, got a big bottle in my trunk." Fred confirmed taking Hugo's hand and walking him out of the hot room. He unbuttoned the top two buttons to his dress shirt and walked to the Grand staircase. "This way!" Fred said pulling Hugo up the stairs as they seemed to move while the boys were standing. Fred looked over the edge smirking. He always loved the small rushes the castle itself created. Once at the seventh floor he caught Hugo's words. "Awe, little Hugo wanted to fall in love? Is that even possible?" Fred asked. He remember once upon a time he thought he was in love but it turned out he was wrong. His best friend was merely that, his best friend. "I'll slow dance with you, but not down there. It's crowded and I get anxious around crowds." Fred admitted going up the spiral staircase to the Gryffindor common room. He spoke the password and went to their dorm and closed the door. "Headmaster let me keep my old room. Thank Merlin we're together. I'd die being in a room with droll and boring students." Fred said taking the door to the boys dormitory. He walked over to his trunk shifting around his things pulling out a bottle of vodka. He was never one to go with the pack and drink fire whiskey. Fred cracked the bottle and took a large sip petting the spot on his bed beside him. "Drink up mate. We'll conjure up ideas of what we can do to entertain ourselves." Fred explained eying his cousin.
